Quirky neighborhood coffee shop in West Midtown. The inside has a lot of character with furniture that doesn't match each other, adding a uniqueness and personality to each corner of the shop. Things you should know: I. PARKING There's street parking off Marrietta St NW you can take full advantage of & off 3rd St NW. If there isn't any available spots, then you can park in the apartment across the street from Urban Grind. II. SERVICE No complaints III. QUALITY Good ~ I like that they have sugar free caramel and vanilla syrup options. I've never personally tried their pastries but I see eoople order them all the time so they have to be good, right? IV. CAPACITY For a Sunday morning, available seating was slim. Business is good.

Superb coffee. Comfy seats. Fast wifi. And It’s black owned. What more could you want from your local coffee shop in Atlanta. Get the iced caramel macchiato please and get to work 🥳

The Urban Grind is an okay coffee shop. It's full of old upholstered furniture that is very worn-out and not very inviting. There are chairs and tables too. I ordered an oat milk latte, which came with very loose foam and an espresso shot that was very weak. It tasted like oat milk, very little coffe taste. My hubby ordered an espresso that he said was very weak and graded it a 2. There are three free parking spaces alongside the shop otherwise you have to pay for parking on the street in front of the shop. There were many baked goods which we didn't try.

Quaint little coffee shop in midtown Atlanta. The interior design is great (sofas and tables) and fast internet (pretty sure they have gigabit based on my speeds). Super friendly staff. The coffee itself was better than the standard cafes I go to. The one I got was called Urban Grind Blend (their blend obv), though had a little dry aftertaste. Highly recommend going here to study or just go chill with your friends.

We visited here on a chilly, rainy day before driving home to Birmingham, AL. I got a fruity, hot tea, a sandwich, and a bag of chips. My other two friends each got the fancy grilled cheese and a coffee. Everything tasted delicious, and the grilled cheese was VERY cheesy! The servers were kind and service was fairly quick, the sandwiches took the longest. The atmosphere was very relaxing and laid back with cool chairs and couches, also the lighting felt cozy. I noticed they also provide a printer for students or professionals that utilize the coffee shop, and I loved that!

This is Black Owned and I love it!! I’m so glad I finally got a chance to support the owner and meet her. She was so and helpful. I will definitely be back to support her and spread the word! It has a chill and cozy vibe to it. There are places to sit inside and even outside to enjoy the scenery. They have free wifi and great customer service. I had a Iced Caramel Macchiato and was very delicious. So many are other options you can choose from tea, frappe, coffee, espresso, latte and even food options. There is free limited parking on the farther right side of the stores but if you want to park in the front it’s not free. There is a meter but not sure the cost.

Small, quiet place. I'm not a huge special coffee fan. Met friends for a meeting. Only street parking was available. It's probably neighborhood based. I hear they have great event nights.

Unnecessary wait for basic consumption. There is clearly no competition in the area for service like this. Plus they only have 3, yes 3 parking spots for customers. You can park across the street or pay for the side street parking. In the end, Atlanta has better places for breakfast.

I love this place! The food is DELICIOUS, the set up is BEAUTIFUL, and customer service is great too... I’m a vegetarian and I LOVE their Veggie Burger. I’ve never had anything like it. So good. Their teas are great also. My favorites are the Wildberry tea and the Chamomile Tea. Definitely recommend

very cute, lovely staff, welcoming environment, great coffee. this cafe is the epitome of what it means to be a local coffee shop. not only does it support the community by offering a safe space for all people, it also offers printing services, a place to buy from and support local creators, and provides a diverse menu at affordable prices. if you are looking for a local black-owned business to support, Urban Grind has my vote. i will definitely be returning. best of luck and all my love.

Amazing coffee shop! Customer service was great! The staff was really friendly and helpful. I got a cinnamon muffin ( I think that's what it was called) and a truffle mocha. The BEST mocha I've ever had! Very smooth and packed with flavor. They have street parking and there is also a lot across the street. We were visiting from NY and I'm so glad we stopped. Wish we had a place like this nearby!

Really 2.5, I’ll give it three because I can tell they are severely understaffed. Ordered a breakfast sandwich to find out they made it in the microwave? $5 for microwaved eggs. Moving onto the drinks which saved them. Cappuccino was nice and strong. The service was a LONNNG wait. My Boyfriend got an early grey which he thoroughly enjoyed but had to wait tens minutes for it. Atmosphere I loved random furniture cozy vibe I could see the potential.

I have been an "UrbanGrinder" for the past 3 years. This eclectic coffee shop is just the spot to get work done. I would recommend if you're looking for an eclectic vibe to get work done. It's not too loud which I appreciate. I can even phone calls inside without yelling or being overpowered by the cappuccino machine. The customer service has always been great and I love that the owner comes in and actively engages with the customers and front desk staff. Don't forget to try the banana nut muffin! Thank you Juliana, Kyle and Jalen <3

I just went to Urban Grind and usually I have a pleasant experience. However, the boy with long curly hair was unbelievably rude to me as well as his super friendly coworker. Not only this. I was overcharged. Given a wrong drink. And given the wrong size of drink. Drink was horribly made, not hot either. It was a horrible experience. Waited way too long for 2 drinks.

Their raspberry white chocolate mocha is my favorite. I usually sit outside when I go but the patio is extremely comfortable. Opt for the shaded side. The surrounding area is cozy and there are tons of restaurants around.

no but for real my chai latte was one of the best I've ever had..and a very chill vibe. I took off a star because they don't accept cash and imo that is elitist behavior. every one doesn't have a card or might not choose to use it for such a small purchase. other than that, it's cool 😎

I go to this establishment often, their coffee is some of the best in ATL! They for sure set the standard! This is a small coffee shop with one single bathroom, sometimes it is clean...the tiolet area was not and this is not the first time. I observed that they now lock the bathroom. As a small business with an inviting place to study, meetups, delicious coffee and bake goods and services. As customers, we need to be responsible to clean after ourselves. Help the small businesses out by cleaning after yourself. To the owner thank you for your business. I think it would be good to have wipes in the bathroom and possibly a swifter. Just a suggestion. Blessings and prosperity to your business. ** I passed on using the restroom but the young lady working went that direction when I left. She is always so pleasant and willing to serve.**

I came here for the first time today by pure chance. Things haven't been going well for me in life as of late, and today felt like the worst of it. I was met by Julianna who cared enough to listen and make me feel welcome when I came up to the counter to order. Thank you Urban Grind for baristas like Julianna who meet guests with empathy and kindness -- even on their worst days. For a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a classic coffeehouse vibe, Urban Grind will feed your soul with great coffee and wonderful people.

I like the atmosphere at Urban Grind and the fact that is Black-owned. Being able to order breakfast that consists of more than a pastry is a plus. My only complaint is that on more that one occasion, I have attempted to patronize them, but when I arrived at the stated opening time (Sat 8:30 AM), they were still closed and the inside was dark. In disappointment, I drove to my second choice.

Awesome coffee shop. Stopped by for a small bite to eat and coffee. They have breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and lunch sandwiches later in the day. There are two designated parking spots to the side of the shop, and regular parallel spots on the street out front. Worth a trip!

First, my drink was absolutely divine! The gentleman behind the counter put so much care into it. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered it twice! Second, you won’t find people much friendlier. I wish I lived closer to this place and I absolutely cannot recommend enough. This was a wonderful experience all together.

The food and furniture decor is definitely the best part of this coffee shop. The space is a bit tight. Arrived at opening so the place wasn’t as crowded but soon got pretty busy and crowded. The staff was pleasant and welcoming.

I’ve been going to urban grind for about 2-3 years and they keep getting better and improving on the little things. They’ve become a staple in the community with the open mic nights and poetry nights they host. This place is definitely a vibe.

vibe is nice. it's a pretty low-key shop. there are a only a few accessible outlets, but i enjoyed this place. the chai is VERY GOOD, so that alone is enough to come back.

Literally love this place, idk if it’s underrated or not but like wAY better than dancing goats! Love the vanilla latte and their “caramel vanilla macchiato latte” can’t remember, had a long name but something like that. Although that one is a lot sweeter, but pretty looking, and the vanilla latte is a good level of sweetness compared to that. But depends on the mood!! And how hot it is. Limited parking, prob should just walk. Inside is cute with comfy couches and chairs if you wanna do work there. I think they’re best for iced stuff!

  • 1/5 Eliza W. 1 year ago on Google
I ordered a large cold brew and realized after paying that I hadn’t asked for it without ice. I asked the employee if I could have it without ice, thinking the cup would be filled with cold brew the way that other coffee shops fill it to the top. The employee sloppily scooped out the ice and gave me a sticky half full cup of watered down coffee. On top of this, I had to wait awhile for anyone to take my order, and felt as though I was inconveniencing them when I asked for no ice, as the employee was very rude. If I knew I would be coming here to get a $5 half cup of coffee, I would’ve chosen a different coffee shop.

The vibe is amazing. I come here at least twice a week to study for nursing school, and the food and coffee is on point. Honorable mention to the barista CORNELIUS aka Pisces, any time he’s at work I know the everything will be on point! I usually get the caramel macchiato latte w/oat milk. The pesto chicken panini busts too!

I think I've found my new soul haven in my new neighborhood. When I tell ya, that Chai latte with oat milk started this luv affair off like a sweet precious kiss, and when i got home, it was luv at first bite of my breakfast croissant.. the atmosphere and service were definitely my kinda of vibe 👍🏾 🧘🏽‍♂️

They were out of caramel for one of their signature drinks, they didn't have skim milk, & I didn't receive the requested whipped cream on my drink. That being said, the drink that I received was good & the place is in a cute little area, so sitting outside on the patio offers nice people watching. I would give them another try, hopefully they would be fully stocked at that time.

So I live in NJ. I visited Atlanta a month ago. I visited 3 coffee shops for chai lattes while in ATL. THIS was the best one. I even came back to NJ, home of coffee shops, and STILL can’t find a chai latte as tasty! Seriously.

This is the best coffee shop that i have ever been too. They really set the bar high. I had this tea made from chamomile, wild berry , and lemon grass and it was amazing. I just left urban grind after waiting at least 50 min for a cappachino, chai latte, and two breakfast sandwiches. The older gentleman with glasses continued to make and serve customer orders that came after me. I’ve been living directly across from Urban Grind since 2012 and have never went through these issues Cassandra was owner. I will not be going again.

Despite a notice on the door saying masks were required to enter, the barista did not wear a mask during the entire interaction with me or while preparing my drink. The coffee shop seemed overcrowded with about 20 customers sitting inside, several of whom were not wearing masks and not distanced. Would not recommend going in during the COVID pandemic.

Stopped in for a quick drink and dessert. Ordered an iced mocha, it was delicious. The cashier/barista was very nice and the drink was made very fast. I also ordered a slice of the orange poppy loaf, the loaf was fine, a tad bit dense but not bad. I wish i would have stayed longer because of how cute the place is. Will definitely be returning! Street parking is pretty much the only option.

I really enjoyed the aesthetic of this cute and comfortable coffee shop. The small touches like the hand written menu and the multiple options made me feel like it was unique and authentic. I saw that they had multiple open mic nights of differing styles which I hope to go to and experience. As for the coffee, I had a sweet iced latte (white chocolate raspberry mocha) and my partner had their coffee of the day which was a light roast. My drink could have used much more ice and a lighter hang on the syrups, but was still pleasant. The light roast was bright and floral, but a bit lacking in flavor profile. We ended up switching our drinks because I much prefer the light roast style. The inside was also EXTREMELY warm, almost stuffy. Even though it was 85 and sunny, it was more comfortable outside. Definitely would have liked the place more if there was a comfortable temperature.

Very friendly and unique coffee shop! We paid for very cheap parking across the street and once we ordered, we had our coffee within minutes. The banana nut and cinnamon streusel muffins were enormous and delicious. We sat for a couple hours and worked on our computers. The background noise was perfect for getting a little work done.

Coffee was good and pastries are decent. My husband was extremely annoyed that we had to wait outside, 10 minutes pass opening time in the cold . They saw us but didn’t acknowledge us until we knocked a couple of times…and they didn’t know the wi-fi passcode. We came eager to support a black business, but was not met with the same eagerness. First impression was a failure. Better options are available in this beautiful city.

One of my favorite places to visit and get work done. Coffee is awesome but a little pricey for a college budget, but the pastries are great and very reasonably priced. Everyone is very kind and the atmosphere is wonderful. Absolutely helped me and my friends get through our last semesters at Tech, I’m going to miss it here when I graduate.
