Sanam
Luang
is
a
historic
public
square
located
in
the
heart
of
Bangkok,
Thailand.
This
large
open
space
is
steeped
in
history,
having
served
as
a
royal
cremation
site,
a
venue
for
royal
ceremonies,
and
a
gathering
place
for
political
protests
and
rallies.
The
park
is
beautifully
landscaped
and
well-maintained,
making
it
a
popular
spot
for
locals
and
tourists
alike
to
relax
and
enjoy
the
outdoors.
It
is
also
a
popular
venue
for
various
events,
including
festivals,
and
national
events.
In
the
year
2010,
Bangkok
renovated
the
landscape
of
Sanam
Luang,
improving
it
from
its
previous
state
of
disrepair.
The
renovation
was
completed
in
late
April
of
2011,
and
the
area
was
officially
opened
on
August
9,
2011.
The
site
is
no
longer
permitted
to
be
used
for
any
political
activities,
as
it
is
reserved
only
for
royal
ceremonies.
In
addition,
people
are
asked
to
cooperate
in
maintaining
cleanliness
and
not
littering
on
the
ground.
If
a
person
is
found
violating
this
rule,
they
may
be
fined
no
more
than
1,000
baht.
If
the
fine
cannot
be
paid,
the
offender
must
perform
community
service
by
picking
up
100
pieces
of
garbage.
Bangkok
city
allows
people
to
enter
the
area
for
relaxation
and
recreation
as
usual,
but
prohibits
the
sale
of
goods,
parking,
or
sleeping
on
the
grounds.
The
area
can
be
accessed
between
5:00
a.m.
and
10:00
p.m.
In
addition,
people
can
still
travel
through
the
central
road
connecting
Thammasat
University
to
the
Grand
Palace
24
hours
a
day.
A
temporary
fence
has
been
installed
to
prevent
invasion
and
to
maintain
the
beauty
of
the
site.
Those
who
wish
to
use
the
area
must
request
permission
from
Bangkok,
but
the
city
will
not
allow
the
area
to
be
used
for
political
rallies
or
activities.
Additionally,
Bangkok
has
established
a
center
to
facilitate
events
and
maintain
peace
in
the
area.
Overall,
Sanam
Luang
is
a
must-visit
destination
for
anyone
interested
in
Thai
history
and
culture.
Whether
you're
looking
to
enjoy
a
peaceful
picnic,
attend
a
cultural
event,
or
simply
take
in
the
sights
and
sounds
of
this
beautiful
park,
there
is
something
for
everyone
at
Sanam
Luang.
