It is a memorial place for international mother language days. Related to 1952 āĻāĻžāĻˇāĻž āĻ†āĻ¨ā§āĻĻā§‹āĻ˛āĻ¨. . . . āĻ¸ā§āĻŽā§ƒāĻ¤āĻŋ āĻšāĻŋāĻ°āĻ¨ā§āĻ¤āĻ¨ (Smriti Chirantan) is a ritual observed in Kolkata, India to remember and pay homage to departed loved ones. The phrase "Smriti Chirantan" means "Memory Eternal" in Bengali. The ritual is typically observed on the first day of the Bengali month of Kartik, which falls in October or November of the Gregorian calendar. It is believed that during this time, the veil between the living and the dead becomes thinner, allowing the living to communicate with their departed loved ones. During Smriti Chirantan, families gather at their ancestral homes or at local cemeteries to offer prayers and perform rituals for their deceased ancestors. They light earthen lamps and incense, and offer food, flowers, and other items to their departed loved ones. The ritual is seen as a way to honor and remember the deceased, and to ensure that their memory remains eternal. It is also believed to provide a sense of closure and comfort for the living, knowing that their loved ones are remembered and respected. Overall, Smriti Chirantan is a deeply rooted tradition in Kolkata, and is seen as an important way to maintain cultural and familial ties with the past.

'Smriti Chirantan' is an installation with the names of 194 martyrs of Dhaka University. The initial design of the installation was done by architects Abdul Mohaimen and Mashiuddin Shaker. Entering the main gate of the university through the 'Mukti O Ganatantra Toran', a short distance away, in front of the VC's residence, you will see 14 small and large granite stone walls as an example of the sacrifice of Dhaka University with the great liberation war of 1971. On both sides of the black staircase while climbing the altar, name plates titled "Smriti Chirantan" were written in Bengali and English in honor of the Dhaka University and its martyred members killed during the war of liberation.

Dhaka University has a great role in the Liberation War of Bangladesh. It was the centre of Independence Movement. This is why Pakistan Army and its collaborators were strongly involved in genocide in this campus. Memory Eternal Dhaka University consists the names of all of its staffs who embraced martyrdom during the period of Liberation War in 1971.

Also known as āĻāĻŋāĻ¸āĻŋ āĻšāĻ¤ā§āĻŦāĻ°āĨ¤ This is a quite quiet place and cooler than any other places of the Dhaka city. You can feel a glimpse of our great liberation war from the graffiti painted on the walls around here. Your mind will be fresh as the place is covered by some big trees and breeze is blowing through this place sometimes.

The presence of many TikTokers, particularly outsiders, has caused significant deterioration in this area, turning it into an eyesore due to their irresponsible actions. As a result, the academic environment for students is now under threat. This location is, in fact, the property of an institution, and its original purpose was to provide a convenient route for daily transportation. However, the misuse by the public has led to the transformation of this place into something resembling a park, which was not the intention of the authorities. Unfortunately, the same issues can also be observed at TSC and Fuller Road, where the situation is no different. These places, which are meant for academic and institutional purposes, are being negatively affected by people's inappropriate behavior, turning them into recreational spots rather than maintaining their intended function. The degradation of these areas not only poses challenges for students and the academic environment but also reflects poorly on the overall upkeep and respect for the institutions. It is crucial for both the public and authorities to work together to restore the original purpose of these locations and preserve their academic importance.
