Dinner date night. Really enjoyed myself and my company. The old fashioned was really good. Got it 2x. The pretzel bun burger definitely a great choice. Our server was sweet and efficient. There was a rowdy and loud table sitting behind us that kinda ruined our experience at the end. But don’t wanna rain on their parade. Great atmosphere and clean establishment. I’d come back. The options on the menu for dinner are slim. But maybe brunch is better.

Great brunch spot. Nice locations with an area to walk around. The ambiance is nice. Our waiter/bartender Fransisco was amazing! He made our day. The food was very tasty and full of flavor.

I throughly enjoyed my experience at The Southern Gentlemen!! From the very first customer service encounter being seated to my food and dessert. My server Shannon was phenomenal!! Her spirited service was dynamic and bright from start to finish. We came back two nights in a row just based of her service. First night we did strictly appetizers. Shannon truly made me and my sister feel like family! She recommended the Deviled Eggs, Mac and Cheese and Hushpuppies to start and ALL were superb. I enjoyed my drink, the Breakfast in Georgia..the perfect balance of sweet & sour but not too sweet. For entrees, I had the pork chop and my sister had the shrimp and grits. We will certainly be back many times in the future!!

This is a nice clutch spot in the city. While my service was great, I wasn’t impressed overall with the food quality, taste and my cocktails. It seems to be giving you one thing and putting out another. Cool atmosphere, but the menu def needs some revisiting.

We went late on our anniversary night. We wanted something light so I got the crab bisque and my hubby got the blue cheese wedge salad. Everything was great! The salad had a spice kick to it but it was good! The restaurant was beautiful. The ambiance was amazing. Winona, our server, was so friendly. The host was friendly and helpful. It was a great experience! We’ll definitely be back!

When you walk in, the ambiance of the restaurant is breathtaking. It looks really great and well put together, with a great view right outside. The manager and our server were wonderful to us; nevertheless, a restaurant’s environment can’t be its greatest quality. The food is relatively expensive, and so you expect a certain bar of quality for the price you pay. Unfortunately, we did not get that. The food we ordered tasted very bland (other than the fried chicken meal, which we were pleasantly surprised for its creativity). We got the chicharrones as an appetizer, and then the mac n cheese side course with the duck gumbo and the fried chicken entrees as our meal. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but if we go back, we’re just gonna stick with the drinks and the views outside.

Our server, Jay, was great. He helped us with cocktail recommendations, brought fresh silverware when it was accidentally taken, and handled the bill quickly. The restaurant looks pretty but the high top tables are not as comfy as low tables and are kind of squished. The hostess only wanted to seat us at a high top right next to a group when there were plenty of other nearby open tables. The food was fine, nothing special. The restaurant over hyped the fried chicken, which didn’t have a well spiced batter and came with overly salty collard greens and sweet bread. The braised rib pot roast looked beautiful but was lower in flavor. The shrimp and grits were good. They have a sauce that is more of an acquired taste so keep that in mind if you order it. Again, nothing was bad but it was unremarkable and more of a place to go for the environment or celebrations rather than rave worthy southern food. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes.

Every Friday, my sister and I try a different restaurant in Atlanta or wherever we happen to be. There's no rhyme or reason to our selection. We do have a list that we continuously update. So this Friday we tried the Southern Gentleman. Backstory - we've attempted to eat here on several occasions but alas we finally made it. And let me tell you... it was worth the wait. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. Just a great vibe.

Pretty good. Located on the second level. The lady who checked me in was super sweet and welcoming. I sat at the bar but it was really slow. Since I was solo, I was expecting a little quicker since not many was at the bar. Avocado deviled eggs were good. Flavor of the oysters okay once I added hot sauce. Fried Tempura Catfish was really good, ate that with grits. The cocktail….Southern Belle was awesome.

We were a party of 4 for my BIL's Birthday Dinner! We had a wonderful time! First, I want to start of by thanking the hostess, the chef(s) the bar staff and especially our server, Corey. From beginning to end the service and food were emaculate! Food: we did not order any apps. We went straight to mains. We had 2 orders of the buttermilk fried chicken, 1 order of the beef short ribs and 1 order of the cripsy pork shoulder. All were juicy, tender and flavorable. For sharable sides we had the buttermilk rolls(addictively delicious, we ordered it twice), Mac and Cheese(yummy) and smothered winter greens. We were NOT disappointed at all. Parking: you have to park in a parking garage BUT the restaurant gives you a validation ticket so Parking is free. 5/5 Recommend you to give them a try! Thanks for the wonderful service! We will be back!

I brought my wife to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. When we're talking about healthy or meatastic options with a splash of flavor 👌 THIS IS THE SPOT! Atmosphere very casual and warm for mini get together for business or otherwise family and friends! P.s drinks are heavenly.

So, dinner here got off to a very rocky start... We had a reservation and arrived early, yet they wanted to sit us on high seats/table, which we did not want, then they wanted to sit us outside, but it was too noisy and rowdy, we declined. Eventually the manager took charge and found us a nice table after about 10-15mins, grateful to him. The rest of the evening went uphill from here, our server was nice and courteous, bless her. Our food was very nice and tasty and arrived on time, just as we were finishing our starters. The menu was limited though, I expected more choices, E.g no salmon on the menu. Asides that and the first 10minutes, it was a lovely experience. Great ambience, good lighting. FYI - This restaurant is on the second floor, you have to take the stairs/elevator. Parking is $20 valet.

I've come to this spot for a long time, always great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Great value for your $$. Had the peach cobbler french toast, shrimp n grits, and brazed short ribs. The mimosa flight is great. Deserts was great, peach cobbler and pound cake.

We had a party of 5 at 7:00 pm on a Thursday night. Our waitress was Muhamma and she gave great suggestions! Paid for parking. It was very confusing to find though. Look for the Gyspy Kitchen elevator, in the little side street across from Le Bilboquet. Go up, then turn left off the elevator and walk around the patio, which is weird because there’s not much space between the tables and the walkway. Then the entrance will be on the right. Plenty of patio seating. Here’s what I tried: - Sweet Carrousel ($12): Described as pink lemonade, but I think it has more depth than that. It was good! - Cheddar Hush Puppies ($8): Delicious! Good portion for the price. We split between the 5 of us. - Buttermilk Rolls ($8): Good! Not necessary to try though. Split between the 5 of us. - House Burger ($18): Really good burger! The fries were also very tasty, with a good crunch on the outside. It was nice to try! Good for groups - they split the appetizers on our checks for us very easily. Reasonably priced. Good food.

Came here on a weekday and was very pleased with my experience. I came with a party of three and We had reservations and were seated instantly. Appetizers and drinks were delicious. We had the deviled eggs, blue crab and the rolls which were all equally amazing. For entrees, we ordered the salmon, shrimp and grits and fried chicken and all three entrees were delicious. One of the best pieces of salmon I’ve had in a long time. The waitress was amazing, pleasant and super friendly and personable. Parking was easy as well. Overall, a great experience for a nice lunch meeting or a quick get together with some friends or family.

Family Supper with great food in a great atmosphere - sit back and relax while you read this . . . We had a lot of food as there were 4 of us. BITES: *Cheddar Hushpuppies - okay, these hushpuppies are not your mama's or dada's hushpuppies, these were fluffy with a crisp and the avocado, jalapeno crema and honey were just yummy. I have no other word, but yummy. *Deviled Eggs - what can I say, I love a deviled egg, but that pickled pearl onion was the cherry on top *Tempura Fried Catfish - never had it before, but I will have it again and again and again, it was light, fresh, crispy, flaky, and just really good and the accompanied sauce was perfection. I could slip that dipping sauce with a straw - yes, that good and smooth. *Pimento Cheese - the house chips were PERFECT, not a burnt one in the group, I loved the chips so much, we finished them before the pimento cheese. So, we did what any good person would do, we finished the pimento cheese with our spoons. Please do not judge me harshly, I was not the only person who used their spoon. MAINS: (pictures attached) *Mama Kat's Acadian-Style Gumbo - to be very clear about this dish, I want to go live with Mama Kat. There was a crispy duck confit and I died inside. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, so freaking divine. When I bite into the duck, I had to remember to breathe. I have never had duck this flavorful before and the skin was just - I can not describe the sensation of biting into that duck confit. And the greens, the rice, the sausage - just so ... no words. *House Burger - the entire burger was consumed in less than 3 minutes - enough said. *Buttermilk Fried Chicken - this ain't your ordinary fried chicken, this was Southern Gentleman fried chicken. And the entire plate was empty, I doubt they had to wash the dish because there was NOTHING left. *Pecan-Crusted Red Fish- simply put, this dish was AMAZING! I did not know roasted butternut squash could taste like that, but it did! SWEET: *Chocolate Gateau & *Griddle Semolina Cake - we decided to share the desserts, but almost got into a fight (not really) and we tried to outmaneuver the other person to get a spoonful. It truly looked like a The Matrix fight scene, but we did it quietly (kind of). ENVIRONMENT & SERVERS: PERFECTION: The ladies serving us were sweet, lovely, kind, and knowledgeable. The environment was clean and modern, yet classic and southern. The music was also delightful. There were moments of just chewing and rocking our heads to the music. The restaurant is a delightful place for any reason in your life to take a meal. And when you walk in the "welcome mat" which is built into the floor says "YES MA'AM." Loooooooove it! I will not even start with the drinks; I would be writing another paragraph about spirits and their smooth coolness. The Executive Chef (Paul) visited our table and he was gracious and kind. We could tell that he is very proud of his creations and willing to just keep creating more for us to enjoy. By the way, the gumbo is his mother's recipe and we are here for it!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can not wait to see what else he has in store for us all!!!!!!!!! I will visit again and try everything else on the menu. I reeeeeeally want some more Tempura Fried Catfish. In the end, I gladly and easily paid the bill with a hefty tip. Our server deserved it. Visit this restaurant, you will not regret it.

I really wanted to like this place. It is upstairs in the shopping plaza, fyi. We loved the cheap parking deck that is near. The food was mediocre, for the price. Appetizers included cold okra chips and oysters was ok!now these Okra chips , are sliced long ways on mandolin I guess, they resemble and tasted like cold greasy bottom of bag crumbs. Entrees included pan seared trout and corn succotash, I think?. For starters The trout accompanied by some sweet gravy, was a thin square with soggy skin that I peeled off. The taste was ok, nothing wowed me the portion size for price was off dramatically. My friend had honey chicken and vegetables.it was a sugar bomb ,absolutely no balance of flavor The honey drenched the chicken and the vegetables. Luckily I thought of him adding hotsause to help Balance the sweet so he could eat it but agreed never again. The drinks ..we ordered one Moscow mule first it came in a glass very lime forward but alcohol was there so it was decent, ordered another this came in the proper mule cup but tasted drastically different than the other. Waitress took it back attempted to recreate first one .epic fail ! we felt sorry for her and accepted it anyway. We also had a Scarlett Bell pls don't waste your time tasted like cheap prosecco gone wrong. Over all experience vs the 127 price not great. Tried it! and do not feel the need to go again

This was my first visit to The Southern Gentleman. The staff was very friendly and our server, Bella, was great. The decor and vibe was also very hip and inviting. Our appetizers of pimento cheese and hush puppies, (not pictured), were really good. The homemade chips with the pimento cheese were perfect. The main dishes of short rib hash, egg toast, and fried chicken with a skillet cake were all very delicious. To top things off, the upside down peach cake was very tasty. We will definitely visit The Southern Gentleman again.

Flew my mother in from Austin TX for mother’s day… first time here, and extremely disappointed with the food quality. My husband’s mom’s food came out cold (the lobster) and rubbery, and my mother’s food was inedible. Hard bacon that she could tap against a glass. Everything came out within less than five minutes, which I imagine is because it was prepped beforehand. Just an overall awful experience. Edit: the uniformity here was strange as well. We ordered two chocolate cakes slices for dessert - one was large with no white cream on top, and the other was extremely small with the cream. To the credit of the manager, he did bring my husband another larger slice for free, which was nice. I was pretty embarrassed to have flown my mom into town for a few hours and this was the experience she had.

EXCELLENT! I could not stop raving about this place after my visit! I decided to come here randomly, close to closing time a couple nights before Christmas to celebrate my birthday with a friend. It was THEE BEST decision I made! Our bartender/server made sure to get our orders into the kitchen before they closed and he even comped two of my drinks on the bill for my birthday! And let me tell y'all, those drinks were GOOOOOOD! I had the Breakfast In GA drink and I ordered another one, expeditiously. I also had the shrimp & grits & fried green tomatoes. Me & my friend shared the mac & cheese. Everything was incredible. I even asked to speak to the chef before he left for the evening to compliment him. I would absolutely recommend this place for any type of occasion, but especially when you want to treat yourself. Big compliments to the chef as well as the bartender! (forgive me, I think the bartenders name was Jason?! I can't remember)

This place has been on my list for a while, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it in the Atlanta Dining Out Passbook. I made same day reservations on OpenTable for 6:30pm. Parking in this area is valet, once we arrived we were seated right away. The ambiance and music was very nice. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the charcuterie board and fried green tomatoes, followed by shrimp and grits, short rib, and fried chicken. The food was hot, well seasoned and very flavorful. Everyone is our group thoroughly enjoyed their food. My drink that was suggested by our server was also delicious, can’t recall the name. When the server says the drink is sweet, believe it. My friend ordered the strawberry drink and had a hard time finishing it due to the sweetness. Overall, great experience…we’ll be back!

I was waiting to hear back from the GM before I posted my review. The GM did call me a couple hours after I sent them an email. I missed his call and he asked me to call him back on his cell, which I did, but he did not answer, so I left a voice message. I have not heard back from him. This review is from our visit on 10.8.2023 while celebrating our son's 18th Birthday. We were visiting the restaurant as a group of 11, including three minors and two young adults, (18 years and 19 years). Service- Michael was our server and I will say he was wonderful. I do believe he handled both situations that occurred, as best as he probably felt he could. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. Drinks- Our daughter, (14) and our niece, (19), both ordered Mock Blueberry Mojitos. When they received their drink orders, my sister passed me my daughter’s drink and asked me to taste it because my daughter thought it tasted odd. When I took a sip, I IMMEDIATELY could taste alcohol and it was VERY strong. My husband also took a sip and agreed it was indeed alcohol. After checking my nieces drink, we found that there was alcohol in her drink as well. We informed Michael who was very apologetic and got us the correct drinks. He said it was a bartender mistake. Not sure, but that is a HUGE and serious "mistake" to make. Food- We ordered our appetizers. Hushpuppies, Deviled Eggs and Fried Green Tomatoes. I used a knife to cut the egg that I had into a smaller piece and noticed that there was a very noticeable shell still on the egg. Luckily, I caught it before it was consumed. I told Michael and he just took the plate that I laid the fork with the shell on. He did not offer to replace our meal or anything. Our daughter had the shrimp and grits. Her favorite meal anywhere we go. She said the shrimp was a little gritty. Almost like it wasn't cleaned properly. All in all the real issue we had was that either the manager was never notified about what had occurred, ESPECIALLY the alcoholic drink situation or they just didn't feel it warranted coming to our table. We were trying to just enjoy the evening and not put up a fuss, but the fact that we literally paid for their serious mistakes, did not sit right with us. I thought reaching out to the restaurant directly would allow them to make it right, but again, the manager never returned my call or at the very least reply to my email. Update: The manager never called me back. I almost think companies reply to appear as though they care for those who are reading reviews when they actually never plan to rectify the situation. We will not be back.

We came for the NYE pre-set menu and to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The food was amazing and came out quite quickly, and our server was friendly and attentive. However, when we were seated, the restaurant was relatively empty and we were put at a small table crammed between two others, while the booth behind us remained open the entire time. Additionally, no one asked about my partner’s birthday despite being listed on the reservation, and, while I understand the additional distractions of the New Year celebration, it would have been nice to have it acknowledged.

Dinner at 5 p.m. on a Wednesday, so it was not too crowded, but there were a fair number of folks there. Service was excellent - thanks Cassie! - we were taken care of but not pestered, and her recommendations were great. We had the fried green tomatoes app, braised short rib pot roast and fried chicken. All was great. Chicken was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside! The collards with the fried chicken were not my favorite ... they left the stems in, and if you do that you really should cook them longer so they aren't crunchy and stringy. But flavors were all interesting, and portions were ample. The space is definitely a vibe! We will be back.

The host stand attendants are not the best reflection of the service at The Southern Gentleman; maybe we caught them at a bad time but they were unfriendly when we arrived and unhelpful when we tried to validate our parking. The rest of our service here was great. The starters are where it's at! The fried green tomatoes have a tasty jam and the hush puppies are great too! When we got our mains, I had regrets about the squash I ordered (pictured) as it absolutely didn't live up to the apps or even the collard greens and cornbread my son got as his side with the fried chicken. The mac and cheese shareable side is the reason I'd consider returning, it's THAT good. I do NOT recommend the squash to someone who does eat meat but leans towards veg options... Get the meat here!! The parking situation for someone coming from outside the perimeter (OTP) is kind of a nightmare. There's valet or a parking deck with a walk and they'll validate your ticket if you're not sticking around to shop. The restaurant is on the second floor, accessible by stairs or an elevator, but a little tricky to find if you're not at all familiar with the area.

I had planned to visit a couple of restaurants and other activities; for my birthday trip. And this was one of my choices. Overall, I like the restaurant and the location; but I a little disappointed with my dinner. It wasn't what I was expected. I looked at the menu, before we went to the restaurant; but I wanted wasn't on the menu that we were given. So, what you see in the picture posted; was a second choice. Maybe next time; I will have a better experience.

Food was incredible and so were our drinks..we had the cheddar hush puppies and deviled eggs to start. AMAZING. All the flavors are things you wouldn't think to put together but it just works! Then we had the fried chicken and the wagyu (substituted fries for roasted potatoes) but the creamed leeks from the fried chicken made the whole meal!!!! We will be back to try everything else FOR SURE

What a fabulous place to get cute and eat good! The food is always delicious, no matter what you get. The fried chicken and the pot roast is perfection. The smoked Gouda mac and cheese is so gooey and delicious. I tried the Stuffed Delicata Squash, as they change their menu for the season. It is the perfect fall dish. Chef kiss! The Southern Gentleman never disappoints.

I had my Anniversary Dinner at this fine restaurant. The ambiance is beautiful and the lighting is low. The food was seasoned so well, that I was truly impressed. I had the Fried Chicken and hubby had the New York Strip. They even gave us complimentary champagne 🍾. Our server Nittiyana was outstanding.

Southern always catches this Mississippian ... roasted cabbage-- didn't need cheese drowning it; stuffed squash with croutons and other unrecognizable stuff, chicken looked a little dark ... but the flavor was on point. Cornbread ... sweetbread ... not sure. Fried green tomatoes .. sits on a mound of pimento cheese, topped with apple compote... too much ... Forget it. Too much going on with traditional dishes.

Went here on a Saturday morning for a bday brunch party of 8. There was a reservation made, but they chose to sit us outside on the patio when it wasn't requested. We were told that there was only one table inside that would've been big enough to accommodate our party, but it was unavailable. The inside was nice though. The birthday girl was upset but we went with it. We were seated immediately although everyone hadn't arrived yet. The hostess was very nice and our waitress was too. I wish I had remembered her name, but I don't. Her service was excellent!! With a party of 8, we pretty much ordered almost everything on the menu. The brunch menu had about 10-15 items. I ordered the mimosa flight, deviled eggs, and the croissant, but I tasted the hushpuppies, fried chicken skillet cake, and pimento cheese, and it was good. For me, the croissant was huge, but it had too much egg and not enough bacon. Came with only two strips, but I know they used 3 or 4 eggs to make it. The eggs weren't seasoned, nor was the spinach that was on it. And the croissant itself was dry. They should offer some sort of jelly. The small potatoes that came with it needed more seasoning. For the money, the mimosa flight wasn't ideal for me. I would've been better getting a carafe price wise. Everything else I tasted was good. Overall, I would go back but not for the brunch menu. The only things that stood out were the chicken, hush puppies, and pimento cheese.

What a most incredible dining experience! @chefbankswhite and the team @thesoutherngentlemanatl have truly outdone themselves. The experience starts from the moment you enter the establishment until the moment you depart. Upon arrival, I was greeted ever so warmly by a most gracious host, who promptly checked me, alerted me that one of my guests was at the bar, and shared I would be seated as soon as the other members of my party arrived. At the bar, I engaged in friendly banter with the bartender about making the best drinks ever and I had an Old Fashioned earlier. He offered to make one and promised it would be amazing and he did not disappoint! While waiting, Chef comes over to welcome us to the establishment, as he and I had worked together, previously. We then got seated and the tastings/culinary delight began. @chefbankswhite and team took us on a journey of infused and combined flavors that forced you to stop and savor each bite. It seemed that with each serving the food simply got better. Every dish was full of flavor and personality. Every dish was so exquisitely delicious, I must list them out…#whitecheddarhushpuppies with #goatcheesecrema, #friedgreentomatoes #smokedlardons #whippedpimentocheese, #deviledeggs, #smokedgoudamacncheese, #gulfshrimpngrits, #berkshireporkchop #honeyglaze #smokedbaconnyellowcornsuccotash, #sweetpotatocornbread, #braisedshortribpotroast #smokedgoudapotatopuree, #castironpeachcobbler I must mention we had the most incredible server ever - Michael. I really wanted to like this place but the food and service was neglectful. I ordered the Chicken and Country Skillet cake and I had to send it back because the chicken was undercooked. My waitress was nonchalant about the situation. When another staff member brought me a new plate of food, she didn’t bother to check up if everything was okay. It was not. The photo is of the second dish. Chicken was still pink and that’s one thing I refuse to eat if it’s undercooked and my skillet cake had an over cooked bottom. My friend ordered the same thing and she had no issues. Mistakes happen, which is understandable, but back to back uncooked food combined with a cold waitress is unacceptable. I still paid for my food and left, I didn’t want to inconvenience the waitress anymore.

Nothing to complain about here! We had a date here and tried the buttermilk fried chicken and my goodness was it yummy! Sweet potato cornbread? Yes please. Service was quick, and attentive and the atmosphere was very relaxed, with dim lighting. We will be back to try other items on the menu.

Good food, but even greater service and drinks from Winona! The Southern Sass and She’s a Peach cocktails were excellent! We had the pork belly, white cheddar hush puppies, pork chop with succotash, fried chicken, and peach upside-down cake. Great experience!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta, they have great food and drinks. From the free fried green tomatoes, smoked Gouda Mac and cheese, to the short rib. You can't go wrong with anything here.

The waitress was awesome. She really was. The food to me was just ok. We had two watered down sprites. No ice available. I expected based on the YouTube video a better experience/atmosphere. The restaurant was dirty. I sat near the air conditioner- blue thing. I wouldn’t return. This is not my type of vibe. We are more upscale.. I am definitely not knocking , but expected more. My husband didn’t like it at all.

Southern Gentleman was a good dining experience. Very clean and modern interior. Service staff wore leather aprons. Dishes looked spectacular. Pork belly was not as good as it looks, lacked a bit of savory and crisp. Hush puppies and rolls were unique and rich. Mac and cheese and steak were standard but nothing to brag about.

Our staff had a post holiday dinner at the restaurant and it was an amazing event. The patio area was very cozy and warm, our server Michael was professional, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The food and drinks were delicious and there were options for our vegan and vegetarian team members. Michael the GM and Katrina the Events Coordinator have created a very hospitable and down home posh environment. We will certainly be returning!

😠 DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Terrible service! The server cannot remember what you ordered…it cannot be that hard to write it down. Friends waited for (Hennessy) drinks…at the same table for an hour and 15min. It took the bartender 3 tries….It took over an hour to get food even with a reservation. YOU CAN...
