We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the establishment. The staff members were friendly and accommodating, and the food was absolutely fantastic! The only aspect that prevented us from giving a perfect rating was the condition of the bathroom. While it wasn't unclean, we did notice that the floor had a slightly sticky residue. Despite this minor issue, our overall dining experience was wonderful.

We booked a last minute stay at the royal oak, as we thought it was the best value for money in Keswick. The room was small and rustic it was well equipped with teas and coffee and the breakfast/bar staff were really welcoming and seemingly would have accommodated any request we had. All that being said our room was unbearably hot, we had the window open and a fan on but it was still too hot adding to this the extractor fan for the kitchen was on all day and on early in the morning. The thing that tarnished our trip above all was the fact that we got charged for taking the soaps from the bathroom despite there being a section in their guest handbook saying "TOILETRIES We think they look rather pretty - and hate to see waste so please help yourself and take them home as a little memento of your stay with us." The money got taken out of our account without prior notification. When I phone, I spoke to Steven. He placed all the blame on us and didn't want to listen to my concern for other guests. There was no other information in our room stating we would get charged. Steven also informed me that 3 other guests had been caught out and charged and had the same complaint for the lack of communication. Despite the heat of our room we would have recommended the royal oak and would have stayed again but after the charges and interactions with Steven we will not be returning. Very disappointed with this and the manner in which Steven handled the situation.

Such a disappointment in both the hotel room standard and the management's customer service. I'm glad I booked via an external booking platform as only they were able to provide me with compensation for the very unhappy stay. The ladies serving breakfast were absolutely top notch though, they were so lovely and kind. EDIT: Hi Steven, thank you for adding your comment. I also feel your comments are very unfair. I don't agree with your version of the story and it's not what I experienced happening. Therefore, I'm happy we had an external platform to sort it out and we can split ways.

Stopped here for dinner with my Dad after a walk on the fells. We both had the fish pie which was amazing! Very tasty with plenty of fish and a lovely cheesy mash topping. Served with a small side of peas and green beans which were fresh and tasty too! We both really enjoyed it. The service was wonderful too. Very smiley and helpful staff. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I felt they could maybe add a bit more veg. But I'm picking fault here because the quality was exceptional and I wouldn't want that to suffer just for a bigger portion. Definitely stop by if you're in Keswick and try the fish pie!!

We just stayed here the night with our 8 month old baby. The room was really nice and the staff were very helpful in making sure the cot was set up. We also had dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious. Great place to stay, eat and drink, staff are very welcoming and friendly, would highly recommend!

Managed to squeeze us in for dinner late on a Friday night (no booking). Friendly staff, good pub grub and a good selection of beers (can try before you buy 🍻)

Called in because we liked the look of it from outside and hoped to get a table, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was great and the service was impeccable. We will definitely go back there again. Thank you for a lovely evening.
