Onigiri YA is a small Japanese store selling various products as well as home-made onigiri’s! We bought 4 different ones to try; salmon, mentaiko, chashu and the karaage. We like all of them but we absolutely loved the salmon onigiri! The rice was perfectly marinated and we can’t wait to come back.

It was by accident that my girlfriend and I found this store. It reminded me of how the small japanese 24h convenient stores were in Japan. Except this one isn’t open for 24 hours. The Onigiri’s were very fresh, if you touch it you have to buy it! I think that is a very nice policy for everyone. We have bought a spicy tuna onigiri and one with tempura shrimp, really tasty and made with love. The drinks were a banana milk and a Bikkle, taste like Yakult. We were very satisfied, and the staff was very courteous. Cute store to grab a quick snack and just eat it casually around the corner or on a bench. Thankyou Onigiri Ya!

The manager was incredibly rude towards me. I touched a product and put it back. I wanted to choose a different flavor of Onigiri and had not seen the sign that it was not allowed to put back a touched item, my mistake of course however I was then reprimanded as if I was a child. He repeated 5 times to me what I did wrong even though I said sorry immediately.

The onigiris are delicious! And there's a selection of imported Japanese snacks and drinks. There's no seating area, so everything is to go. Staff is friendly, too. Tip for eating the wasabi onigiri - go slow.

The Onigiri is delicious, very nice and cozy place. The owner is super friendly i would recommend this place if you would like to have some good Onigiri and many more delicious things. If you have a sweet tooth there is some good Daifuku to try.

The Onigiris are not bad, but some fillings need more spices.

slightly over-priced of course this is to be expected. Everything is neat and employees are friendly. Stock is kinda lacking though

2.5 for a salmon onigiri is a pretty reasonable price. They also sell other products as well. The Japanese mayo was five euros, which is less than in other places I've been to.

Loved it! Too bad about the karaage not being halal, but thank you for the transparency 😂 the rice is super fluffy, and the price is absolutely fair. Highly recommend shiso and devils if you like a subtle taste, and umeboshi if you something that punches you in the face (sour &salty) in the best way ♡

The staff is super friendly and helpful! Love their “rule” to only touch the food you want to buy (since they are rice balls and can lose their triangular shape when many people hold/ touch them). The flavors and the rice formation could both be a bit stronger in my humble opinion. The most popular flavors are Salmon and Tuna Mayo, but they also have vegan flavors which are delicious too. They also have hot miso soup for takeaway as well. We bought from here twice since it’s perfect as a takeaway meal that’s easy to eat and it’s rather affordable.

This is the only Onigiri specialty shop in the Netherlands! Which, is amazing! Onigiri is one of my most favorite foods of Japan. So, when I saw an Onigiri shop, I couldn't believe my eyes and had to go and try some ☺️🍙 It's really nice and fresh Onigiri. The size is small for our western standard but it's totally worth the support to continue and bring us more of the great stuff of Japan to this side of the world. I hope that one day we will be able to find Onigiri in many places as there are sandwiches everywhere 😌🙏🏻

Great Onigiri place. Girlfriend and I usually go to Amsterdam just to get some from this place. It's also a neat little shop where you can find different japanese snacks I can't find anywhere else.

Delicious. Great price. My favorite was the salmon ongiri. Staff was very kind. Not so easy to find tasty, cheap, food here that isn't deep fried or unhealthy. Excited to try all the flavors.

small, cute & authentic place we found randomly when walking around. they play anime in the background, offer freshly-made onigiri, the best match mochi, japanese groceries and beverages. would definitely recommend!

New location next to the metro. The rice balls are always the highlight. There are a lot of flavors to choose from. The staff is friendly. The new store is quite empty with only a few products.

Cute little store I stop by sometimes. They are one of the only stores in the Netherlands who sell fresh and handmade onigiri’s. If you plan to visit this store, I recommend you try the salmon onigiri. I always buy that one, and it never fails to disappoint me

Their onigiri are the best quick snack: healthy and delicious. And affordable! Friendly owner, and they now have a small Japanese supermarket as well!

I’ve spent a lot of time in Japan and these are some of the best onigiri I’ve ever had. The karaage in particular was great. Shop is a really cool find and you can tell they take pride in their food

I had high hopes when looking at the reviews on this location. In comparison to other stores making this themselves, this did not shine through and almost felt scammy. I was very disappointed to see how much filling was in the onigiri’s compared to a place in geraldplein for example.

Just pick any flavor of the onigiri and I was not disappointed at all. Strategically located next to the metro station so I could buy some and brought it for travel of the day. Highly convenient!

A slice of Japanese nostalgia in De Pijp! I was able to purchase fresh onigiri and a variety of Japanese snacks and drinks that I missed from Japan. The onigiri had labels for vegan and gluten free, which allowed me to definitively purchase ones I could eat. I will be back.

This place is the place if you are looking for something to eat in Amsterdam. They have all kind of onigiri, filled with all sort of goodness for a really fair price. The rice is cooked to perfection, the whole thing is cosy and feels like home. You definitely can tell there is love in that small triangle of rice 🍙♥️

What a gem of a place - tastes like in Japan. Really small shop with freshly made Onigiri, can't get this quality very often outside of Japan.

I loved the tuna/mayo onigiri! Well seasoned and the filling wasn't just in the middle. You get enough filling with every bite. And for €2,50 I think its really worth it. The Albert Heijn sells stuff like these but for way more with less quality. Staff was really friendly too

The rice texture and quality is perfect! You could taste the warmth of fresh rice. The only pity is the seaweed wrap is very minuscule. It has just become a strip. The filling is also reduced. But come for the taste of the rice!! It is enough to make you forgive these shortcomings.

Love stopping by to pick up some onigiri and a drink (calpis the bomb). Store is small and cute and they have a tiny bench right outside that’s perfect for eating and people watching. Love this place !!

Love Onigiri Ya and the diverse set of options it offers - many veggie options too! In the past few months the onigiri got considerable smaller in terms of size compared to a couple years ago. Nevertheless, will continue being a regular (weekly!) customer. Salmon onigiri is a MUST!

The salmon and tuna mayo onigiri were perfect as afternoon snacks :-) the owner was very friendly! Wish I could visit everyday

Definitely one of my favorite places in Amsterdam for grabing a snack or a light lunch/dinner. The onigiris are always fresh and taste amazing! :)

Fantastic little shop with original imported items from Japan. After moving to Amsterdam from Tokyo, this place quenched my thirst for Japanese snacks. Owner is also such a chill guy. Will visit many many times.

The owner is very friendly and helpful. It’s a cute little shop and the handmade onigiri are delicious. They have a variety of flavours, along with drinks and snacks.

My absolute favourite place to get a snack in Amsterdam, for years even. They know my face, I always get the tuna onigiri. Sometimes three to eat in one-go. It’s just so damn good.

👍 The french fries are good, but certaintly not the best in Amsterdam as the sign suggest. There's always a long waiting line and they don't keep up with all the orders. If you're a fries lover, you'll enjoy it, but I won't recommend waiting in line for everyone.
