Awesome little fountain with ten dancing mechanical sculptures. There was one that was frozen and we could of stayed there for hours watching them. Nice area and so much to see. Kids loves trying to figure them out. One was iced over which was interesting to watch.

Had a nice time here observing the mobile robot water fountain ! It’s so hot today that I felt like dip in the water, but no one else was doing it so I resisted! It cooled me off just by observing the fountains and hearing the fountain sounds 😊

The fountain is easy to locate and it’s next to the Theater. They are very artistic, impressive and always moving. Was easy to stand contemplating them and getting mesmerized by their ingenious designs. One can get close enough to take pictures of most of them. When it gets dark, the fountain gets lighted and the appearance is slightly different. It’s well worth visiting.

The Tinguely Fountain in Basel is a captivating masterpiece of kinetic art. Created by renowned Swiss artist Jean Tinguely, this fountain is a delightful fusion of sculpture and waterworks. Its collection of whimsical, mechanical sculptures come to life, splashing and whirring in choreographed chaos. Each piece is a testament to Tinguely's creativity and skill, celebrating the joy of movement and sound. Highly recommended free to enter attraction in Basel.

Fascinating little fountain. Fun to watch each of the characters play with the water in different ways. Perfect spot for a rest and a bag lunch.

Lovely city of Basel. All the water fountains were made from the remains of the old theatre that was previously there.

This is one of the most interesting fountain in Basel. The playful and whimsical fountain reminds me of the Stravinsky Fountain in Paris. The fountain illustrates all kinds of different ways to spray waters from the fountain.

Tinguely fountain is best enjoyed when the sun is shining, yet we enjoyed it while it rained. Do not attempt to walk into the statue next to it, when we were there it resembled an open air toilet 😒.

I am sure it would be impressive if I had been able to park anywhere near the place! Traffic was insane for a country girl! The Theater is right next to it but the parking was closed.

What an entertaining and unique fountain! Plenty of space to sit and a chance to see the church steeple in the background. It’s certainly worthwhile to stop by and relax while watching the fountain parts move around. If you’re lucky, a duck may be on the fountain, leading to some hilarious happenings.

Absolutely beautiful fountain, watching every piece working hard to do it's part... 🤩 I've seen countless fountains but this one beats them all.

Nice fountain art installation with a bunch of useless but entertaining mechanical devices throwing water around and making funny noises. I suppose the artist's point was to reflect on how time flies steadily and humanity builds pointless stuff that precipitates our race into end-of-times oblivion, or some similarly deep insightful depressing BS, I don't know I'm an engineer not an artist please leave me alone

Easy to get lost in this sculpture for half an hour. There’s a description board written in three languages under the canopy area on the north side of the fountain where you can read more about each of the sculpture components. I’m sure you’ll find one you relate to!

Very beautiful fountain! It has 10 individual machines that sprinkle water. It's truly mesmerising to observe them work, their only real purpose is to just be, they accomplish nothing but art and some do this in a simple way while others achieve this with more complex or intricate movements and assemblies.

Quirky fountain in the heart of the city. We started our Basel walking tour from this fountain and it was interesting to watch. This artistic fountain is made of metals which are made to look like they are playing with each other. It was a sunny day and the show surprised us with a little rainbow.

Entertaining oeuvres on water. The fountain is located at the entrance of the city center, near restaurants, and the Elisabethenkirshe. On its side, there are benches for you to relax on and trees for shade from heated summer days. This place is family friendly.

Interessanter Brunnen. Man kann sich drum herum auf die Steine setzen und dem Wasserspiel zugucken. Für Kinder ist das Wasserspiel ganz schön aber nichts, wobei man für eine längere Zeit zugucken kann. Nebendran befindet sich das Theater.

Jean Tinguely was a troubled genius and his works, museum and life are and were amazing. This fountain draws many visitors, but once you study the history of it and know what is being represented it's even more magical. It's just one more example of Jean’s legacy of tongue wagging irreverence!

👍👍 Not too big, but a very beautiful park from Basel. Clean, many playgrounds for children, all green. 😍 I like the wood "obstacles" which are that interesting that even parents use them. The fact that at least blue parking place is not that hard to find might be a great plus for this park too.
