It makes me think that both the Jordan and Israel govt are taking advantage of people’s desire to see the baptism site as it is impossible for this to be called the “Baptism site of Jesus”. Apparently the river’s course has changed over the last 2200 years and this is the closest place right now where Jesus was baptized. The actual site is 500m away into Jordan, here:

Many tourists come here to get baptized and swim in the Jordan river. Pictures taken on the Jordan side on the same site.

(Translated by Google) Stunning place. There is an air-conditioned sense next to it and there is a shared kitchen with a fridge and stove, clean showers and a bar with a good atmosphere. What is a bit disappointing is that even though the khan is right next to the Dead Sea, there is nowhere to go down to the beach, so to get to the sea you have to drive to Ein Bokek, almost a half hour drive. It turned out that we paid 400 NIS per night for a couple in Husha, and from reading the comments here, it seems that some received other prices, so it's a bit incomprehensible. You can enter through them the pool of a hotel that is within walking distance for 30 NIS (Original) מקום מהמם.

One of the most significant places for Christians where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist in the water of the Jordan River. We got there without problems with a rented car from Israel. It is a checkpoint where you have to declare the number of people and the nationality. Although the route passes through minefields, we were always safe and the place is safe. There is a large parking lot, clean toilets, cold water dispensers, a souvenir shop. You can enter the water from the pontoon, there are armed border guards on both banks, but in general it is a pious atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

(Translated by Google) We really enjoyed the beautiful khan located at the foot of the Dead Sea with a crazy sunrise! The place gives a real atmosphere of a foreign country. However I must for the sake of honesty and fairness I must admit there were some less pleasant things. The kitchen is not tasty (we ate a few different dishes) The place is not clean, no floor is washed after the evening everyone has eaten, the cushions of the sofas do not seem to be washed. And I would like to suggest a place like this to use fewer disposable utensils.

The Jordan River doesn't flow as strongly as it once did. Interesting to see how close Jordan is on the other side of the river. One can literally reach out and touch people on the other side.

Highly recommended place. Nice atmosphere. Easy to get there. The dead sea area where you can swim is also close after the visit of Qasr el Yahud. The best is (if possible) to visit the area from the Jordanian side as well, where it is even more interesting (but of course more expensive).

Qasr al-Yehud (Castle of the Jews) is a baptismal location on the Jordan River. The site is in the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank 15 km from the northern end of the Dead Sea and southeast of Jericho. Qasr Al-Yehud is believed to be the Biblical site where John baptized Jesus; this symbolized his spiritual birth. This stretch of the river is also where Joshua led the Israelites to cross the River Jordan into the Promised Land. The Prophet Elijah is said to have ascended to heaven from this location. The area covers both banks of the Jordan River – on the east bank in the Kingdom of Jordan and on the west bank at Qasr al-Yehud.

This is supposedly one of the earliest site of Christian pilgrimage as churches from both Jordan and Israel were found. If you can’t go to Bethany beyond the Jordan, this is the next best place to be as it is the same river. The white baptismal wear is US$8 to buy.

The Jordan river!!!!! The water is brown but very soft, if that makes since. I touched it and my hands were so soft. Some people were washing their face with it and swishing it around in their mouth. I wouldn't go that far but it was nice to see and touch the river that Jesus was baptized in!

(Translated by Google) Qasr al-Yehud is a very impressive immersion site, in the Jordan River, a little north of the Dead Sea. There are actually two immersion sites, one on the Jordanian side and the other on the Israeli side, only about 30 meters apart. On both banks of the river, there are a number of magnificent churches, but entry to most of them is not possible. Christian tourists come to the place to take a dip in the river water. Baptism in the place is for them a kind of "renewal" for unemployment that they went through in church when they were babies. At the moment there are almost no tourists, but visiting the place is exciting and very special.

A place of inspiration about the power of faith. In the middle of nowhere, away from any big human concentration, you suddenly find gold domes, towers and buildings, that are the monasteries of Qasr El Yahud - the Jewish castle. This is the place where jews believe Joshua and the Israelites crossed the Jordan river before conquering Jericho and settling in Israel (hence the Yahud reference - Jews) and many years after that, the place where Jesus was baptised by John. You will see the Franciscan order's flags all over (their monastery is the closest to the point of interest) and a short walk will display multiple monasteries with different grand designs. The monasteries were deserted after 1967 when the area became a point of passage for groups of terrorists infiltrating into Israel and things became not safe. Try to read about the history or use a guide when coming to the area.

A holy place for Christianity and a traditional place for Judaism. According to Judaism this is the place where the 12 tribes entered the holy land after 40 years in the desert.According to Christianity , this is the place where Jesus was baptized for the first time. There is no entry fee,The place has been renovated for the benefit of the participants. Changing rooms ,toilets,a gift shop where you can buy a cloak to dip in the river,( 8$ us) Easy access to the baptism site, there are places to pray,A real spiritual site,

Very religious significance of this location as designated where Jesus was baptized by John. Definitely a tourist destination. One can choose to be baptized there if one desires. We chose not to. Yes, it was cold. Yes, the water was murky. Yes, it was crowded. Biggest reason is that we were already baptized and the location doesn't matter. Is it "cool" that one could be baptized in the same (relative) location as Jesus?! Absolutely. Is it "special"?! To some I am sure it is. Is it essential? No. Go and enjoy. Be baptized (or not).

Although I am told that the Jordan River is much healthier than it was some years ago, the small pool of brown-green water that is on offer provides only a few centermetres of visibility and a width of a couple metres. The facilities on the Israeli side are okay, but the Jordan side has a number of churches but few pilgrims, given the difficulty of making a crossing. Make sure you come with low expectations!

(Translated by Google) A place full of charm from which Jordan can be seen a few meters away. It would need recovery to make it more suitable for pilgrims' visits. You can get there, after strict passport checks, directly by bus to the area in which it is allowed to move (always controlled by the military present everywhere). Very suggestive. you can in fact almost arrive on the river for a quick prayer or for a few photos (never of the soldiers and their sentry boxes of course). there is also a small area covered by a canopy and a water dispenser.

(Translated by Google) A site built mostly for Christian tourism. The main baptismal site for pilgrims today. There is a beautiful church but I would not recommend coming especially - there are quite a few beautiful churches in Jerusalem as well. It is worth arriving on January 18 for the Christian baptism holiday where people from all over the world come for a baptism in the Jordan River. The rest of the day I recommend coming with a guide or someone who knows and can explain and tell about the place otherwise the visit will be a bit anemic. It's probably the only campground around Ein Gedi. It makes it affordable, but still rather overpriced for the standard. There are power outages, kitchen and fridges are dirty. Tents thankfully utilize air conditioning, but gear is just beyond your ears so it's crazy loud during the night. Night bar doesn't help either. If you are young and like to party you probably wouldn't care, but notice that this rather unpleasant place to rest. Blankets are paid additionaly. Bathrooms are public but rather clean. Seems like a nice place for backpackers.

Very nice Camping ground. Great view all around the site. The Dead Sea in the front, Mountains behind. As the site is 430 meters below the normal ocean level it's very warm there. Has a very good social area. Locals also use it just to chill and have a beer. Heard a lot of girly girls saying it was so basic but it's a camp site not a luxury hotel! Busy but stunning place steeping in so much history. You can take the steps down to the river to touch the water but also drench yourself in the water from the showers provided at the Riverside. Beautiful experience.

My brain pictured the Jordan River as this wide river, but in reality it is surprisingly narrow. Regardless the history of the Jordan speaks for itself. The staff on site were friendly, even giving us fresh watermelon and the most amazing dates on the planet! Also, they make access to the river very easy.

What can be said about this site that hasn't already been said? This place is incredibly holy and important to Christians and also very popular with other tourists interested in the story. Important to remember that this place is always busy but particularly so during the Christian holidays.

Jerusalem is a country worth visiting not as we read about it in books only, but when you are in the place where we read about it we find many events and we understand more and clear the picture and find the truth we are looking for and what distinguishes Jerusalem from other countries it includes the world's largest religions and Christianity Islam and Judaism and how to live with some of them despite the minor differences between them and I recommend that you visit them because it is Ajayeb precisely where the Lord Jesus Christ at the hands of John the Baptist and the river that baptized him sanctity and a wonderful feeling to stand in this place

This is the Jordan River where Saint John the Baptist baptized Jesus. It's a bit touristy. It had been raining so the river was high and muddy. Yes folks were going in the river to renew their Baptismal vows. My group just touched the water as it was chilly. Bring a little bottle to get some water to buy some at the gift shop. There is a changeing area and rest rooms.

Most interesting site: the (supposed) christening place of Jesus (Yeshua), and probable site of Joshua's crossing of the Jordan on the way to capture Jericho and conquer, subsequently, the Holy Land of Israel.
