Stayed here two weeks ago , TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE . Booked for two people(two young females) well in advance , Upon arrival we were told we had been put in two seperate rooms, even after explaining as two young females we didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in seperate rooms both full of all male guests .When we asked if there was anything they could do , we were shrugged off and told to sort it out ourselves if we wanted to change it . The man behind the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional , even offering to give out other guests personal contact details so we could discuss swapping rooms with them instead of doing anything about it themselves . There is also a $70 deposit required for the room keys which was not disclosed when we agreed to pay it that it could take up to 30days to be refunded. Wouldn’t ever stay here again or recommend to anyone else . The accommodation itself isn’t bad but the customer service is just awful

Sorry I had a very bad experience. Staff Is unpleasant. Bedbugs were in the bed and I got pains for several says. On top they didn't give me back the 70 deposit back which is a shame... no words for this hostel. Please don't stay at this hostel

We got this hostel really cheap via Agodas limited price thing and both wanted to stay at one of the ‘nicer’ hostels on our backpacking trip. This hostel was great as our room only had 4 beds of which we were the only ones in the room anyway, and had several kitchens and toilets. Although there was only one eating area so we just ate in our room, the only thing I would improve is the fact that there are toilets on each floor but some are only male/female. Meaning if you want to go to the toilet late at night you might have to trek downstairs. Bit of an exaggeration but it’s not on the same floor which is annoying. But the rest of the hostel was amazing!

If you book a single room online it is around 63 per night. The room had a bit of a smell and it was basic. For the price you are paying, it is good value for a single room. There are much worse budget accommodation in this part of Auckland.

DO NOT USE YOUR CARD HERE!!! Made a booking on booking.com for ONE NIGHT on Tuesday. On the countless previous stays we have NEVER have had to pay a bond. Nor did anything on booking.com say anything about it either. The receptionist told us we had to pay a bond and if we didnt we would be refused and the nights stay cost would NOT be refunded. So ofcourse we paid from our debit card (so now they have the card details). We go to get into our room and its locked by the deadbolt!!! and the receptionist said we have to wait 20mins for the security guard who has the key to unlock the room. (SERIOUSLY?!!!!) Finally we get in the room and stay. Good firm mattress, not enough powerpoints, other people staying talking really loudly. But had a great sleep. The next day(Wednesday) we checkout, get bond refunded and are on our way back home when a notification pops up showing YMCA charged us again. We turned around & go back to YMCA, finally we spoke to the manager and it was refunded. The next day being today (Thursday) we get ANOTHER notification saying YMCA has charged us AGAIN!!! Now that we aren’t in Auckland we have to WAIT to get the refund while they figure out whats wrong but admitting that they can see we had been charged. So not happy. Up until this stay I had nothing but great things to say, now im just disappointed. DO NOT GIVE YOUR CARD DETAILS! Pay by cash. Shady as and not happy.

I have not checked out, yet. Hostel is very close to shopping Malls, supermarket ànd whatever one needs. Room is very clean and so is kitchen and dining room. Check in was pleasant. Jonathan, the desk clerk, answered all my questions and gave advise. Even Security guard, Foni, was a pleasure to speak to. He even gave me some pointers.

Very good value. Clean, friendly. No access to hot water for tea after 10 pm. Shower is slippery and no place to put your clothes in the stall. Everything gets wet. They need a safety bar and a few more hooks. Well maintained property.

Paper thin walls, $70 deposit for keys which they warn can take up to 30 days to be refunded unless paid with cash (there's no justification for this except inefficiency on their part as no bank takes that long to release funds), unfriendly staff and next to a busy road which has a fire station on it. Conclusion, don't stay here if you want to sleep.

If you are looking for cheap accommodation that isn't dirty, this is the place to go. Im a real princess when it comes to accommodation. Unfortunately with hardly any notice of the event we needed to attend and no spare cash laying around, we had to stay in a hostel. I have to say this was one of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed at. The location is great, everything you need is walking distance. Staff were all very friendly, including the housekeeping team. Toilets and showers are cleaned regularly. The only downfalls would be us having to go up 2 floors to use the bathroom and also the sound from the fire station (but we did expect noise as we are staying in central city). Would probably recommend hooks for towels are placed in rooms. Would stay again!

    - Cleaning team on top, especially when you learn they are understaffed - Solution driven - one thing not awesome: kitchen sucks a bit, I miss cooking with gas

I stayed here for 5 nights and would do so again. I was a day late to my hostel but they were very understanding. Check in was quite easy they do charge you 70 dollars for a key deposit. The rooms are what you expect you only get one pillow and a little stuffy but compared to other hostels it's very good. No problem with the shared bathrooms as they are cleaned regularly and never noticed them to get too dirty. Highly recommend for backpackers or city visits.

Lovely bright and clean bedrooms, kitchens and social spaces cleaned regularly. Only downside was lack of dining space for such a large number of guests

Great facilities. Except for the tiny kitchens but overall great hostel. 10 bucks gym if you stay with them.

The facilities here are a little basic but the hostel feels very spacious and clean. This was our first hostel since arriving in Auckland and everyone we've met here has been really nice to talk to. One of the receptionists is an absolute legend as he managed to break my lock with his bare hands after we stupidly locked the keys in our locker.

Not worth the price. Booked a single room - the bed is uncomfortable, microwave doesn’t work and they were unable to provide a second towel on request after 4 days. Wouldn’t recommend.

First things first: I stayed there for six months because of my studies in Auckland. It was just terrible I still have nightmares(4months later) almost every room got bedbugs and me too because they don’t want to call a professional ,it’s not really clean , it’s noisy and the staff is really bad. Please don’t stay there please it’s not worth it!!!!!

Worst hostel experience in my life! Never again. First is $70 for room key, supposedly refundable. Then there’s no plates or kitchen utensils at all supposedly another 10$ supposedly refundable. Then ugly dinning area. Which fits 6 people. Then 2 tiny kitchens which always overclouded. Wifi sucks can’t even watch YouTube. This trash is massively overrated and overpriced.

I booked a single room, and it smells bad when I arrived. The staff said they cannot do anything because they are fully booked. I opened the window and set the table fan to blow air out whole night to survive the smell. Then I was wake up at 4am by itchiness on my hand and saw some bites, not sure they are from mosquitoes from the open window or bed bugs

Too noisy, doors slamming all time so you cannot sleep. Beds are not comfortable, rooms are small, the advantage is that you will be close to Kroad.

No doubt this is a great place to stay, great atmosphere and excellent staff, when in Auckland I won't stay in any other place again, it feels like home. 10 out of 10. 💚

Pros - The staff was super friendly and the location is good. Cons - very small and basic dorm room, there weren't even hooks to hang your towel. The showers as well were quite dirty and uncomfortable

Pros: 1. quite affordable 2. In the CBD 3. Good for transit stay and youngsters 4. Toilets and showers are clean Cons: 1. Kitchen is NOT clean. 2. Kids residing with families cried overnight. 3. Can hear through walls. 4. traffic pollution of CBD. In general its plan old YMCA at its best, staff are kind and good 😊 👍

We stayed in a private twin room. The mattress was excellent, the room was clean and it has a lot of space for suitcases and clothes, also it is warm. They clean the common areas regularly. The staff at the reception was really lovely and they gave us a proof of address for free without problems. The thing that we didn't like was that the kitchen doesn't have all the utensils needed and it hasn't got salt, sugar or any other basic to cook. It's a small kitchen so only 2 people fit in

Situated further from bars and restaurants means nights are quieter. The ground floor has a spacious area for socializing. Internet is free for the time being. Only problem was the small kitchens (only fits 2 people per kitchen)

A hostel with a cheap hotel vibe. Long and sterile hallways. Kitchen small and poorly equipped (no big knives, no teaspoons, no basic spices, ..). Bedding is a duvet without a cover and literally just a couple of plain white sheets. Has everything one needs to survive and feel like a human being, but not much more than that. Bottom line - cheap in both good and bad sense of the word.

They were really welcoming and the bathrooms were decent quality. Continental breakfast was lackluster and didn't provide for my vegan friend. The location was great, right across the road from a liquor store. A creepy drugged up guy came in and was making inappropriate comments towards our girls and the staff gave him a talking to and asked him to stay away from us but didn't kick him out which was disappointing.

Great night for the kickboxing, my only concern is why there is no St John's/first aid /first response /ambulance on standby? I understand there is a doctor there but when the fighters are needing to go to hospital, why is it left to family, friends to run back to there cars to take them? I thought any sporting event would have them on stand-by.

Industrial ambience. Terrible ground floor lounge. With bean bags and stools. No couches or chairs, harsh overhead lighting Not a nice place loiter. Second tv come dining room on second floor. Rooms are basic but clean. Facilities are adequate and also clean. Location is good, just off K Rd. Security guard on site. If you require budget accommodation (and it is very cheap for Auckland) this is okay. Plus some interesting characters to chat to.

Cheap accommodation. Very Spartan. I was concerned I'd not sleep well but no worse than usual.
