Have visited the store today (2018 Boxing Day). Found the staff member pretty annoying by illustrating the fact that 70% off was applied to the second item but not the first one. She said "nice try" when I asked about the deal....

Used to love going here but lately the vibe of the store is completely different, new faces who don't recognise regulars and aren't as friendly as the older lady which used to work here. Music that's too loud and the release of new products has really slowed down. Such a shame since it used to be my favourite spot in the city.

I can't believe I haven't written a review prior. Staff are SO friendly, usually with stores I have my favourites but each and every single staff member is so likeable. My first few times entering I felt out of place as I have like, green hair and baggy black clothing, completely opposite to the cute vibe of the shop. Despite this the staff always talk with me in such a soothing tone. Especially this one staff member, i'm pretty sure she's the owner, seems about 30-50. She is SO sweet and adorable, she reminds me of my mother with the way she speaks and her manners. I always purchase Pompompurin merchandise and she takes note of it which I find sweet, it's such a small detail but I like how she remembers. Also on the store's instagram she posts images of products sometimes with odd but cute captions. The english is a bit off but I think it adds more charm, anytime I see the posts I smile. I come here almost anytime I visit the city and I totally recommend it. Sure it's a little pricey, but it's worth it for the experience.

Overall this place is really cute for all Sanrio lovers but the prices are way way way to overpriced like $10 for a glue stick and not to mention the staff, me and my friend were there and we wanted to open something to see what was inside it ( apparently thats not allowed ) as the staff came to us and said “oh no don’t touch that” and she would do that for anything we nudged with our shoulder or anything else we touched , yes I know they want there stuff to be kept nice neat and tidy but me touching it won’t do anything so quit being overprotective because I’m not going to steal anything either

Many people complain about the price but honestly it is the same price range as every other Sanrio store I have been to in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. Yes, it is expensive but it's officially licensed merchandise that is also imported so you can't expect huge affordability when going here. If you plan on purchasing a gift here then $50-$100 is probably the average budget you're looking at. I've used the website for purchasing quite a few times but this was my first time visiting the Queen street outlet. It's a nice sized shop with good selection. The lady working there was very friendly and made some nice small talk about some of the products we were getting. Considering this is NZ's one and only official Sanrio retailer I think it is a delightful little shop that is worth a visit.

SUPER OVER PRICED! all of the stuff was super cute but super over priced tho like a 2 cm plush for 50$ and it's always open 10 minutes after the opening time it shows on the door, I would not pay 10$ for a single pencil sorry.

The team here are so sweet & friendly! I have lots of friends who LOVE Sanrio so I came in here to buy some gifts. They have lots of stock available for all Sanrio characters. The team have a good amount of knowledge about product if you have any questions. They said ‘if you have a cute mind you will like it here’. Customer service is excellent. It is hidden away in the back of a small arcade/mall. But once you find it, it’s great!

was going to try on a hat but was immidetaly taken off my hands by the worker- saying that my make up will get on it? (i was wearing simple make up) and made us feel very unwelcome in the store whilst i saw other people try it on and they had no problem. over priced sanrio reseller, never went here again.

The cheapest way to get official Sanrio products, justified price ranges! Helpful and Supportive Staff. Being the only Sanrio Gift Gate in the Southern Hemisphere, and is located in Auckland makes it very convenient to visit and get a few knicks and knacks.

I love this store. I had been ordering items from the San Rio in US, but they always seem to be out of stock. It's been months and they still have not restocked most of items I had wanted. I turned to this store, as a result, and am very pleased with the items. I have not experienced anything being out of stock yet. If they are running low on items the online site gives you a warning. I just love the store!!

Went in today looking for gift ideas. The sales person seems aloof and not helpful at all. There’s a big sign at the door sayings up to 70% off. But when asked if there’s any sales the staff person said there’s no sales going on. Lost interesting in shopping there straight after.

always love to take a look at this shop whenever i’m in the city, have always been a big fan of sanrio! i absolutely love all the stuff there but feel as if it can be quite overpriced at times, $15 for a pen, $50 for a small pouch etc. i can’t ever justify buying anything for myself because of how expensive the prices can be unless it’s for a gift :( - honestly i am better off ordering directly from amazon japan

As reading other people’s reviews, I’ve found that everyone’s had a different experience in this shop than others. Some experienced rude staff and found that the products were overpriced. Although I do somewhat agree to an extent that the products are overpriced, all my encounters at this shop have been positive and wonderful☺️. The shop owner was always nice and helpful, It is really one of the only places in Auckland to purchase licensed Sanrio merch, so sometimes the high-price is worth it than rather buying it online from America. It’s a cute place to stop buy and I really have no complaints.

Scammers. Brought a pen case thing that said they were $5 turned out to be $31. I was wondering why my bill was so expensive. And with the buy x amount of things and recive the last one free they just charge you for that last one too

Google and door says it opens at 10am but it is closed still at 10:10am. How disappointing.

Went there earlier last month. All the items were very well-displayed. Scored some really cute stationery and gave them to a friend; she loved them. The staff was happy to tell me about the store discounts that were on at the time; my experience was very relaxing; the store had a very peaceful, pleasing atmosphere.

i visited sanrio gift gate not long ago to purchase a gift for my partner. while at the counter i asked a question about one of the mystery items that was displayed, curious about it i asked what it was and the worker responded ‘it’s a blind bag sort of thing’. i asked if we could see what characters we could possibly win (like a little sheet of what characters there were - as it was 13 dollars and i wanted to make sure i knew what i was paying for) and i was answered with a demeaning ‘it’s a blind bag..?’. sanrio is a nice warm line of cute characters and people come to sanrio gift gate in person because of the experience. we don’t have many (if any) licensed sanrio stores in the southern hemisphere so it’s an honour to have something so close. speaking to a customer like this doesn’t feel welcoming especially since you don’t know them or their experiences at all, i happen to be autistic and i used to visit sanrio gift gate in person as it felt like a safe quiet space for me, but this experience has shyed me away :-( i don’t expect the workers to change themselves to fit the core sanrio values but damn
