Room cleanliness was not up to standard for a hotel, there were hairs on the sheets and in the bathroom on the tiles in the shower. The wall above the bed, had fingerprint marks and needs to be wiped. The bed was advertised as a king but was two singles pushed together. The location was excellent and the room size was great, this hotel could definitely be a great one if they improved a little.

The staff are very friendly and customer focused. The price for our stay was very good The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The included breakfast was satisfying, im a vegetarian and certainly didn't have any dramas finding something to eat each day. The hotel is in a good location, close to eateries, a supermarket, Sky tower, airport bus pick up/ drop off point. We will definitely stay at the President hotel again

Making my way around all the hotels in Auckland, and this has, unfortunately, been the worst so far. The woman at the front desk last night was lovely and is probably the only reason this isn't a one-star review. The bed is really uncomfortable to the point where you can feel the springs as soon as you lie down. The TV also weirdly doesn't get some channels unless you unplug the antenna, and even then, some channels get no signal whether it’s plugged in or not. Breakfast is seemingly included, as I don't remember explicitly paying for it, which is satisfactory but extremely limited, (i.e. baked beans, hash browns, what I think was mushrooms, and sausages. There is also toast from a standard retail toaster, and your choice of Apple or Orange juice.) The photos make the hotel look lovely, but disappointingly unlikely to visit again.

Great location but this doesn’t make up for the worst overnight accomodation imaginable. Severely outdated room, furniture, bedding, bathroom facilities and the worst air conditioning units, we actually had to swap rooms because the unit in our first room was so loud we had to shout at each other to talk. The second room was slightly better but didn’t cool the room. We lasted the night and looked forward to the breakfast which was a big disappointment. So much plastic packets and they had run out of pancakes and fruit by 7.30am because yesterday was busy for them. The reception was poor, didn’t even ask how the stay was, no conversation, very inhospitable. So many poor excuses that just added to a terrible experience. Would not recommend at all!!

I and my friend chose this hotel and booked online. We had a very late check-in as our flight got delayed. The receptionist gave us a quick check-in and gave us the key. The stay was good and the room was clean. We had complimentary breakfast options throughout the stay but due to our early start tours, we were not able to try that. But heard it was good from other guests.

It’s in a good central location, and the reception staff were nice, however this hotel is very tired and in need of a refurbishment. The lobby and corridors smelt musty and stagnant, and the overall stay was subpar. We stayed 3 nights and our room wasn’t serviced once, the toilet had a foul lingering smell of urine, and the room had unusual pull up blinds that had black stains on them and didn’t close all the way. Also a big patch of black mould above the shower. It’s a shame for a central location and a good sounding name like “President Hotel”. Unfortunately, would not stay here again.

The hotel is dated and the bed was the worst yet. The mattress was 2 single mattresses pushed together that were super soft and bend your body in all the wrong places. Had a terrible sleep. Would never stay here again or recommend it. It would be great if a window could be opened for fresh air too

My wife made a booking and slip of the finger made it 2023. We have twin girls and she's tired from parenting and work so it's an easy error. We wanted the date this year for our anniversary. We were told no to correcting the date. You'd think they'd be accommodating and change to a sooner date to get paid sooner. Disgusting attitude in the reply from them. After also now reading the reviews regarding the rooms I don't think we will be staying at all. If you're reading this... don't come here. You deserve better.

😡Very poor quality & service. Be aware not to expect the service & hospitality of a HOTEL. Room cleaning will not be provided unless stay over 3 nights. Other additional problems we faced were as below: - Towels r smelly - Were not able to check in at 2pm, which is an officially stated checkin time. Were told that rooms are all not cleaned up yet so advised to come back after 2.30 - Ants n bugs found in the room & bedroom linen - Rooms would not be cleaned even upon request. Will only be done every 3days? lol. Towels were provided but wont be replaced.... Used towels were still in the room Think just an one night stay can be ok...but not more than that

Absolutely love it. The room was really nice, clean and tidy with an amazing view. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back again. But it was a bit difficult to go there because of the construction happening around and few roads closed.

I had a really good stay at President hotel. Location is situated not too far from the Sky Tower. Plenty of parking as it's next to a Wilson carpark. Beds are super comfy and rooms are cosy. Yummy continental breakfast. Scrambled eggs were so delicious.

A good hotel in the center of town. It has a post-modern appearance and has all amenities for a short stay. We've stayed here a night of two and it had enough for us to offer. Staff is friendly and the breakfast is great. I haven't come across things I didn't like.

The online pictures are definitely deceitful. The beds are not comfortable and are very old. Our mattress definitively needed a change. There were constructions at the entrance of the hotel and it was really hard to park our car and find it... when we asked if we could get a discount on the parking lot due to the heavy construction, the noise and all the trouble we went through, they said that it wasn't possible... this wouldn't happen in a good hotel (I've already been there). The breakfast venue lacks ventilation, as we left it smelling of bacon and eggs, and the personnel wasn't that nice. Overall, we are glad we only spent one night there. Wouldn't recommend it at all

A great location and good prices, but this property is definitely run down. My first room didn't have working aircon (no plug on cord) so was given a different. All was well untill someone took a shower and my bathroom flooded through the floor drain.

We arrived sometime after 1am and the person at reception was really friendly, accommodating and patient with us. The hotel and the rooms are all quite dated, although perfectly functional. Having a small kitchenette was great. The fire alarm was being tested during one of the days of our stay, an important safety check - obviously, but exhausting and irritating for jet-lagged guests. Our key stopped working one day, which being on the 13th (or 14th) floor was just a pain. The reception staff were all very friendly. It was the only hotel on our two week trip (6 hotels) that went up and checked our room before we could complete check out... Which was a strange feeling.

Good location for food and shopping. No loading bay for luggage or taxi's. Zero assistance from staff if you have children, bags or a pregnant. Room was clean but loud from the halls, blocked sink in the bathroom, weird poop smell from the toilet. Shower was average pressure but hot. Breakfast was good and convenient. For a $200 per night hotel expected some assistance with luggage and room check in. Response to reply: I did not chose to lug my bags up the stairs I wasn't allowed to use the luggage trolley down to the car park, I wasn't allowed to use the loading bay in the car park. I was clearly heavily pregnant and couldn't drag the bag from the loading bay near the bins through the car park to the elevators to with a child safely.... Zero assistance from staff to actually open the carpark doors...

Although a bit dated a good experience overall, our accommodation had clean comfortable bedding and tidy rooms and location perfect for inner city visits. We went to a concert at Spark arena within walking distance. We had a lovely breakfast and Parmila the chef made the most delicious mushrooms in sauce and she was very friendly and helpful.

It's fine. Stayed here for a conference in Auckland from Christchurch. Was adequate. Older hotel and not as new facilities. When we got into the room, my friend I was travelling with went to the toilet which had a paper seal on the seat saying it had been cleaned. When she lifted the lid there was a poop still in the toilet. Looks ok cleanliness wise but when look closer could've done with more. Linescale on the showerhead made me feel not so clean after a shower. Can be loud at night as you can hear people in the hallway. Not very sound proof. Location is good. Pretty central. Right next to countdown. The breakfast in the morning was a cooked breakfast which we were both pretty impressed by as we just expect cereal when they said breakfast included.

Have stayed here before, friendly staff, clean rooms. A bit dated, but services and facilities are comfortable. More recently I needed to cancel a booking at short notice and the team arranged this & ensured I was not charged a penalty. Greatly appreciated and will rebook in April when I am well again.

Booked to stay here with a group of friends for two nights. Great location but disappointed with the cleanliness of the rooms. Finger marks on mirrors, and dirty marks and stains on the cupboards and kitchen appliances such as microwave and dishwasher, mould in the bathrooms. Be warned only serviced every 3 days so any towel changes you need to ask reception which was fine. One night we asked for the special they had for Corona from their advertised room service menu to be told they don't have a licence to sell alcohol! Very strange as they have a menu with price list in the rooms. The breakfast was an added bonus and was good but the scrambled eggs could have been warmer needs to be served in a hot plate not a glass bowl. Also don't expect a peaceful night's sleep if you stay over a weekend as the hotel is opposite a night club which goes on until 4am !! So recommend ear plugs for those light sleepers.

Best value we've come across. Our room was spacious & clean; the staff and service provided was excellent; carparking in the middle of central city roadworks, a bonus. And a full tasty breakfast. A special thank you for the Friday hug from Parmila the chef who was also the concierge at the restaurant.

Room Was far to small Especially with kitchen, iving room stains on carpet smells like dust, bathroom with no air vent cold was lucky we had a dryer to dry towels for the next day, double bed was 2 singles push together very noisy as we could hear everythink from the streets Restaurant windows really needed a good clean, workers looking over us while eating breakfast. The place NEEDS a good CLEAN dusty smell not just in the rooms it's everywhere. Service was.great from front desk 👍 BUT Tony's steak house next door. Done it for me Absolutely delicious 💯

Nice rooms for a cbd stay. Breakfast is decent. Elevators are very slow/streets surrounding are under perpetual construction. Many beggars and drug users around after dark, be careful

Great location in the center of everything! Staff is super friendly and helpful if you need anything at all. Rooms provide anything you really need, and there is laundry on site. Grocery store right next door and a wide variety in breakfast items provided. I’ve enjoyed my stay here. Thank you all so much.

Great location and lovely breakfast. Didn't appreciate to fire evacuation caused by electrical work being done on the 12th floor. No fire, no explanation and no appology. 12 floors for people who have limited mobility was a huge challenge. A nightmare if it had been an actual fire.

When we arrived we learned about the road works situation, then found the 2 bedroom suite I booked was actually a studio with 1 bedroom (they insisted this is what a 2bdrm unit is, but the other places I booked actually had 2 bedrooms so the President Hotel are wrong). There is a bond that they expect (apparently this is normal for all hotels but not something I had come across before, point is - they should have told us in advance, not at check-in). The next issue was the glass on the floor of our room, we told reception and they said they would send someone to check. I don't believe they did because we found more glass on the floor later. The room was also dusty and some of the bedding appeared unclean. The breakfast that was included in the price was average at best, and when we asked, they said we couldn't take food to the room despite them having room service, which I thought was weird and unreasonable. When we approached staff about these issues, they just tried to "pass the buck" rather than trying to remedy anything. We had 2 nights booked at this place, but cancelled our 2nd night due to our terrible experience. Edit: the Hotel has since responded to my review, proving my point that they just want to lie and "pass the buck" rather than take any responsibility or try to remedy the situation.

Great location, tall building. Lots of food nearby, close to shopping, cinemas, Britomart train station about 10 minute walk. Clean rooms, fridge, microwave, dishes and silverware. Hair dryer in bathroom. Assorted teas, coffee, cocoa and tea kettle. Breakfast was good with a good variety for adults and kids. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful.

Location is good, just 1min walk to Queen St or Skytower. However the sound proof of the room is horrible, you could hear people yelling on the street on Friday night. The construction downstairs doesn't help, the workers start at 8am everyday, finished at 10pm. The hair dryer in the bathroom doesn't work. Some signage in the room are obviously outdated , e.g. there is a notice in the bathroom that said for the environment they only provide wall hung washers, but there is no wall hung washers found and they are still supplying plastic tubes. Also there is a sign that says they only provide room cleaning service if we are staying three nights and above. However I'm pretty sure someone came into the room and tidied my bed and took out the trash when I was gone for the day. Also there is no "do not disturb" or "please clean the room" sign that you could put on the door. Our packages came with free parking and free breakfast, however I didn't use any of this.

  • 3/5 Amanda N. 6 months ago on Google
Location could have been good, but the metro construction made it really hard to get around. It's hard to push your luggage uphill and through all the mess. The room was small but clean. Breakfast was included, but as we had tours lined up from 5.45am, we were not able to have breakfast, and they kept saying it was not possible to help us pack a little something to go (which the other hotels I'd stayed in were always ready to help. They were really not flexible at all.

  • 1/5 Guinevere K. 8 months ago on Google
Everywhere looked a bit sad and worn, the room was average, and the bathroom poor condition with a really sad shower, not very clean, the fridge was hardly working and no air conditioning, just a really sad and very old heater that had dirty filters and blew out no cold nor hot air. The breakfast was awful, everything was cold, little options and it seems they cook all the food first thing in the morning and leave it there for a few hours at the luke warm temp. The view out of the window is a car parking building and the sound of the rubbish being collected every morning at around 6am. The only good things was it is close to Queen street and close to the skycity. Wouldn't recommend.

Good convenient hotel. Friendly staff. Unfortunately situated currently in middle of all road works for new subway. Good breakfast.

  • 1/5 Martine Q. 2 years ago on Google
Room was out dated, our beds were rock hard (have now got a sore back) and my kids beds were overly soft, there was a note in the bathroom saying 15 min MAX hot water with a 45min wait to reheat, parking was so tight I could barely fit my suv in and for $35 a night what a joke. Major road works out both sides with no notice from the property at all, and only 1 room had a very old aircon machine that was so rattly and loud we couldnt sleep. Safe to say I won't be staying here again.

  • 3/5 Rozzy G. 2 years ago on Google
Room was very basic, bed was comfy but unfortunately the building needs to be redecorated it feels very dated and doesn’t give you the feeling of being in the CBD. Currently roadworks is right outside the hotel door, we were on level 1 and the noise wasn’t too bad but possibly had it on a good day. The car park below is way too expensive for the trouble of trying to even fit your car in a space, there is a Wilson car park across the road so would probably recommend using that car park. We were served at the front desk by a lovely gentlemen who was super helpful and we’re always greeted with a smile.

Great experience. Supper friendly staff and the rooms were great. Family, business or casual this is the hotel for you. And you can't get any central with close shops. Edit: added pictures of a very awesome room i had. Very comfprtable ans very minamalistic feeling to the rooms vibes

I had my doubts after reading the reviews but it was fine the road works outside block the street but really easy walking to queen st and up to sky city busses at both ends...room was big and basic and clean all you need...heating was good we had a city view... breakfast was good .

  • 1/5 Lauren A. 2 years ago on Google
Worst service, no one at the desk seemed to know what they were doing. Manager was rude and unhelpful. Stained carpet in the rooms, poor ventilation in the rooms and in the restaurant, walk out smelling like bacon. Fridge smelt like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. Definitely not worth the price. Would not recommend!

  • 5/5 Francisca R. 2 years ago on Google
We had a really bad experience the night before in an arbnb in Auckland so we booked this place with a bit of concerns because of the reviews but for us was a super good experience. The location is perfect, near to everything, we had breakfast included for the price so that’s really good as well. It was clean and tidy and with a microwave inside the room and some kitchen staff. Of course because of the location it will be noisy as any big city but we couldn’t be bothered, we enjoyed our stay and slept really good.

  • 4/5 Martin D. 2 years ago on Google
From the reception to the in house cleaning crew to the dining staff--everyone was remarkable--friendly and helpful taking the extra step. The beds were a bit hard for us and aircon somewhat noisy but the price actaully took care of that as it was perfect not being expensive. Also close and easy to everything including Countdown 2 doors down. Thanks to all your services which were very much appreciated!

Checked in to the president late on a Friday night, thankfully it was a breeze. We paid extra for parking which seemed worth it. The rooms were clean a little bit out dated but for the price can't really complain. We had the breakfast in the morning which came with the room and due to covid the buffet was down but regardless the cooked breakfast was really good! Fair price, good spot in the middle of the CBD would recommend to anyone wanting to stay.

I booked a room for my partner. His flight was cancelled and he arrived Auckland the next day, so he couldn’t stay at the hotel. They discounted the full price even when we called hours earlier to let them know. I understand their cancellation policy but they should consider when the situation is out of the customer’s hand.

The President Hotel is a great place to stay... especially if you have a family. Chef Parmila and her kitchen staff provide the best breakfast in town. Location is perfect for walking around the city. Will definitely stay here again. Thanks

Paid what I think is good money to stay 1x night.Location is perfect,in walking distance of CBD.Room was clean. But I have something to say about the out dated bed in room 505 on the evening of 25.3.2022 The mattress was not fit for purpose, wire was poking through the very old bed cover. I am a tiny woman who had to constantly move all over the uncomfortable bed to try and get some sleep. Honestly I'm so disgusted I'm emailing management to ask for a refund and then contact Fair Go to discuss consumer rights. For future reference when making enquiries for bookings it may pay to ask the age of the mattress or definately read the reviews first.

City hotel very close to everything. Rooms were clean and tidy. Service was good, just watch when the barista at the restaurant in the morning asks for cash for the coffee then charges your room anyway. (Refund was eventually given)

  • 2/5 Lolini 1 year ago on Google
On entering the hotel it was very outdated. I must say though the English speaking gentleman at reception was very polite and helpful. Though the Indian man on reception was rude and not helpful. The rooms were of average condition and the beds were tidy and comfort level was okay. The rooms service ladies were quite friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and staff also friendly. Other than that it would be a hotel that definately fits a 3 star rating.

  • 2/5 Andy D. 1 year ago on Google
My stay was really just OK. It is a 3 star hotel and it really shows. The customer service was average, some of the staff were not friendly and quite cold. I asked for a wake up call and did not get it. Breakfast can be offered but you are crammed in a small room with an army of people. Not great facilities, unattractive premises and very dull. If you just want a place to sleep for an Auckland visit and all the decent hotels are crazy expensive, then this place could work. But don't expect all the bells and whistles. I was happy to quickly leave and check out.

Great central place to stay, not a new hotel but worth staying at. Clean rooms and comfy beds. Good heater in room. Coffee and tea in small kitchen with kettle and microwave. NZ toiletries. Clean bathroom. Breakfast buffet good selection but hot food could have been warmer. Staff very accommodating and also they have a secure locked room for your luggage if you're early or have a late flight. Would definitely stay again

Got at discounted rate but was still left disappointed. The breakfast was poor but edible, so a point there I guess? Bed was uncomfortable, air conditioner was very noisy. Upon attempting to have a shower I had opened the door and could immediately smell mould and mildue. Not up to my standard of cleanliness.

This is a very central high rise hotel. My room in the 13 story was quiet and clean. Staff were great and sorted me with a phone charger for the night. Very close to the harbor so I was able to have a walk down the long line of eateries on the harbourfront. I'll stay here again.

The hotel is ok. Our bathroom was not clean. The staff in the reception was friendly, but the chef (in the breakfast area) and one of her helper in the kitchen was not good. They were grumpy and not very helpful or friendly. The guy with glasses that welcomed us, he did his best and was nice. Disappointed of the breakfast, no fruits or vegetable at all. I tried to ask the chef why they did not have it, and she got mad. I guess this is why the hotel did not cost so much. Good location.
