As a Beacon Hill local, I really wanted to love this place. It’s a great location and has so much potential. I was hoping my poor experience the first time I went to their bar was just an off day, but I went again with a group and had the same experience. The bar is unwelcoming, the bartenders acted conceited towards my group, and made it feel like anyone under the age of 65 didn’t belong. At $25 per drink, I would expect more respectful service. If you’re looking for a good cocktail in the neighborhood, walk a few more blocks to 1928 instead.

We loved this cozy, quaint hotel with the roof terrace and a street view from the room. It's perfect for couples. Located in one of the prettiest and most iconic parts of Boston, it's close to the Gardens, the T, and several shops of all types.

It's a quaint hotel in a great location. The bistro food, Cobb salad and bruschetta are excellent! The apple dessert to end the flourless chocolate cake need improvement. As for the rooms themselves, our room is in the need of a refreshment... Shower tiles were dirty, the tub faucet was coming off the wall and the bathroom sink was cracked. With all that we still loved it and we would stay there again. 😀

Went here for brunch for the first time. Very elegant and nice inside. I was a little confused by the cloth napkins--they were literally old dishtowels. The food was really good. I got the vanilla pancakes with caramelized bananas. Let me ask you: would you expect the bananas to be warm or cold? I was expecting warm...and they were ice cold. Wasn't worth complaining over because we never saw our server. The mimosa was ok--more tart than sweet, which was an interesting sensation for the taste buds. Otherwise, it was a good meal in a lovely neighborhood.

Great neighborhood bar with good food, excellent friendly service staff. We sat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed our conversation with fellow diners. (A little unexpected given that we are on the older side of 50/60.) Creme brulee was heavenly and so were the drinks. Love the decor of the bar/lobby and especially the bathroom!! Will definitely come back.

The best hotel Ever and the best staff ever! The greatest thing is that everything is really close to the hotel and really easy to get anything you want! Train stations, culture places and the most beautiful thing… Boston Common

Quite possibly my favorite hotel in the USA. Charming, stunning, makes you feel both pampered and at home at the same time. Location is sensational. Remodel must have cost a fortune every detail is perfection.

We had brunch at the bistro, food was excellent! AND we were there with our 18 month old daughter, the staff was very accommodating to her, she was given crayons and a stuffed animal duck. Great experience all around!

I have come here twice & both times the service at the bar has been horrible. If you’re under 40, you are looked down upon by the bartenders, and they will be rude and incredibly inattentive. It is an absolute skip if you’re in the area.

Easy to get a large table for 7. Appetizers were great especially the meatballs. Beer selection was very limited but wine was good to great. Everyone enjoyed their meal and they were pretty tolerant of us being boisterous on spite of the high end feel to the place.

Small and old is what makes the Bistro so nice. It’s the atmosphere. The people who complain about small and old want the construction companies to come in and put up some tacky modern building and they obviously know nothing about Beacon Hill.

Well, the rooms are nice, comfortable. There is no water in the room or coffee facilities. The price they charge I would have expected a lot more. This is not a 5 star hotel! It's obviously in Beacon Hill, is this why they charge so much? The reception staff were good, offering where to go for breakfast etc. The bar staff!! She did not want to get the bill correct and certainly had an attitude. We ordered 5 drinks and she insisted in charging for 6. When I explained twice she finally gave us a bill and only charged us for 4 drinks. This was not the point but the service was shoddy. I would not go back.

First time visiting, and I came in for a business lunch. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly, prompt and not intrusive. The burger was cooked perfectly, it was the perfect size and very tasty. The house made pickles really added to it. Great menu selection. We will be back.

Rooms are small and dated, but location is fabulous. A bit of bait and switch - I chose the place because they had breakfast, but after I reserved, my confirmation said they didn't because it was winter, but that there would be coffee and pastries in the lobby. There was coffee and ice water, no tea, no pastries. But the manager did get me some. Dinner at the bar was great. Good food and felt like a cozy neighborhood place.

My husband, young son, and I were lucky to grab the very last room in all of Boston (7/21) at the Beacon Hill Hotel on a late night when our flight got cancelled. Though our night wasn't going as planned, the gentleman who answered the phone and assisted us with booking is the same person who greeted us at the hotel with helping hands and a generous spirit. The service was hospitable, caring, and understanding of our situation. The room was not only a clean and safe place to lay our tired heads, but a charming room with updated bath and amenities. The decor and attention to detail in the room was like those at a 5-star hotel. The area was a block from the park and all of the quaint shops at Beacon Hill. Thanks for a quick and lovely stay! We will be back!

We come to the BHH weekly for dinner, the place is beautiful and the the staff is always so lovely! The food is phenomenal, we tell everyone visiting the area to eat here! They recently opened up their roof for cocktails which is such a hit to be able to people watch on Charles street!

We had the Sunday brunch here and it was terrific! The french toast and pancakes were moist and so tasty you don't need syrup. My favorite was the bacon that tasted freshly smoked! It was a nice touch. It's also located in a cute area to wander around.

This is a review of the bistro only. I have not stayed at the hotel. I've eaten at the bistro a few times and used to like it, but not so much any more. Of the eight entrees on the menu this evening, only six were available. Service was pleasant, but the waitress was dressed in a football jersey while serving in a room with white tablecloths. For me, a formal room demands formal attire. I dressed up before I went there and expected the staff to show some style too. The narrow and overheated room was noisy even though the room was only about half full. Altogether, not the best experience.
