Completely overrated hotel…breakfast could be much better, if you want to the gym you have to pay 4 € extra. The very young personal are nice but so incompetent…if you have a problem they have no idea what can they do for you or not , finally ist “sorry we cannot help you” . these hotel still living in the 90’s, it needs a reform very quickly, and another service too …

It's a museum where you could leave. But sadly we were disappointed by service. Stuff didn't let us to get a sauna because it's too late (it was 20.15 and according by site it's work till 22.00) At the breakfast we need to ask twice to clean our table. Bathrobes were older than stone age. It is sad but I'm not satisfied in such a historic place.

For a +€200 a night 4 star hotel staying here was a very disappointing experience, for the following reasons: - They charge you €18 a night to park your car, despite being a guest. - The room on the ground floor (of which there are many) was right by a busy road. This means you can’t get changed / generally be in your room without keeping the curtains shut, and you can’t open the windows at night unless you want to be woken up by cars or inebriated patrons of the local pubs walking back home. - Air conditioning does not work, therefore in spring and summer you have to choose to either get woken up every 30 minutes by noisy passers-by, or put up with a vet hot room. Either way, you can’t sleep. - The carpet in the room was incredibly stained and the room generally dirty (we were presumably given the pet room, as we stayed with a small dog) but a bit more cleaning wouldn’t hurt - Room service stops at 9pm? Like..why have it at all. Asked for a small dessert (a bowl of ice cream) at 9:30pm - no chance. I’m not nit-picky with the places I stay. If this were a €100 a night hotel, the above would be completely acceptable (albeit frustrating). However, for a +€200 per night 4-star hotel, I find this totally unacceptable. In addition, despite a beautiful facade, the interiors are ugly and furnished in a very cheap way.

The lack of Aircon is by far the biggest issue. There is a window that opens up wide and a fan to counter it, but a- it's not the same, b- one can get a cold from the stream of fan air way easier than from air-conditioning. The shower is too large, making the toilet area very small and uncomfortable. Carpets were too dirty for a 4* hotel. Great location through. Lovely staff. Would be good to have an iron in the room.

The hotel is beautiful with nice decorations. It also very quite at night. It only take some minutes to walk to the old town nearby. However, there is no air conditioning in the room. There is window can be opened and a fan provided by hotel for the hot weather though.

Beautiful outside. Not good for value overall. The service is poor. Staff can’t figure out what went wrong with my reservation and took 30 mins to find it eventually. Also they are not very helpful when explaining the amenities. I had to ask twice how to open the gym door from the reception staff to get clear instructions regarding how I can get who to open the door. Breakfast selection is mediocre and very hectic. The room looks dated. No AC. Also beds are very short. I don’t know how an average German guy can sleep well on it as it is short even for me (5’10). But the location is great and it is a beautiful building.

Great location. Free parking on site. No air-conditioning, but our rooms had well working fans. Generous breakfast.

Impressive resort just a few steps away from the centre of Bamberg most lively and historical neighborhood. Large rooms, super clean and comfortable. Great place.

A magnificent building, but we expected much more from the interior. We had two rooms, a smaller one for the children and a larger one for ourselves. The big room was very big, but empty and ascetic, the smaller room was cozier and looked more luxurious. The large room had a large bed, but what was actually two beds pushed together with two separate mattresses. The mattresses were too soft and one mattress was also leaning towards the edge. While taking a shower in the bathtub, the bathroom floor was heavily flooded because the seal on the bathtub screen did not hold the water. An air conditioner would be expected from a hotel of this level, there was a fan, but it does not replace an air conditioner in hot weather. The breakfast was good, a large selection of different products, but it was the case with several things that when they ran out, no more were brought. When we came at 8:00 there were several different types of pastries, but 20 minutes later they ran out and within an hour no more were brought. Quite a good location for exploring the old town, on the edge of the old town and outside the main noise.

It was very hot the day we arrived and we did not see the fan in the room until late in the evening so it was uncomfortable for our baby most of that day. The minibar also did not seem to get very cold. The breakfast buffet was very good though and had many more choices than we have seen in many other European hotels.

Good rooms - only challenge was that mine only had a single window, so limited cross ventilation. However in the summers they provided a standing fan, that was helpful. The service was good. They have a reasonable breakfast spread (juices, coffee, tea, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, bread, grilled vegetables). The assortment of fresh fruits was below expectations. Sauna available for a small additional fee.

We booked "Super Plus Dopple Zimmer". Room in itself was clean but the bathroom was not that clean. We got a corner room so it was not that bright. It had a very small window. Breakfast was amazing. It had lots of variety for vegetarians as well as for the "wurst lovers" 😜 Staff was very friendly as well. The location is perfect. You can reach most of the places just by walking.

As always, a total success and experience. Breakfast is amazing, even though you have to fight the hordes of people who truly believe that paying more for a room entitles them to being not so nice to each other and the staff. The beds rock. Shower excellent. WiFi not the best but totally usable. An (expensive) island of luxe and calme in Bamberg.

Great city, great location, very nice room and hotel altogether. Style of the hotel is well maintained and incorporated within the old palace. If you enjoy this style, you will enjoy this hotel.

We absolutely loved this hotel! The room we booked was immaculate, quietly located, spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff is universally friendly and helpful. We added a second night to the stay we had already booked and though the hotel was offering a higher rate on their website they kindly extended our stay at the same rate as our first night. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and well organised. We enjoyed sitting outside but the breakfast room/ restaurant is spacious so inside wouldn’t have been a problem either. Parking is onsite in an underground car park. You can add the parking fee on to your bill for convenience and the hotel is a 5 minute walk into the centre. An excellent property offering great value for money. Highly recommend!

The room was old, hasn't been painted for years, it wasn't clean, we found hair in the bathroom and mould as well. Very disappointing. As we were leaving, we asked what the difference in price would have been if we had taken another room on the same floor (saw it as the cleaning ladies were there) and got the answer that it would have been 10 euros more. That was like a slap in the face because the difference between the rooms was like heaven and earth. The room we had shouldn't be offered at all. It ought to be renovated first.

Positive: Big historical otel. Close to city center. Cool building. Negatives: No refigrator, mobile phone connection problems, needs maintenance. Like a labyrinth.

Really nice relaxing hotel. Spacious. Situated directly on the river with easy access to the Dom and downtown Bamberg. Nice rooms very quiet.

No AC in the hotel, and that could be an issue for a hot summer day. Rooms facing the road are quite noisy. Service is minimal and does not match standards of a Four-Star hotel.

Great service; the staff accommodated our many requests and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast as a typical German buffet but was quite good and a nice way to start the day. Dinner was too expensive compare to options in town, but the food quality is good and even though the menu changes infrequently there were multiple dishes worth having. Cleaning and maintenance was lacking, especially compared to the rest of the experience. Air vents in the ceiling were visibly dusty and need to be vacuumed. Stains were visible in carpet and dining room chairs. Our room had poor vacuuming with hair and dust in plain sight. The WiFi in our room was fast but would reset frequently making it near impossible to do a business meeting. Water pressure and temperature were excellent and among the best of any hotels I’ve stayed in. Beer in the vending machine / automat!

Fine hotel, with excellent reception service. Rooms are fairly spread out so there may be a bit of a walk inside. The breakfast buffet was nice, in a well lit restaurant.

A beautiful hotel, old building brought up to it's best. The rooms are large as is the bathroom. The bath is long and wide and the toilet in a separate room. Everything is of high quality and comfort. Really good service and the breakfast is sensational! Not right in the very centre of town but only a few minute walk to where you want to be. Close to the river too. A wonderful experience. Just no airconditioning, which can not be expected in a building of this age and it was 36 degrees celcius the day I stayed, so it was a bit stuffy in the room, even with windows open - just no breeze. This is the only reason for one star less than top rating.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit in Bamberg, and our stay at the Residenzschloss was an important part of it. The rooms are gorgeous! The staff is friendly. The entire facility is clean and very pleasant. The breakfast is generous and diverse. The only small wrinkle was that my wife and I were probably the only patrons under the age of 70 at breakfast -- it felt slightly like we were in a retirement home. A very nice place to stay when in Bamberg!

Best breakfast anywhere. Impressive building in a scenic location close to town with onsite parking (12 euro a day) But, we had a deluxe room which was anything but luxurious. Dated, dusty, unclean, faulty, mould in the shower, dirty toilet seat, sparse. Shame. Excellent service from staff at the bar, at breakfast and at the frontdesk as we paid 150 euros instead of 186. Still well overpriced for a luxury room in a 4 star hotel with shoddy decor and cleanliness.

Older style hotel, good size room and bathroom. We had a room at the back overlooking garden. Really good breakfast. Only downside was lack of air conditioning and the room was very hot (August stay)

Probably the nicest hotel in the city. Bedding could have been higher quality and more modern, but the staff are very attentive to guests and the breakfast is varied and plentiful whatever your tastes may be. Run DMC stayed there on a tour long ago. Good enough for Rev. Run, good enough for me.

Amazing stay ! Rooms are incredibly big, you'd fit two London flats in each. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast is very good as well. Would highly recommend !

Amazing place with astonishing architecture. 😍 Really cozy bedroom, nice and comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and versatile. Downside: We were totally disappointed by Wellnes area 😕 It is located in basement, very small and uncomfortable. It would be better not to have it in their offer. My honest recommendation for hotel management 🙏🏻 All the other features are more then great 💫

Until check-out, I would be very pleased with the hotel and service. Unfortunately, despite the fact that we were guaranteed (during check-in) a late check-out (around 2 p.m.), in the morning after breakfast, the lady from the reception informed us that we had to leave the hotel within a maximum of 30 minutes. This unfortunately ruined my plans. So unfortunately I have to give you the lowest possible score. You should pay for your employees' mistakes, not me and my team. Considering the very rude lady from reception this was my worst hotel experience ever.

🫤 Margarita pizza is 6 out of 10. Good, but nothing special. A glass of water to it cost me almost 4 euros, in many places water is free, but here... In cold weather they served it to me with Ice. They charged me 4 euros more and put ice in it... I'm done :)
