Location brilliant! Clean and access to all facilities (internet, The Cut (restaurant) & breakfast available. Dry cleaning only, no laundry facilities, car park at $26 dollars each entry! Request to have your rooms attended to otherwise, you won’t get fresh towels or clean sheets. We had to keep getting towels from the gym room because they didn’t clean our rooms by the time we returned (gone for hours) & at one stage had to go down stairs because they kept hanging up on me …. they did apologise and arranged fresh towels, emptied the bins etc minutes away from convenient stores, buses, casino, sky tower, restaurants, city etc we loved it! Gym also available.

The location is good. Just 2 min away from Sky Tower. Denny's, a 24-hour restaurant, is about 2 min away. The room is clean. However, I find the bed too soft. Bring your own toothbrush. The staff are friendly and helpful.

A nice location which is not exactly on the Main Street. Away from the noisy crowd and still easy access to a lot of places. The hotel staffs were very welcoming.. Not a very spacious lobby, sometimes might be busy in the lobby when a lot of guests are around. The room is comfy and spacious, clean room with great amenities. Recommend…! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

This place is ideally located. Service is good. Rooms were comfortable. No issues with accommodation. We didn't think too much of the breakfast. Only ate their once. The Bain Marie was not at the correct temperature, so all the food was Luke warm. I recommend you order freshly cooked eggs as you are guaranteed a hot meal. Not a lot of fruit choices. Jam in jars was not labelled, I saw a few people pick jars up & smell the jam - not hygienic. Most of the condiments were empty, so guests were having to ask for new bottles of sauces. Staff a bit slow to clear tables as well.

I left my power adapter in the room and I called the hotel immediately to let them knlw. The person at the front desk said that they will let housekeeping know and keep it for me to pick up the following week. When I returned, they had no clue about the conversation and of course, did not have my adapter. When I expressed my disappointment and dissatisfaction with the hotel procedure, the hotel manager was very dismissive and offered a very old, dirty adapter as a consolation. It was an insult to be offered that adapter. The hotel didn't care that they lost my stuff. Thankfully it was only an adapter and not something much more important.

Very neat place, good value for money. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Might be worth a mention that although there is parking, you have to pay separately for it, around $26.

Beds are like a giant pillow that will leave your back and neck aching. Bright lights beam in your window all night. Staff were good but I wouldn’t stay here if you want a good nights sleep.

Rydges in Auckland is simply fantastic! From the moment I walked in, I was met with friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure my stay was comfortable. The rooms are modern, spacious and impeccably clean, offering a splendid view of the city. The location is perfect, conveniently situated near local attractions. The food, especially at the on-site restaurant, was delightful and served with a touch of class. I couldn't have asked for a better stay. Rydges Auckland truly deserves a five-star rating!

The room had a comfy bed, but this hotel lacks finesse and most of the staff are awkward and unhelpful. There was no where to hang towels, no bath gel, no information in rooms. Couldn't get staff over phone, no housekeeping between nights, cold water and difficulty raising reception or maintenance. I had to make my way to gym for shower. I also had lost and found which took a phone call and then a long visit to get back. Whilst there I heard complaints by others. My recommendation, I stayed elsewhere for my third night, I recommend you do the same.

👍 Great to be back. Things have changed but the staff, service and food is still excellent. Since the pandemic they have painted the place inside. My room this trip had a new bathroom. I guess the only area for improvement might be the water pressure. It used to be much better or perhaps it is still a work in progress because painter's are still here doing work. Perhaps some plumbing issues can be resolved as well? Hope so. Still recommend it 👌.

I went to Auckland for the first time and just checked into Rydges hotel and my experience was giving it a 5 stars. The breakfast was full of variety and was very delicious. Rooms were very spacious and so was the bathroom. Best part is that the hotel is very close to the sky tower and other interesting parts of the city, so if you are new to the city and want to explore new things this might be a good option.

For the price I really expected more. It was comfortable and such, but way over priced. The room was spartan with a TV blocking the view and a rock hard, uncomfortable single seater couch. Attention to detail was limited - it was tidy-ish, but little things were unattended. Service and location was great. You really need different coffee with your breakfast.... for a hotel advertising itself as 4 star plus Douw Egberts from a manky looking machine does not cut it. Is it that difficult to get some good beans in Auckland? Comom, make a bit of an effort. Next time I will stay in a B&B at a third of the price.

Arrived here after a 24 hour flight so pleased it was a good and easy hotel to use with a good breakfast buffet while we found our feet. Bathroom very compact but cleverly organised so we forgave the trim dimensions. Bright and airy room with bags of space - and space for bags.

Location is fine but the rooms are strange. Lighting for all room is one switch. This is over the desk and entrance. So if one person wishes to sleep it is in full lighting or the partner sits in the dark. Why no lights for reading above the bed? There is a ceiling led above each bed but the switch is only in the centre between the beds. The sink in the bathroom is very shallow with only 6/7cm gap between bottom of sink and tap ... So the kettle does not fit under the tap. Air con works well, beds are comfortable but on rollers so they move away from the wall very easily. The standard rooms feature 2 double beds with a table between them. So one bed has a wall on the left and table on the right. The other has a table on the left ( shared with the other bed) and nothing on the right. Would not stay here again because of this strange and inconvenient arrangement.

Comfortable beds and pillows. Centralised air conditioning so it can get too cold or too warm (depending on the time of day). Not-so-fantastic service. Due to severe food allergies, I asked what type of "cheesecake flavour of the day" the hotel had that night. I was promptly advised by a male hotel representative with a strong foreign accent saying, they do not know because the food was not labelled! The staff did not have adequate information over their products. By the way, don't order the curry chicken with rice. It was rice and curry poured all over in a small container. Felt like covid hotel quarantine.

We stayed for 3 nights. This is not a 4 star hotel, it is 3 stars at best. Buffet breakfast was 5/10. Staff were very slow and one quite unfriendly. Would not stay here again. Spend abit more and stay at Sky City. Rooms are nicer and buffet breakfast much better

  • 2/5 kay l. 5 months ago on Google
The location is central, but not much going on. When you enter the lobby you can't really think it is a 4 star hotel. The staff was not 4 star hotel quality either, they are more like cashier than anything. The room is old, you can clearly see the rust in the bathroom and the old style. It claim has a harbour view, but you only about 10% of your view is water. And it's fill with boats. They claim to have mini bar, but the fridge is empty, not even water was offered. And they didn't even refill the milk. I have to come down to the lobby and get ice from restaurant next door. The air-conditioning is not functioning well, on the first night I almost though it was broken. Because the temperature rise to 25 degree during the night. But then I realize it's just really slow, because when I return that afternoon the temperature did drop. Additional to all these, my reservation states that my checkout time is 12:00 , but the reception insisted it is 10:00. Overall, I definitely do not recommend, you can easily find better quality hotels in the same price range.

Is this a terrible hotel? I hated it but I could see others might find value. I arrived at 11pm and the lobby doors were locked. The doorbell didn't work and I had to bang on the door to get in. The elevators were filthy. The lobby snelled of day old cooking. When I got to my room the light switch activates a single light and the black painted accent wall makes it seem darker. The furniture is dated and doesnt fit the room. The locks on the door were missing entirely with holes where they used to be. However - the room and bathroom were very clean. The bathroom tile looked brand new. The website lists valet parking at $55 NZD per day but this doesn't exist. The hotel has parking an adjacent lot fpr $26 NZD per day with no in and out privileges. The carpark is filthy, smells of urine and is tiny. I hated this hotel and left a day early. However, the rate was one of the lowest in the area and if you don't need parking, don't mind what common areas look like, and are happy in an outdated but clean room you might experience it differently.

COVID has obviously impacted the service offered as the room service was either incomplete or needed a reminder. The staff are still lovely and imagine they’re run off their feet.

Server Cree was definitely committed to service excellence. She took pride in her job as she was very accommodating on my food requests. Her warm (always with a smile),approachable and positive attitude was very welcoming. Cree is definitely an asset to the Rydges Auckland hotel and please kindly convey my compliments for an outstanding staff.

Certainly, here's a review you can consider posting: "Extremely disappointed with the service at rydges hotel My check-in experience has been a series of delays and misinformation. I was originally told in email check-in would be at 3 PM, but when I arrived at 4:30 pm, I was informed it would take 20 more minutes. I checked again after 20 minutes only to be told it would be an additional 30 minutes. This level of inconsistency and waiting is unacceptable.

The bed was HUGE and amazing, so comfy and gorgeous. Shower was pretty amazing! Room was great. View was pretty average but overall enjoyed my stay. A shame about the construction works starting up at 6.30 in the morning on a Saturday morning but can't be helped.

We were a family of 6 travelling together and were given 3 rooms on different floors Inspite of letting staff know that we have two senior citizens travelling with us. I was informed by the hotel manager Claudio that they were completely booked and unable to accommodate 3 rooms on the same floor !! When I checked availability of 3 rooms for 6 people on the website, I could see that there was availability and rooms could be booked. I am not convinced the staff did anything to accommodate our request and simply dismissed us. When I said I wasn’t happy about the service and that I would be making a complaint, the manager infact provided his name and said go ahead and complain! This attitude should not be allowed in a hospitality sector. Appauling behaviour.

Terrible! Worst experience I have had staying in a hotel. Was here for 3 days for a work conference and couldn’t even watch tv. Services are old fashioned and outdated with an option to watch a movie via chrome cast only. Terrible wifi and chrome cast connection. Staff were very rude when asked for help and I was hung up on by the receptionist. Rooms are small and dingey and no hair dryer as is stated on their website. Would definitely not recommend. Have had better experiences in smaller hotels in smaller towns who make less money and still are better equipped.

Spent three nights on business before setting off to see relatives up north and south on the North Island. Rooms were excellent and well-appointed. Close to eateries and the sights of Auckland. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly and accommodating. In-house restaurant served an excellent buffet breakfast and dinner.

From my window, I could see the Auckland sky tower! I could not ask for a hotel that is more centrally located. The room is beautiful, spacious, and with every convenience needed. Most comfortable and enjoyable stay!

Fantastic location for visiting the city. A little overpriced for what it is but I guess that’s the cost of things these days. Very central to dining, shopping, tourist sites, bus to the airport, the pier, Queen street and the list goes on. Highly recommend staying there but my rating is based on overall value for money.

Beware when using the carpark, passed out people in the stair well and seemngly homeless people drinking there as well when you access your vehical. Otherwise nice rooms and quiet with a great buffet breakfast! Will use this if I fly up next time.

I have never felt more ripped off staying anywhere in my life... Over $400 for one night, couldn't check in until almost 2 hours after check in, our booking request was fully ignored, the room has instant tea and coffee facilities but no mugs or spoons... Absolute zero frills rooms. I have had more enjoyable stays at budget hotels. 1 star for location because inner city parking costs are not included and we were poorly informed of this, over $50 for our stay.

Our week of MIQ was made so much more bearable than we anticipated thanks to the wonderful staff here, so grateful for everything they did for us. Food was wonderful, catering to dietary requirements and a wee baby so well. Staff are super friendly and helpful, can’t thank you guys enough 😊

I stayed there during my MIQ. This was my first time ever in New Zealand and the staff at the Rydges made my introduction to the country a pleasant one. The food is amazing and I had a magnificent view of the harbor. I was able to watch the sail boats from the comfort of my room. Hopefully I can stay there again under better circumstances.

Fantastic. Great clean rooms. Nice and central, close to the Sky tower, Countdown and lots of eateries. Buffet breakfast is basic but delicious. Room service was quick and yummy. Will definitely recommend staying here and will be back again

Excellent accommodation. Great views of Auckland and comes with an excellent view of Auckland city. A fantastic restaurant and nice staff. Rooms are slightly small but overall fantastic accommodation. Gym is basic but on a holiday very satisfactory.

Good. Staff members in the bar and reception are very professional, helpful and polite. All you would need: toiletries, hairdryer, ironing board. The temperature and water pressure in the shower was ok. The pillows are very uncomfortable. Too thick. I ask for a spare comb one morning as I couldn’t find mine, but they didn’t have one to offer. That’s non acceptable for a hoy meto rated 4 stars and charging these prices.

Appalling service. We informed hotel of later check in as on business trip. Arrived at 6.45pm to be told our rooms would not be ready for another 1.5 hours. 1 hour later, told another 1.5 hours. We went elsewhere. I don't believe the rooms weren't ready, I think they overbooked and they weren't available at all. Blacklisted for future visits. Disappointing for such a renowned hotel chain. Need to do better Rydges.

staff were horrible at communicating, we were charged an extra $105 for food we didn’t eat. the carpark was extremely unsafe and not secure. room was not clean and there was old dishes left in the hallway for our whole stay (4 days) overall extremely displeased and disappointed with our stay, will not be staying there again. do not recommend

  • 1/5 Linnea H. 1 year ago on Google
Awful experience. When we arrived at 3:30pm, we were told our room wasn’t ready and we would need to wait to check in (even though check-in is at 3pm). The woman at the front desk was apologetic, and said they are very understaffed, with only a few housekeepers. A bit annoying, but understandable. After arriving at our room, we immediately noticed that the bathroom had not been cleaned sufficiently. There were curly black hairs all over the shower and bathroom floor. One of the housekeepers had to come in and clean while we were in the room. The other main issue was the noise. Our room was on floor 11 overlooking the roof, where a wedding was being held. Loud party music was played on the roof for several hours, not shutting off until after midnight. Customer service was unhelpful and rude to us, not offering a room switch until my friend cried. The new room was just as loud as the previous, so we opted not to switch. We will be pursuing a full refund for this stay, as we paid for a nice hotel yet got none of the basic amenities that even basic hotels promise to provide- Rydges Auckland had poor customer service, forced late check-in, loud music in the hotel that was impossible to sleep through, and dirty bathrooms. Definitely would not stay here again.

  • 4/5 L M. 1 year ago on Google
Rydges was a great choice for a ten day stay. We had a lovely corner room with two long views of the sky tower and towards Albert Park. Very close to everything if you want to walk or catch a bus to tourist attractions. Staff were all very responsive and helpful.

  • 1/5 Janine D. 1 year ago on Google
This is quite possibly, the noisiest and dirtiest high-end hotel I’ve ever experienced. First, our check-in time was 3pm. We weren’t able to check in until 4:11 because they refuse to hire more staff (a front desk agent told me this themselves). 2) our room had PUBIC HAIR in the shower and on the floor. Grease stains were on the headboard. 3) They hosted a night club wedding until midnight. We paid a lot of money for a high-end hotel to end our trip in New Zealand so we could have a good night’s rest. The entire room was VIBRATING. After recording the noise and CRYING, they was offered a room on the 13th floor and it was just as noisy so we did not change rooms. During the 20 minutes I spent in the lobby, another guest called to complain and the man was so disrespectful. I do not recommend this hotel. They refused a refund and were extremely disrespectful to me. I’ll be reaching out to the front desk manager and corporate for a refund. I shouldn’t have to pay for a room that I couldn’t sleep in until past midnight because the entire room was shaking from the noise. A recording of the noise is attached. As a totally separate note, 3 housekeepers for 238 rooms is embarrassing. No wonder the rooms were dirty.

Pretty dissapointed to be honest. Lovely staff but the food was so dissapointing especially the dinner buffet the food looked like it had sat there all day and was dry, the bread was rock hard. There was also people next to us partying with loud music and yelling. Our room wasn’t cleaned or serviced the whole day we were out and the hotel feels outdated and in need of a face lift considering the cost. Also parking is expensive and you can only leave the car park once otherwise you pay more. Not exactly family friendly and won’t be staying here again

  • 3/5 Helen T. 1 year ago on Google
Would not stay here again. We had 2 rooms booked and had requested them being side by side. We were told this should be possible but not guaranteed. Despite the hotel not having many guests they were not able to offer us side by side rooms. When questioned about it upon check in staff weren't interested in checking to see if they could make this happen for us. Housekeeping was by request, yet the day we requested it they didn't even bother to wash the glasses in the room. A 21st at the hotel in the floor below us was loud and disrupted our sleep. The fridge in the room had no shelf so we were unable to store drinks and snacks. Discussed with reception upon check out and although given a small discount we were not offered an apology. It seemed like staff did not care. Despite the great location, the staff at Rydges really let the hotel down.

  • 4/5 Ian M. 1 year ago on Google
Clean, comfortable, convenient. Reception staff were good. View very ordinary from our room (across a laneways, looking into another building), not a lot of natural light. And parking is expensive. Current rate (Rydges’ deal) is still $26 per 24 hours or each exit/entry, so that adds to the price in quite a hefty way. When returning to Auckland, we will probably not choose Rydges because of the parking as we will still have a car.

Purchased a grabone voucher, went to book and was told i could not have this date as it was a blackout date, asked for the weekend after and was told yes. Went to check in and was told my booking was actually two nights prior, there is no way i would have booked for mid week. Took no responsibility in booking the wrong date for my stay and was told I would not get my money back as i was a no show. No apology, no comp, no nothing. Absolutely disgusted in the way my situation was dealt with. Repeatedly told I was in the wrong when clearly it was their mistake. I'd give 0 stars but that's not an option

  • 5/5 Dats T. 1 year ago on Google
Great location with parking across the street (remember to take parking ticket to hotel service desk instead of pay machine so it's cheaper), staff were friendly, rooms were good enough but some small wear and tear, surprisingly no toilet brushes, small grout damage etc but all good.. keep up the good work

  • 5/5 Joseph G. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms, the staff and the location were all very good. And the hotel’s food really must try. Especially the salmon dish. Will definitely stay again. So near to many amenities aground the hotel and all within walking distance.

  • 4/5 Trevor S. 10 months ago on Google
Really comfortable and well located. The restaurant is the only reason I don't give this hotel a 5 star rating. Better and friendlier service at the Pizza Hut around the corner.

Only stayed two nights. Our safe was not working, when asked to have it fixed, they gave us the date we were checking out! Breakfast was fair, so was dinner at their restruant. Don't order the fish! Undercooked, fishy smell. Did not get chips or fries but rather quartered potatoes.

Excellent hotel, beautiful clean room. Fabulous choice of foods for breakfast. Good location near sky tower and harbour. Only negative was we didn’t realise we had to pay for parking. 26 NZ Dollars per 24 hours

  • 5/5 Ais A. 1 year ago on Google
We stayed here last month. The staff are nice and very helpful. The place was not so busy at that time maybe because it's off-peak season. The hotel was just few steps away from the Sky Tower so it's cool. The room was clean but it was opposite an apartment building so can't really open the curtains fully. Breakfast buffet was fine, not many choices same stuffs everyday. But we enjoyed the coffee from their coffee machine.

Central location. Comfy bed, spacious room, clean, housekeeping did a great service, came back in clean, organised and restocked room! Five stars for the housekeeping team! Front desk is welcoming, helpful and fast. My room AC wasn't working properly, not heating up, it was stuck in 19 reception offered a room move or portable heater, but didn’t want to move. Could have been a 5 star rating but room AC didn’t work to heat up the room in a cold night. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.
