Lalbagh Fort, located right in the Old Town area of Dhaka. The fort comes with a combination of three buildings (the mosque, the tomb and the museum), with two gateways and a portion of the partly damaged fortification wall at the corner. Most of the space inside the fort is covered with garden of thousands of plants and flowers. There is also a big pond right in front of the museum. A mosque is also located inside the boundary of the fort, but now it is temporary separated with some fences. People can still do the prayer at the mosque using the other entrance.

The Khan Mohammad Mirza Mosque on Lalbagh road is situated less than half a kilometre west of the Lalbagh Fort. Two Persian inscriptions, one over the central archway and the other over the central Mihrab, speak of its construction during 1704–05 AD by one Khan Muhammad Mirza. The large platform is 38.10 m from north to south and 28.96 m from east to west. Its height is about 5.18 m from the ground level. Underneath the platform are vaulted rooms on all sides except the eastern side. In the eastern side, there is a stairway which ends with a gateway aligning the central doorway of the mosque proper. It is through this gateway that one can reach the top of the platform

A historical place and Muslim prayer mosque. The most amazing thing that I experience is the weather difference. Outside it was very hot but inside the mosque I wasn't even feeling hot at all. Maybe it happened because the mosque is built with clay like material. I enjoyed playing and staying their for an hour or so.

Lalbagh Fort is a popular and historical place. This fort is surrounded by many mysteries. The fort was never completed, and unoccupied for a long period of time. Much of the complex was built over and now sits across from modern buildings. Every year a huge number of domestic and foreign tourists come to see the beauty of the fort. It's a great place to hang out with family and friends.

If someone wants to know the history of ancient times, he/she must go to this amazing place. This place is full of ancient history & a great place to spend time. Anyone can feel the moment of ancient times when the people of that time used this fort to do business through Buriganga River & some other purposes. A great place for tourist

The aesthetic example of Mughal architecture is the 'Khan Mohammad Mridha Mosque' of Red Fort. This historical mosque, which is almost three hundred years old, is still bearing witness of the Mughal elegance.

The mosque was built in Atish Khan Mahalla by Khan Mohammad Mridha under the instruction of Qadi Ibadullah in 1706 CE. The mosque rises above its surroundings because the tahkhana or underground rooms of the mosque are above grade. The roof of the tahkhana forms the platform on which the mosque is situated. The spacious prayer place before the main mosque is open in all directions allowing air to flow and keep the Musullis cool. A madrasa was also built north-west of the mosque building. Its founding teacher, Mawlana Asadullah (d. 1709), taught fiqh, philosophy and logic in the Arabic and Persian languages to the pupils, and was funded by the Nawabs of Bengal. ,,,,,

Khan Mohammad Mridha Masjid, or Lalbagh Fort Mosque, is an old and pretty mosque in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was made in 1704 by Khan Mohammad Mridha, a rich man and a relative of a Persian settler in Dhaka. The mosque is near the Lalbagh Fort, which was made by the Mughal ruler of Bengal, Prince Muhammad Azam. The mosque is special for its design and its meaning. The mosque is on a high platform, which is 17 feet above the ground. The platform has rooms that were used for living. The mosque has three domes, the middle one being bigger than the others. The domes have blue stars on white marble. The mosque also has four small towers at the corners, which have round tops. The mosque has a big prayer hall, which is split into three parts by two arches. Each part has a mihrab, which is a hole that shows the way to Mecca. The mihrabs have many curves and rectangles. The mosque has beautiful mosaic work, which covers both the inside and outside walls. The mosaic is made of broken pieces of china clay tiles, which make star shapes and flower shapes. The mosque is an amazing example of Islamic art and culture in Dhaka. It shows the skill and creativity of its makers, as well as the Islamic culture and identity of the city. The mosque is still used for praying and attracts many people who like its beauty and spirit. It is a loved symbol of Dhaka's history and faith.

Numerous mosques have been built in Dhaka since ancient times. That is why Dhaka is known as the city of mosques. And every mosque has different history, different stories. Many stories have been lost again in the evolution of time. But the mosques are still standing in glory. Khan Mohammad Mridha Mosque is an ancient mosque in Dhaka. Old Dhaka has several historical buildings in Lalbagh. Khan Mohammad Mridha Mosque is one of them. But very few people know this name of the mosque. Not even many people in the area know. But the locals know it as a two-storied mosque. The mosque is located in the Atashkhana of Old Dhaka. From the main gate of Lalbagh Fort, the mosque can be seen after a five-minute walk through the lane. The aesthetic architecture of the mosque here is bound to catch one's eyes. A mixture of red brick and limestone, the color of the structure is similar to that of burnt earth. The structure is about 17 feet high from the ground and from a distance one would think that the structure is made of terracotta. As an antiquities under the control of the Department of Archeology, the immortal feat of Sanrati Khan Mohammad Mridha is still crowded with pilgrims. Although there are many mosques in Oligli in this area, worshipers from different places come to offer prayers in this mosque. There are many open spaces around the mosque. If there is pressure from the worshipers, there is a system of offering prayers by spreading mats there. But on the day of Friday, the main mosque and its surroundings are full, but there is not enough space for many worshippers. Therefore, many people pray standing on the road in front of the open space under the outer platform, filling up the space in front of the ablutions, said some of the worshipers who pray regularly here. According to the information provided on the website of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, Khan Mohammad Mridha built this mosque in 1704-1705 AD under the orders of the Chief Qazi Qazi Khan Mohammad Ebadullah. The mosque was built on a platform about 17 feet high. The structure of the main mosque has three domes and around it there are about twenty-five small minar-like structures. The lower floor of the mosque has been given accommodation to the employees of Lalbagh Fort. Prayers are offered upstairs.

One of the most unique mosques I have ever seen. Ground floor is shut down and people perform their prayer in 1st floor. In a congested area like old Dhaka this mosque is spacious and beautiful. But I think government and locals should be very aware to save the heritage and look over the place regularly.

Actually I was wishing to give a 3.5 star. Vehicle parking is a measure issue as it is adjacent to a busy road. Mostly crowded in weekend on Friday and Saturday. One should be careful with their child as there are many non barricaded locations. Elders also to be careful. No Guide were there to explain the history. Water fountains should be restored to add more beauty to the location.

Buildings of the Great Mughal Empire and their legacy lies here at Dhaka Lalbagh Fort. Muhammad Azam Shah started building Lalbagh fort the son Emperor Aurangozeb. But it remained unfinished as Azam Shah's Emperor father called him back. Later the in-charge Dhaka of Mughal Empire Nawab Shayesta Khan resumed work, but after his daughters death the fort building finally stopped. Its feels wow to look at the ancient work of art.

The Khan Mohammad Mirza Mosque is a historical mosque in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Origins and inspiration This mosque, an archaeological site located in southern Dhaka, near Lalbagh fort. The mosque rises above its surroundings because the tahkhana or underground rooms of the mosque are above grade. The roof of the tahkhana forms the platform on which the mosque is situated. The spacious prayer place before the main mosque is open in all directions allowing air to flow and keep the Musullis cool. Architecture and architect The main mosque where the Imam and a few Musullis are accommodated consists of three domes bears testimony of the architecture practiced during the sixteenth century. Two Persian inscriptions, one over the central archway and the other over the central Mihrab. According to an inscription found, the mosque was built during the rule of Deputy Governor of Dhaka, Farrukh Siyar, by a Khan Muhammad Mirza, who could have been the architect. The construction was orders by a Qazi Ibadullah during 1704–05 AD. The platform is 16'-6" above the ground level. The tahkhana comprises vaulted rooms for living purposes. The mosque is accessed from the east, up a flight of twenty-five steps. Area wise, the mosque occupies only a small portion of the platform. Prayer Hall The prayer hall is a rectangular structure measuring 48' x 24' and is capped by three domes, the central being the larger one. The smaller sizes of the side domes are achieved by using intermediary pendentives. The corners minarets are short and slender, rising just above the parapet and are capped by ribbed copulas. The annex to the north of the mosque serves as a madrasa or religious school and has a hujra or arcaded hall that is used for travelers and visitors. The facade of the mosque is decorated with paneling and ornamental merlons along the parapet. The entrances to the prayer hall are framed by multi-cusped arches and engaged columns on either side. Interior The interior is divided into three bays by two lateral arches. Each bay contains a mihrab that is marked by multi-cusped arch within a rectangular panel. Gardens Various kinds of seasonal flowers are cultivated in the garden at the eastern portion making the compound a sight for sore eyes. A ‘Mali’ appointed by Department of Archaeology is in charge of the upkeep of the garden. A well in the northern portion of the garden once used for supplying water for ‘Ozu’ a way of becoming fresh before prayer is now abandoned. In the southern side of the garden stands a tall, old palm tree bearing the symbol of ancient for the place. Location and ownership This ancient structure can be beheld at 150 meter west on the road that goes beside Lalbag fort. The mosque being an architectural site of Dhaka city is also used as a mosque. Mutawalli of the mosque says, "Though the mosque is owned by the government as an archeological site and is being supervised by the Department of Archeology under Ministry of Cultural affairs there is lack of sincerity and transparency in the government intervention." Restoration and controversies In 1913 the Archaeological Survey of India listed Mirza's Masjid as a historic monument; by then it had undergone alterations and appropriations that had to be demolished to restore it to its original form. The earliest photograph available on the mosque shows a ruined structure at the turn of the nineteenth century just before this early restoration attempt. Thereafter both the DOA and mosque committee have undertaken periodic repairs, some of which ignored the architectural and historic importance of the building. To compensate for the damaged drains and stop further deterioration the authority provided new outlets to drain rainwater out from the upper terrace (sahn); and improved water and sanitation services. The site experienced many encroachments that constricted the boundaries of the compound, which drew serious attention of the architects and other conservation enthusiasts when it was included as a case study in an architectural conservation workshop in 1989 in Dhaka.......

A ancient vicinity and Muslim prayer mosque. The maximum exceptional element that I revel in is the climate difference. Outside it turned into particularly warm however in the mosque I wasn't even feeling warm at all. Maybe it took place due to the fact the mosque is constructed with clay like material. I loved gambling and staying their for an hour or so.
