We are regulars at the Keg and this location in particular. The one thing about the keg is you always know what to expect. The standard is usually exception from location to the next, however this family night out was much different. I was intrigued by the Seasonal Menu which featured a sirloin with mushroom and truffle cream sauce (picture from their website included) and what I got was nothing like the picture not to mention my medium rare steak was still bleeding. You can see in my pictures the difference from the website and what I got. I paid the additional up charge for the mushroom truffle (not so creamy) sauce. My wife got the salmon which was way over cooked which you can see in the picture. Our boys got the keg burger and steak and lobster, which they were both happy with. The Oysters Rockefeller were excellent, however they were out of calamari? How does the keg run out of a staple? I understand that we are coming out of a lockdown and it’s difficult to find staff but the keg experience was not the normal keg experience. We had drinks and appetizers and all being said we spent $460. Not what we expect from the Keg. Please get back to your usual self.

In the past three nights I have reviewed three restaurants primarily for they filet mignon. One upscale Toronto eatery and two in Barrie. By far the hands down winner was the Keg.The experience was also the most positive. We arrived at our scheduled reservation time and were immediately seated. The restaurant was full and buzzing with activity. Were were greeted by our waitress Emma right away who was pleasant and attentive the whole night. We had heard that the French Onion soup was also very good and started with that. Indeed the soup was excellent. Just the right amount of cheese, not overly drowned with bread and a very flavourful broth. We also ordered a baked goat cheese from a special addition to their regular menu. This was a menu celebrating the Kegs 50th year in business. This dish was so spectacular that I suggest they add it to their everyday menu along with the baked brie they already have there. We ordered a 7oz and a 10oz filet along with fully dressed baked potatoes. The food arrived hot and was cooked perfectly to our individual requested levels. The vegetables on the side were also perfect. They were still crisp to the bite and flavourful. Usually restaurants get this easy part wrong and serve soggy limp vegetables. The potato was also perfect. No hint of the skin being burnt or any undercooked flesh. The filets come wrapped in bacon which we immediately removed. The last thing I want to taste is bacon with such a perfectly cooked piece of high end beef. I'm not sure why they cook it this way but it is not necessary to overwhelm the taste of the filet withe the taste of bacon in my opinion. Some may like this and to each his/her own. The Keg is my new definite go to for a great filet mignon. The price of the filet in all three reviews were about the same. Only the Keg offered a 10oz version.

The service is great. We came the day before a Valentines, a Sunday, so it was really busy. The Calamari appetizer was very delicious and well prepared. Our entreés, with a side of mushrooms and scallops, were phenomenal. Everything, including the lobster, was cooked to perfection. The desserts (cheesecake and a brownie), were also exceptionally delicious. The atmosphere was good. It is a good restaurant, but 4 stars because there are other great and more affordable restaurants in Barrie.

It was very busy but we had a reservation and were seated quickly. Service was good although food did take a bit long. We both got the 1/2 lobster and steak. It was delicious! We also got a mini dessert each which were yummy and just the right amount. We had bacon wrapped scallops as an app which were fantastic. I had a glass of red sangria first, it was good but sweet so j wouldn't recommend ordering more than one. Great experience overall!

I go to the Keg every year for my anniversary. We usually go to the Barrie or Mississauga location, but this location is the best. They have elevated their butter, which is smoky and cheesy but very light. It's delicious with their fresh warm bread. Jennifer was our waitress today when we went back for appetizers and dessert. She is an excellent waitress, very friendly, we sat at the booth at the bar, very comfortable. The baked brie is delicious and the mushroom caps. The Billy miner cake is a mocha ice cream cake with sliced almonds which is perfect for sharing. The portions will not disappoint. Highly recommended

I would brave a winter storm to come to this location (literally)! Service is above and beyond and such a great value for what you pay. Sirloin Oscar is my favourite dish and good to know that this location cooks their steaks just perfectly. They even gave us a free dessert as we were celebrating our anniversary! Would highly recommend The Keg Barrie

Fully booked on a Sat evening but we were able to enjoy dinner at the bar. Wait staff was friendly and food was on point. Pleasant ambiance.

Great service from Bradley. Thanks, Brad! Great food. Great atmosphere. Steak was cooked to how we asked. Music was soft and was able to hear my girlfriend easily, even with the other customers around us. Couldn't have asked for a better Valentine's Day dinner. Thank you everyone and see you next year.

We had a beautiful low-key dinner for my husband's birthday. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated right away. The server was so friendly and accommodating to the fact that our 3 year old was dining with us. We asked for modifications to his menu, and it was done without any hassle. The food was delicious as always. I tried the Lamb, and my husband had the prime rib. The server brought a slice of cake at the end of the meal. Wonderful experience!

Took my son here for his birthday. Food was good and the price is good. My lemonade was made with carbonated water. I can't drink. She was very nice about it. Our waitress was awesome. We will be back.

Was initially going to St. Louis for a quick bite but since they did not have any fries for the night we decided to come get some calamari and nachos but then how could you not order a steak, we ended up giving in. We arrived 9:55pm and they closed at 10 and their dining area was closed. My husband is a wheelchair user so we could not go to the bar due to high top tables and the other room in the bar with low top tables had stairs to enter. They were very accommodating and opened up the dining for us which was great! Shout out to the chef because every. single. time. I come to this specific location our food is cooked amazingly. We got a filet mignon 10oz to share with our nachos and calamari…. Our steak was cooked perfect medium. Just because we were probably the last people there doesn’t mean anything because like I said every time we come to this location at whatever time (and we’ve been to all the locations in Toronto and Vaughan) it doesn’t disappoint. The service and the food is always too good!

New Year's eve at 3:30pm and the place was bustling and packed in a nice way. Great atmosphere. The food and service were what to expect from a Keg. Very very good!!!!

My family and I used to go to the Keg all the time but ever since I’ve turned vegan, obviously it is not a place I would frequent now. However, my family informed me that they now had vegan options on the menu whereas before they were nonexistent. So I read over their new menu and was happy to see a couple of vegan/plant based options for entrees and so I agreed to go dine there. When placing our orders, I asked our server if the Mediterranean Cauliflower is indeed vegan, as it shows on the menu (because you never know)… and he informed me that he was under the assumption that it’s vegetarian, and not vegan, but that he would double check with the kitchen. He came back and confirmed that it is NOT vegan, and that they put some sort of dairy in it with the cauliflower!!! I told him that some people won’t even double check and will order this item thinking that it’s vegan when in fact it is not. And he said he would inform management regarding the matter. So I am writing this review to caution those who are vegan to always ask and double check these so called vegan labelled options on menus! I feel bad for those who have ordered it thinking that it was vegan. I ended up ordering the Vegetarian Meatloaf, which was just alright… the meatloaf texture was too soft and cauliflower mash was tasteless. You could easily invest in some vegan butter which isn’t hard to find, and add some salt as well. But please do better, The Keg! It’s great that you’ve added plant based options but you can’t be labelling things plant based when they are in fact, not 👎🏼

First time to The Keg in Barrie and it was great. One of the reasons I like The Keg is it’s usually consistent at every location. Service was great from the bar to the table and plenty busy. Food was cooked great and everything tasted great. It’s been a few years since we have been to The Keg but it was like we remembered and left happy and full.

The Keg is easily one of Barrie’s classiest and high quality restaurants. The food is prepared well, the staff are very attentive, friendly, and the washrooms kept clean. Recently had the lobster tails and Billy Miner Pie for dessert. I have to say that even though the main course is very good, I loved the keg fries as well as calamari appetizer.

Solid service and good food (tereyaki Steak), if pricey. It was quite busy while there at about 1700h so the service was understandably a bit slow, but friendly all the same. As to atmospher, where I sat was nice but again we picked a busy time so the crowd really stood out especially when your are placed in the centre. Still, for my part, if you don't mind spending the money the Keg is still worth the visit

Great fine dining restaurant to watch sports with excellent steaks! I ordered the 7oz Fillet with loaded potato which was very flavorful and cooked perfectly medium. Comes out with a cheese sauce (I assume is a Canadian thing) it was okay but I prefer my steak without anything covering up the juicy flavors. We finished the night with the chocolate cake which was absolutely incredible. Great service and great food with TVs all around airing sports. This may be my new favorite steak house.

My three friends & I went to the Keg in Barrie after a day of skiing/snowboarding at MSLM. On a Sunday late afternoon, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Our server came & took our drink and food order quickly. She was friendly, quick and efficient & made sure to check in with us to ensure that all is okay. I ordered the 7 oz. filet mignon wrapped in bacon in the Keg classic dinner which includes a salad of your choice. I chose the iceberg wedge with blue cheese dressing. I got my steak medium rare (came out perfect) & twice baked for my accompliment and it also came with mushrooms plus a broccoli & sweet potato mix. Everything was perfection including the sour dough bread with three cheese butter. My friends all order the steak frites and they all enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend this location for their fantastic food & service. I forgot to take a photo of my steak dinner as I got too excited once I saw it lol.

Great location that’s warm and friendly. Food quality is superb and while it can be pricey you get what you pay for. No, not all Keg’s are created equal as this one is really good. Plenty of parking and if the weather is good the patio is great.

They were very quick, respectful and courteous Food was good and had different flavors than expected but really well prepared. My only question was about the prime rib, the flavor was good, but had something I didn't recognize, might be just a type of salt used or maybe it was tenderized with something else I don't recognize 🤔? Was overall a great time 😁

I love this location out of all the Kegs. The food is always prepared consistently perfect. Nicole and Todd always make sure we feel our business is appreciated, Eric, Katie, Cora, Sarah jelly, Nestany and staff always give incredible service. Dave makes the best drinks behind the bar. Bring back the half price Margs on Fridays!
