Grand Millennium is a weak contender in the Auckland hotel competition, especially in comparison to relatively more affordable and welcoming alternatives nearby. The rooms are spacious, but do not feel modern or premium. The service is responsive but not amicable, especially because many of the staff seem frustrated. However, Grand Millennium's biggest issue is the hotel's lack of accessible entertainment and dining options. The elitist and pretentious restaurants, amenities and events offered by Grand Millennium are unapproachable and unnecessary. It is of utmost importance that Grand Millennium Auckland remembers the fundamentals of hospitality before focusing on special features.

Excellent location, central to many attractions and restaurants (including in the hotel), and a short walk to the ferry dock. The service was good, though we didn't need much. The room was clean and up-to-date. I don't know if this is a NZ thing, but the hot water tap was scalding hot, like dangerously so, so be careful. They do use the kind of key card that can be accidentally wiped by proximity to your cell phone, which I find outdated for a hotel. It's a bummer to turn up to the elevator with an armload of food only to not be able to get on, and have to get a new key card created.

I will be very honest for other people who are considering this hotel. 1. Room 3/5 -Nice and clean but it was shocking that i have a cheap thin blanket only. The room was very cold and you can hear what others doing outside. 2. Breakfast buffet 2/5 -For $35 it’s totally not worth it. You will get food that you can cook by yourself. Especially, if you are Asian, don’t even think about going there. 3. Location 3/5 -You have to walk more than 10 minutes to go to CBD. 4. Reception 2/5 -Everything was very confusing…. The receptionist told me I can pay breakfast at the restaurant and when I tried to pay there, the restaurant staff told me I need to pay at the reception? Also I can understand you are short staff so have no one who can escort me to the room, but at least explain me where is the gym and lift…. And i asked for the extra toothbrush and toothpaste, the receptionist told me he will arrange the room service so i can just go upstairs? I waited for almost 30 minutes but still no one came upstairs so had to call the room service by myself. 5. Katsura restaurant 0/5 I really wanted to try this restaurant but they told me it’s fully booked till next month. It would be nice if you guys could leave some tables for the hotel guests…. Believe it or now… I’m a very easy person to keep being happy, but the experience that I had with this hotel is just horrible. Never use this hotel again.

I would recommend this hotel. It is nicely located inside Auckland City Centre and about 5-10 mins walk to Queens Street, the shopping area. Parking is easy at $25 for 24 hrs with multiple entries. The hotel staff will help you to register your vehicle via the parking system, and the car plate recognition system will ease your entry/exit. The hotel room is spacious, and fits 2 queen size bed, one coffee table with 2 Arm Chairs. The bar counter provide many types of beverages Sachets. Toilet is spacious too. It has both bath tub and shower room. However, I was surprise to know that they don’t provide tooth brush/shaving kits (I don’t need actually). There is a gym, pool and sauna (it was out of order) at Level 4. But the pool was very heated. Just normal temperature. The breakfast has good selection of English breakfast, self-made Pancake machine, raw honey, salad bar, gluten-free pastries, etc. the dining environment is good with pipe-in music. While normal coffee & tea Sachet are provided, they charge extra for machine-made gourmet beverages, such as, hot chocolate, flat White, etc. however, staff failed to pre-inform us about the extra charges. They should made know to the guests prior to ordering.

My husband and I were absolutely NOT happy with the check-in process. We were given this certain room and when we opened it, there were already guests inside. The couple who were in the room even shouted at us.It was awful.I was carrying my 7 month-old baby that time.We can't blame them for their reaction and we can't be blamed as well because we were given the same room key cards. My husband complained in the reception and we were made to wait for almost an hour for them to give us a different room. Hubby and I were already tired and our baby was already fussy and tired too. It was really not acceptable. It was awful and a traumatic experience (to be shouted at by other guests while holding my baby).Hubby told the staff about that too. They didn't even make extra effort to check on us after we have settled in. They just got us a different room and that's it. We went there to be relaxed. But we got more stressed instead.

First time at Grand Millennium. Front desk was friendly and helpful. I was suprised how big it is. Room was tidy and big. There was a 🛁, which is a plus. Centrally located, so you can walk to K-road, or Queens street. Downside will be parking, you have to pay for it, even as a guest. But it was wasn't much. I didn't eat at the hotel because I wanted to explore K-road and it's nightlife and great range of food.

Have been staying here for 10 days as part of managed isolation. I have zero complaints. The food was excellent considering the circumstances under which is prepared and served. All staff have been super friendly and helpful. Thanks for making miq better than I had expected

After spending over a grand to stay at this place for 3 nights you would think the atrium balcony would be open for paying customers to view the sky tower at night, this is not the case. Around 11pm we were yelled at by this Indian gentleman and asked to leave the atrium, he then followed us to the elevator and waited for us to leave. I have stayed here twice now and the first time this was not the case as we were able to view the sky tower at anytime at night. Very disappointed by this and this made us very uncomfortable. Rooms are always nice, unfortunately the tv is very outdated.

It was nice to finally be back. With the hotel being in MIQ we were so happy to be returning back as customers. As always the staff were very friendly and very welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. Beautiful hotel.

Actually in love with this hotel, the staff were so nice and welcome - always greeting you everyday. The room was immaculate, loved how big the room was. Obsessed with their lobby, I love how nice it always smell! And I love their buffet breakfast! Their options are endless. Takes 5 min or less depending on your walk to get to the main shopping centre

Had a wonderful experience at the hotel for our wedding anniversary. Friendliest of greetings on arrival even though they were busy with it being the All Blacks vs Springboks game. Food at the Brasserie was top notch. My boys loved the steaks! The pool and gym facilities were excellent. Icing on the cake was when I forgot my earbuds and Georgina went out of her way to have them returned to me. Thank you very much, Georgina! Looking forward to returning again soon. 😊😊😊

I was told breakfast was included on checking in, then that it wasn’t on checking out. I should probably have checked my booking paperwork, but foolishly took their word for it. Deposit taken from my card twice and reception not overly helpful about how it is going to be resolved. Dated rooms, though clean and well located.

We stayed here the first night of our NZ trip which ended up being a bummer two parking tickets later. The front desk employee told us to park in the lot next to the building at check in. It was our mistake we didn't see the garage and parked in the city lot next to the garage. My frustration with the hotel though is with the slip of paper they gave us to pay for the hotel parking which would have given us the chance to catch our error. The evening desk employee said don't worry, you can pay online in the morning. We didn't trust this so we tried to pay online when we got back to our room (upon parking the car). There was no valid website (my daughter and I tried many variations) so we went to bed and trusted the evening desk employee. (Narrator: Huge mistake). In the morning we go out to 2 - $85 tickets. I head back in and ask to speak to the manager who listened and didn't say anything. Instead of wrapping up and telling me too bad, he takes a call leaving me waiting for 5 minutes and then comes back to say he is doing nothing. He verified the website on the paper didn't work and took no accountability. I was hoping to split the tickets as we had responsibility (the garage directions and description were poor & there was no payment website). Instead, we changed our flight and are skipping a final stay with this hotel. The rest of our experience in NZ has been spectacular.

My experience definitely grants 5 stars for Hotel Grand Millennium. Loved it’s location, service, staff and amenities. 👍 Just a casual walk away from the city cafes and restaurants. 👍 Easy entrance, with safe and secured parking. 35 nzd for multiple entries is so fair. 👍👍 Room service was a bit delayed coz I had to call back and remind them but I understand it was after midnight and a very small order. However I really needed that coffee and it was well made to suit my taste and preference. So thank you 🙏 Stayed for 2 nights. Had great view of the city. Good size. The 2 double beds were clean, and cosy. Bath was clean and had more than enough amenities. Has a pretty large lounge area at the entrance and lots of space. Nice restaurants on the premises. Breakfast was nice. Wanted to try the on site Japanese restaurant(love Japanese cuisine)but couldn’t find time from hanging out with family friends. Had an easy checkout. 6am after a long loud energetic night with my childhood girlfriends . The staff addressed me with a slow and soft voice and he took care of the fact I looked tired and sleepy. Thank you 🙏 I also wish to thank Neha, the staff at the hotel who took the courtesy of calling me back and helping out with my inquiry. 👍🙏 Overall good experience 👍👍☺️. Thank you Grand Millennium 🌸🦋🌸🦋🌸🦋.

Well it was pretty OK. We Asked to check in a little earlier than usual and they did all they could and we were able to check in around 11 which was nice of them ! The rooms were clean but the pictures showed a big spa tub next to the bed and it turned out they don’t actually have those so they were pretty misleading. The TVs were not great. The screen mirroring function didn’t work with any of our devices so we were unable to watch anything except the cable they have that had a paltry selection of channels. We call the helpdesk about the TV situation and they said yeah it doesn’t work but don’t worry we’re upgrading our TVs next year. Which is great, if we were staying there next year but obviously that would not help us in our current situation so it didn’t make me feel any better. we asked if they had any HDMI cables so we could possibly connect a laptop to the TV and they didn’t even have any which is kind of weird do you think they would just have one lying around but OK. We went to the indoor pool and it was fine but the water was just a little too cold to be comfortable unless you’re just using it for exercise. The breakfast was not included and was quite pricey for the small amount of options with small portions. also construction is being done right outside our room and it’s pretty noisy. All in all I wouldn’t call this a four-star hotel, I think it’s a three star at best. I think it’s not too much to ask to have functioning smart TVs in the year of 2022 for a hotel at this price point. sounds spoiled but we spent a lot of time in our room just watching TV with commercials like it was 1997 but it’s fine I guess. I just expected more for the money and the pictures we saw on the website. But the service was fine and they were nice. All in all I give this hotel an “it’ll do I suppose”.

Good location, pretty central to the main CBD, K-Rd and Ponsonby. Hotel rooms are decent enough, staff are super helpful and welcoming. Swimming pool and sauna were pretty nice. Didn't use any of the other facilities (food/drink).

We've stayed at this hotel many times over the last 20years, back when it was a Carlton, then Rendezvous. It's always maintained, comfortable, clean and welcoming. Slightly let down this time with water pressure in the shower being less than optimal and buffet breakfast food was not hot. Otherwise great service and amenities, we will be back.

Our stay at the Grand Millennium was excellent. The property feels luxurious. Beautiful lobby/bar area. Restaurant on site though we didn't end up trying it. The rooms were huge (double queen) and the beds were heavenly. Very clean. Huge bathroom with separate shower/tub and nice vanity area. Gym is spacious. Pool was a bit cold and we wished for a hot tub. Location is very central, about a 20 min walk from Britomart station. Staff were accommodating.

This is my favourite place to stay in Auckland! It's so easy to get to the trains, shopping, restaurants! The staff are friendly, rooms are amazing! And they did a awesome job on my birthday surprise! Absolutely love it! 😍

Beautiful place to stay and the Cocktail bar next the main lobby is INCREDIBLE - The bar staff (Thomas and Connor) served us up the best cocktails we've ever had. They were so polite, energetic and enthusiastic it was really refreshing. They make the top notch cocktails.

Very good spacious and clean room. Well maintained and clean public spaces. Will be definitely going back. We stayed with the 5star properties around the world before but first time kids didn’t want to leave and asked when will be back to the this hotel again.

The rooms were spacious, tidy and clean however we did need to ask for our room to be serviced for one of the days. Bathroom was nice just the water in our shower was quite hard to regulate the temp. I would also like to point out to the hotel that towels should be provided for all guests including children no matter age. We kept asking for an extra towel or we took the pool towels because it was easier. SAFETY: The opening window in the room is low enough (mid shin height) and gap is big enough for a child so just be mindful is you do open it with kids around. Facilities: gym looked awesome we were sad we didn’t talk out gym gear. Lovely lounging area near pool. The pool area was quite cold and the pool was as well so we couldn’t keep our little in there for very long. Parking - we had difficulty with the paid parking in the building but the staff were helpful on check to rectify. Valet parking wasn’t available due to not having enough staff with licences. Food: The breakfast was really disappointing bacon was dry and hard like plastic, the scrambled eggs were powdered egg no other egg choices present for one of the days. The bread was so stale and the toaster either cooks on one side or burns both sides no matter what setting. I would totally expect better for $40 per adult I would not recommend paying for the breakfast. Barista coffee was great. The dinner room service menu was fine. Mini bar was not filled and no drinking water provided $10 for a 1L bottle was a bit steep. The hotel is not super close to restaurants and cafes you will need to Uber if you have little ones probably don’t book if you are looking for kid friendly eating hotel for under 5s.

I had a great stay at the hotel. The room is cozy, big toilet and very clean, the only thing I don't like is the aircon in the room, i think it's not working properly as it doesn't get cold, so I had to open my windows so the cold air from the outside will make the room cool. But overall, I had a great stay as it is walking distance to queen st where everything is.

Good hotel but 1 star for not having any water in the room. I called room service and was shocked to find out that they only offer water at a dispenser at the front desk. They charge an absurd $8 per bottle plus a $6 on top for delivery to the room. For any hotel to charge this much for what is a basic human need is atrocious. Won’t be staying at this hotel again!

After enjoying the fantastic seafood buffet at Katsura, we spent the night in a room that was visibly dusty, causing discomfort for someone with dust allergies. Additionally, the air conditioning wasn't working well and needed replacement. We opted to skip their $39 per person basic breakfast buffet and walked over to Grand Skycity Hotel where they offered a more extensive breakfast selection for $45 per person. The staff at receptions are very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was an okay experience for the price paid (apart from the dust, that is just unacceptable hence the 2 stars).

Horrible hotel. I’ve stayed in much nicer $40 a night motels than this place. The room is pitch black & musty. Started sneezing the sec I walked in there. You need a flashlight to look through your luggage. The elevators take a solid 10min… you think I’m exaggerating. There is no WIFI, as they advertise & the key to my room quit working before my stay was up. I was in a deluxe room too. Avoid!

The hotel was being worked on (modifications), so it did not look as exclusive as planned. However, the hotel was great until we had a flood in our room. We were able to change rooms, but the 2nd room was not as fancy. The 5 star restaùrant was not open. Because of the modifications being done, but the Japanese restaurant was open and very good.

Pro: Hotel room is cozy, nice bed, clean toilet. Breakfast is great! Con: Booked 2 nights for 3 guests, but room was given 2 bath towels only. Had to request from Conceige for both nights. On the second night, the reception staff told us that the towel will be sent to the room, but the towel never came. Called Conceige but was told that we have to go down to ground floor to collect it ourselves. Hotel check-out time is 11am but my group was locked out of room from 9.30am, seriously this is first I had encountered.

Really enjoyed our night here! Stayed with my husband and a few of my family members for my 30th birthday, we were all raving about how nice / luxurious this hotel is for the price. It was much cheaper than other hotels of similar quality. The only minor suggestions I’d make is that the buffet breakfast could be a bit more lush (there were no croissants / bagels etc, it was quite basic). My niece ordered an eggs bene and she couldn’t stomach the salmon, we all sniffed and thought it seemed off. She wasn’t charged for it so that was lovely :) Also a few things were falling apart in our room (the bag shelf and a bedside table). Other than that, we were really impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Loved the pool, delicious room service options, overall awesome service and quality hotel. Thank you so much!! We will be back :)

Stayed in November 2023. Service was excellent, right from the time of arrival when the concierge meet us at the car (an Uber), to checking in, and the bags were delivered to the room before we had finished checking in. Service from the the food and bar staff was again excellent. We were lucky enough to be there for the opening of the new downstairs bar and cocktail list. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. If I had a negative comment, it might be that it took a little time to get used to the various corridors leading to our room, but by day two we were comfortable finding our way around. The location is good, a short walk to the Sky Tower (6 mins), or 2 minutes to the top end of Queens Street. I had a business meeting at the bottom end of Queen street, so I Ubered one way ($8), and grabbed a Lime Scooter on the way back ($6). The Grand Millennium is now our hotel of choice when staying in Auckland.

Concierge staff were amazing. Help with bags and parking. Spot on. Front desk were slow and couldn't understand our group booking. Insisting I pay upfront for rooms booked by my company. Parking is not convenient. It's convoluted. Elevator up to near/behind reception. Then a walk the width of the building to the other elevator to go up to your floor. Food options are horrific. Room service options are limited, arrived cold and it's not very nice. Staff were unable to tell us what allergen friendly options were available. One person saying something is gluten free, another saying it's not. It's a good way for someone to get very sick. Had to wait 30 mins for someone to let us know if we could order anything for Celiac. Costs a small fortune. Uber Eats arrived cold because the delivery guy was on a bike. Also had no cutlery or napkins. Rooms are ok. Very clean. Lighting is a nightmare. Cannot do make up in the bathroom. I understand it is an old building, however lighting can definitely be updated. We had no teaspoons for our coffee. No cutlery or plates for Uber Eats. Bathrooms are nice and large. Have large full baths which was great to relax in. Decor is a little outdated but I really like the architecture of the building. It could be so 70's/80's glamour but it's not meeting it's full potential. I hope the current construction pays homage to the history of the building as well as bringing facilities in to the current decade. The highlight of the stay was the bar in the atrium. Staff were lovely. Great customer service. We had the clarified pina colada and it was to DIE for. I don't normally like creamy cocktails but this thing was out of this world tasty without being too sweet. Overall, if I needed to stay there again, I would purely to have that cocktail again and I love the architecture. I would bring a lot of snacks becasue the rooms don't have a microwave to prepare any food and the room service is a HARD PASS and I'm not going to bother with Uber Eats again. Typically we would have gone out to eat but we were traveling with kids/babies and the weather wasn't good enough to take them out. Getting the car in and out wasn't worth trying to drive through a city where all the roads are blocked only to return to find the carpark full due to it servicing the general public. Not just guests. Valet parking should be offered. It's ridiculous that it isn't. It speaks to the "cheapness" operating cost of this place. The parking is not convenient. Especially if you are elderly or have children. This place could be incredible. If it was done right. Concierge and bar staff saved this place.

2nd time returning to the Grand Millennium for an event. The events team were wonderful to deal with in the lead up and the on day team were terrific also. Nothing was too much of a hassle and everyone was so friendly. The rooms were fine however the service and food quality had deteriorated quite a bit since my visit 1 year ago. I believe they had just had a shift in management? So hopefully that all irons out soon!

Gorgeous place to stay. Spent 2 nights here. The reception was excellent, very helpful staff and smelled very nice and clean! Plenty of elevators so no need to wait long. The room was great, although it had a broken interior door, no biggie. Pool and gym facilities were great, and parking was easy! Had to pay 25 per night to park, but this was expected.

Rooms are not sound proof at all. I can hear every single toilet flush from next room and even their conversations! Hard to sleep with this huge noise. Food is terrible and didn’t feel like a great place to stay or eat. They don’t even provide 2 bottles of water per day which is a standard service per room.

Staying for Jacindas welcome back event for citizens. Room wise, a good size, the bed is awesome and if the circumstances were different, overall awesome. If you can choose your furniture combo, it would be even better. The hotel people are very obliging and can juggle food on the MIQ fixed menu if it is spicy. If you order something, it is there almost straight away and have no complaints at all with GM.

Location is great. Very near from all but not in the middle of noise of city buz. Rooms are great, amenities are good. Currently restaurents are under renovation. So food choices are not very very limited. Staffs are nice, cordial and helpful.

Personally I haven't been here. But my close friend stayed there as part of his quarantine. He was very upset with the food that he asked us if we could arrange some food for him. He ordered from Uber Eats on the other days.

Poorest experience ever! The website description of a superior experience is very misleading. The bad experience started from carpark when we we’re allocated a space but when we got there another car already taken that space so we have to look for another carpark, went to hotel reception to get it sorted and was told it’s not there problem but will call the company who’ve assigned a carpark on the 7th floor which is going to take us time to go out and move then come back in… we insisted that we’re not going to move the car then they let us stay where we parked the car…. (Lost an hour of our time already trying to sort the carpark)… we to the room to the which was used by my husband the night before- no room service, no towels and sink was blocked. Called reception who’ve brought the towels up but no one came to fix the sink blockage. Also reception promised to have room service the next day. We went out the next day expecting the room to be fresh and clean when we get back around 9pm but when we got to our room we were disgusted that the room was not clean, the dirty food trays with leftover food still there. We called the duty manager to come and have a look and she agreed that this is not a good experience. I good feel my legs started to get itchy from no vacuum or room service in the last 2 days. The manager offered to move us to another room and some food that night but it’s still not enough as it was our 21st anniversary and we wanted to have a good time but we end up with a POOR experience. We could’ve had a good time at a cheaper accommodation. The manager promised to get her boss to email us but no contact at all from anyone at the hotel. Wasted weekend!

Location is 8/10. Cleanliness: 6/10 Staffs: 7/10 Room: 6/10 But the rest , I am not satisfied. The phone can’t dial to concierge, room service , etc. hotel is kinda old and I feel dirty. The most dissatisfied is the TV, it blocked for HDMI, which I have FireTV. NO CHROMECAST. the room has a bit smell. Only location is good. For the grand millennium standard, I don’t think they keep up with it that much.

This review is regarding the horrible meal we had at the Bistro upstairs. (The Japanese restaurant was closed) I asked the bar attendant who took our order if the food was freshly made. She responded that it was. The Nasi Goreng was the worst I have ever eaten. It was all precooked at some stage and re heated. The only thing freshly cooked was the fried egg. We had not eaten since breakfast so even bring really hungry didn’t make this any easier to eat., When we went to pay we were not asked how our meal was. When I gave the feedback after my husband paid it seem to have no impact.

Very stressful to say the least. I called a the day before to see if we could have an early check in as we had to drive a couple hours reception said no problem. Called on the day and the reception staff were very rude and arrogant. The rooms are very outdated and not very comforting at all. After not being able to get in touch with room service for an hour and there was no information on what could be ordered my husband and I went down to the bar to grab some drinks to try and relax us but the bar staff were rude and not very friendly. Also cannot believe that we have to pay extra for parking and the reception was not very helpful at explaining anything to us. We will NOT be back.

Loved our one night stay. Room was very clean and warm midwinter, comfy beds, powerful shower, car parking provided for $35 fee. We had our two young kids with us and sharing the two big beds worked well. No facilities other than a jug, cups and a small fridge. Microwave would be so useful! Cannot access other floors with your room card so make sure if multiple rooms booked that they're all on the same floor or it's a significant hassle.

After receiving unhelpful customer service from someone by email who basically said no without any alternatives to my request, I was greeted and helped at the front desk by Kristy, who was the complete opposite and was overly helpful! She helped me get into the check in queue early so that I could decorate the room before my friend arrived. I am so appreciative of Kristy, she really helped make my friends bday so special! The standard rooms are comfortable with a lovely large bathroom, parking is easy (for which I don’t mind having to pay the price for) and the location of the hotel is excellent, just by the top of queen st. The buffet breakfast is really affordable, around $30pp? Good selection of hot and cold food. Next time I stay I will visit the bar and try out their other facilities.

Great location; good rooms and a decent breakfast spread. For some strange reason, they wouldn’t cover a chai latte on their std breakfast offer and I had to pay extra. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The checkin staff didn’t originally give us right keys as we booked the club access, but corrected it when we asked for help. Someone entered our room one afternoon as they were told the wrong room, and the bell staff let them in because their card envelope said our room number. My dad was sleeping when it happened so gave him a fright. The club lounge happy hour included was fantastic and the staff are AWESOME! Thanks for the local tips to the bartender. View is amazing too. Only issue was that they had to ask for a vegetarian option one day and it took a while to come up. Unfortunately, it was just beetroot relish on top of rice crackers. Not really appetizing compared to the delicious meat and seafood options. The breakfast was excellent but come early because they stop stocking certain buffet items around 9:15/9:30 even though it’s until 10. (Like hollandaise and pastries). Barista coffee not included in buffet price. Staff all lovely again and food was yummy. Security staff and concierge were super friendly and helpful. Pool could use a refreshment and women’s bathroom smelled a bit like mildew. Sauna was very nice but almost a little too hot. Plenty of towels available in the bathroom. Could notice the walls needed a tidy here and there, which I didn’t expect with this hotel chain. My parents actually had a crack in the wall in their room.

We stayed here for a special birthday occasion. Highly recommend booking a room where you get access to the "millenium club". Cost extra, but it meant we were on the top floor aka away from the school ball noise, had a great view, and got our money's worth at the evening drinks and morning coffee. The room felt a little dated, but still classic, and everything was immaculate. Pool was a bit chilly but still enjoyable. Checkin could be smoother, I had to fill in a form with information I'm sure I already gave online.
