Brought my dog here for a night run on Dec 31st and Jan 1st. The view is amazing! And the grass field was so nice too😍 They also allow cars to park inside for free on special occasions and holidays so it was really convenient 👍 However usually this place is not opened for outsiders, so better to check before going~

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the dark temple. The curry chicken was good and hot. The service was prompt and the prices were very reasonable.

We went to the Sanam Luang at sunset on Tuesday in November. The Exhibition for the late King Bhumibol was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The people were nice. The bottle of water was given out free. We spent two hours at the exhibit. We took many beautiful photos there. The area was nice and clean.

Sanam Luang is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Bangkok. Located in the heart of the city, it is a historical site that offers a glimpse into the rich culture and heritage of Thailand. The sprawling park is surrounded by several iconic buildings, making it an ideal spot for history buffs and photography enthusiasts. One of the highlights of Sanam Luang is the Grand Palace, which is one of the most iconic landmarks in Thailand. It served as the residence of the royal family for many years, and today it is open to the public as a museum. The intricate architecture and ornate decorations of the palace are truly awe-inspiring. The park itself is a delightful oasis in the bustling city, with plenty of trees, greenery, and fresh air. The vast expanse of the park is perfect for picnics, strolls, or simply lounging on the grass. On weekends, locals gather here for cultural events, live music performances, and other activities. One of the most impressive features of Sanam Luang is the large open space that can accommodate thousands of people. This makes it an ideal venue for festivals, concerts, and other large-scale events. The park also features several food stalls and vendors selling traditional Thai snacks and refreshments. The park is an ideal spot for relaxation, entertainment, and exploration. With its stunning architecture, beautiful greenery, and vibrant atmosphere, Sanam Luang is a true gem in the heart of Bangkok.

(Translated by Google) In the past, it was called Thung Phra Men because it was originally used as a place To present the royal cremation of the King and the Royal Family In the reign of King Rama IV, the name was changed to make it look not depressed, so it was called Sanam Luang and the area was expanded to date. This area of Sanam Luang Therefore has the importance of Rattanakosin Because it has been used for many ceremonies from the past to the present, whether it is a candle lit ceremony Celebrate the Lent Of the land god Royal Coronation Ceremony The first ceremony, auspicious plowing day, etc.

This old royal palace in Bangkok opens publicly for tourists. One you need to remember is wearing long jeans, trousers, or long skirt otherwise you have to spend money buying long trousers in front of the royal palace. You need to wear appropriately. There is strict law and you need to be obedient. A sacred place you can visit.

I spent time on New Year, Special Occasion, which the Palace provide Parking Place at North of SanamLuang. Very convenience but have to walk in a long way might be a bit tough for senior if their walking is not strong, suggest to prepare wheel chair with you also. Remarks : After special occasion might be no parking to reserve for.

This is a major city square. It is partially used as a parking place. This major square has the size of a football field and is directly located in front of a lot of palace buildings.

This is the current of Sanam Luang with containers exhibition, I prefer to imagine them as the installation art even through they are occured by the political issues. Yes!!! the containers represented social and political matters and is it possibly to maintain them here forever? Good for social education and Sanam Luang is definated in a new meaning by each period depended on the country's context. There is the clue that brings us (Thais) to research about our country. Anyway, I like this happening objects indeed. Please leave them as long as possible. 22Feb2021

Cool place to chill and relax with it's very wide area. This place also used as the Royal Ceremonial venue. Throughout the year, this place is well taken care of. There's a lot of things to do around the area. It's neighboring establishments includes The Grand Palace, Wat Phu, Wat Arun, Ministry of Defence, Supreme Court, Khaosan Road, Democracy Monument, Giant Swing and many others that includes in Bangkok's touristy spot. Almost everything surround this place except for shopping malls. Aside from that, beside is one of the prestigious schools in Bangkok, Thammasat University. If you've gone this area take a walk tour and discover for yourself. ☺️

A beautiful and spacious place where you can go for a walk and sport, there are many green spaces surrounding the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, The Grand Palace and Silpakorn University (Wang Tha Phra), this area is close to the chinese town and to the old town, which has many popular local restaurants and there are many restaurants that serve the halal food.

Hard to comment. In the day time, it is surrounded by many key tourist and cultural attractions, thus maintained clean. From dusk to dawn, the place becomes exposed to many of the homeless, and gets very unsanitized just over half the night.

No parking at the place, you have to park your car at royal thai navy club or come by MRT Siamchai station and go by walk. Tuk tuk and taxi don't want to pick up Thai tourists. Don't know why.

Late afternoon, the queues were short, and moved quickly. We were able to see the fabulous buildings by day and night. I hope the Government keeps it open longer, to give more Thais the opportunity to see it , as it is beautiful on tv, but so much better in person.

The special annual occasion on New Year's Eve is being held here tonight. Instead of participating the new year's count down celebration elsewhere, thousands of Thai buddhist gather here for chanting for new year blessings led by venerable buddhist monks (alternatively so-called cross year praying activity), paying respect to the Holy Buddha's relics and the Royal portrait of HM King Rama X and the Queen. The live performances, such as, Khon (the masked dance) and Thai traditional dances are enjoyable before the chanting session. It is an auspicious occasion before entering the new prosperous B.E. 2563 or 2020. Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best in 2020 and years to come. สุขสวัสดี วาระดิถีขึ้นปีใหม่ ๒๕๖๓

pretty cool views of the palace however the area is rather barren and you aren’t allowed to play football on the grounds either. basically just a big rectangle of shortly cut grass to serve as some kind of royal grounds in front of the palace.

Sanam Luang is a historic public square located in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. This large open space is steeped in history, having served as a royal cremation site, a venue for royal ceremonies, and a gathering place for political protests and rallies. The park is beautifully landscaped and well-maintained, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It is also a popular venue for various events, including festivals, and national events. In the year 2010, Bangkok renovated the landscape of Sanam Luang, improving it from its previous state of disrepair. The renovation was completed in late April of 2011, and the area was officially opened on August 9, 2011. The site is no longer permitted to be used for any political activities, as it is reserved only for royal ceremonies. In addition, people are asked to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and not littering on the ground. If a person is found violating this rule, they may be fined no more than 1,000 baht. If the fine cannot be paid, the offender must perform community service by picking up 100 pieces of garbage. Bangkok city allows people to enter the area for relaxation and recreation as usual, but prohibits the sale of goods, parking, or sleeping on the grounds. The area can be accessed between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. In addition, people can still travel through the central road connecting Thammasat University to the Grand Palace 24 hours a day. A temporary fence has been installed to prevent invasion and to maintain the beauty of the site. Those who wish to use the area must request permission from Bangkok, but the city will not allow the area to be used for political rallies or activities. Additionally, Bangkok has established a center to facilitate events and maintain peace in the area. Overall, Sanam Luang is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Thai history and culture. Whether you're looking to enjoy a peaceful picnic, attend a cultural event, or simply take in the sights and sounds of this beautiful park, there is something for everyone at Sanam Luang.

Sanam Luang is a state park that has not only been used by the government for numerous regal events and celebrations, but also by Thais for socializing and recreation in the past. As this is essentially the entrance to the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, hygiene and aesthetic appeal had to be a priority. Sanam Luang was renovated in 2010-2011, and it now appears gorgeous and spotless.
