I didnt like the removal of christian signs from the old church and substitution with muslim ones. If they need a mosque they should demolish the church and build a mosque on its place.

Must see in Ayvalık. A fusion between an old church and new mosque. Very nicely decorated. Thanks to the one who left water bottles at the door.

Among the best example of a perfect conversion of an old building into a usable masjid, without sacrificing its original historic architecture. An interesting object to visit in Ayvalik, a unique masjid, with a little horizontal cross section of prayer lines or saf, according to the direction of the Qiblah/Kaabah. Congregation of prayers (jamaah) 5-time a day performed here with opportunity to mingle with the locals kariah.

Sorry guys. That's no place for religious stuff. All around is full of pubs. I just used it to reach to a holiday place in maps. But if you look for fun and local treats you can definitely choose it as a g maps destination 🤣

It is a historical place converted from a church (Old Ayos Ianni Church) to a mosque. It is the largest mosque of Ayvali.

Nice. But the reality they reconstructed catolic curch to mosque is little bit weird to me.

It's a mosque, not really a place of sightseeing. If you are a woman visitor, cover your head and enter. The prayers are recited out in Turkish. If you don't understand Turkish, you won't get much. Once you enter the church, there is a segregated place on the left where a man gestured me to go in. It was covered by a curtain. I guess it's for women to attend the prayer.

I was fortunate enough to stay very near this mosque. It was really interesting to see this Greek orthodox church converted to a mosque. The locals were friendly and I was comfortable visiting as a solo woman. I did cover my hair out of respet.

😠 It used to be such a nice beautiful beach ⛱️ Now there are now shower, no changing rooms, nothing. A lot of endemic flowers were ruined. I think it's going to be a huge parking lot and a narrow beach line where you would have to pay a lot of money!
