Another place of interest within the Paharpur Bihar area is the Paharpur Museum. The entrance fee here is 10 rupees. Numerous ancient documents, equipment and other small items found from this Buddhist monastery can be found here. The beauty of the building and its surroundings has been enhanced by the variety of trees and gardens. It feels good when I know about the ancient history and culture of Bangladesh.

It's truly awe inspiring. Seeing this place of our great cultural heritage also increases our self-respect as a nation - we had such a big educational institution (university) many hundred years ago! It was renowned beyond the geographic limit of the country and worldknown scholar Shri Atish Dipankar used to work as its Vice Chancellor. It's architecturally greatly designed and have wonderful artistic fineness of terracotta tiles.

I have visited after 20 years, they made some complex, that was not seen in 20 years back. But the main monument I think all the terracota has been stolen even in the Museum it seems to me most of the sculpture are replica. This is Bangladesh, everything and anything is possible here.

The museum could have been decorated more nicely. Security could be better maintained. Although taking pictures inside the museum is completely prohibited, many people were taking pictures inside.

Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of northern Bangladesh, the Paharpur Buddhist Bihar Museum is a captivating treasure that brings the rich history and cultural heritage of the region to life. As a local guide contributor, it brings me great pleasure to share my experience and recommend this remarkable destination to all curious travelers and history enthusiasts. Located in the village of Paharpur, the museum stands as a testament to the ancient architectural marvel that once was the Paharpur Mahavihara, a significant Buddhist monastery complex dating back to the 8th century. Its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985 only reinforces its importance and allure. Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by a serene ambiance that sets the tone for a captivating journey. The museum exhibits a rich collection of artifacts, relics, and sculptures that vividly depict the life and teachings of Lord Buddha, offering a profound insight into the region's Buddhist heritage. The attention to detail and the informative displays make for an engaging and educational experience. The centerpiece of the museum is undoubtedly the awe-inspiring replica of the main stupa of the Paharpur Mahavihara. Towering at a height of approximately 23 meters, this scale model provides a glimpse into the grandeur of the original structure that once stood proudly on the site. Its intricate carvings and architectural finesse leave visitors in awe, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the ancient artisans. One of the highlights of visiting the museum is the guided tour option. The knowledgeable and friendly guides take visitors on a captivating journey through time, revealing the historical and cultural significance of the site. Their passion for the subject matter is evident, making the experience all the more enriching. The museum's surroundings deserve special mention. The sprawling green lawns and tranquil ambiance make it an ideal spot for contemplation and relaxation. It is common to see visitors seated on the lawns, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere while admiring the beauty of the ancient ruins and the lush surrounding landscapes. The management deserves praise for the well-maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and convenient parking options. The souvenir shop offers a delightful selection of mementos, books, and handicrafts that make for memorable keepsakes. In conclusion, a visit to the Paharpur Buddhist Bihar Museum is an enriching and soul-stirring experience. It is not merely a journey through time but also a testament to the harmonious coexistence of culture and nature. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a tranquil escape, this museum should be at the top of your list. Prepare to be mesmerized by the timeless beauty and spiritual significance of this remarkable site.

In 1998, the old building of Paharpur Bihar Museum was demolished and a new building was constructed. This museum with 4 galleries houses the artefacts collected from Paharpur Vihar and surrounding areas. Among the artifacts preserved in the Paharpur Museum are bronze busts of Buddha, terracotta plaques, decorated bricks, stone statues and terracotta lamps etc.

A world class archaeological site. The most suitable time to visit the place would be winter (October to March). In the summer the weather is unbearably humid.

Most of the archaeological artifacts in the area are in the Rajshahi Barendra Museum. As a result, the ruins of the historic "Sompur Bihar" infrastructure and the artwork painted on it are still the centre of attraction
