We also took a few daily fish dishes - shrimps, dorado and octopus salad. While the octopus again was just brilliantly cooked, the dorado with bean souse was lacking a taste and were simply plain. Took a little while before I checked out the place with my girl and found that it is great! One of the key things I think why the restaurant is successful is that the proprietors I from Cuba. Looks to me like it’s a family business with a lot of heart put into the business and a lot of love put into the business and into the place. The decor is comfortable and very Cuban. It is served in a “nouveau cuisine” style but, there is enough to eat on the plate. So, the dishes I’ve tried were “Roper Vieja” which is Cuban style braised in shredded beef soup with rice black beans home-made fritters and salad. The other dish I’ve tried is the “Bistro de Palomilla (res)” which is ribeye steak marinade in garlic lime juice and onion soup with Maureen rice handmade fridges and salad. Both were exceptionally flavourful to my delight. They have these kind of funny green glass rectangle plates that they served the food on. I’ve never seen anything like it before; they are unique. Again, served in that “nouveau cuisine” style but, there is a enough to eat. The arrangement of the food on the plate is food for the eyes. And the prices are reasonable. Now, watch out for those drinks they serve and strong; really strong. If you really want to have that Cuban style flavour in Berlin, this is the place to come.

This is a very nice little restaurant run by Cubans so the kitchen is original from Cuba. Nice atmosphere. The food is excellent and you can taste exotic dishes prepared with very good ingredients. The restaurant itself is nice and cozy, has some cool decorations and good music (if you dont mind latin american music, and in particular cuban). The service was also good, the waitress was very friendly and happily explained the dishes to us, she also spoke spanish. The atmosphere and the service are the main positives, however the reason I am taking two stars is a bit because of the food and the prices. I ordered the "steak", this however is not a steak, at least not one that remotely shared the texture, size or other properties that I have ever seen in a steak. A small portion of "toston" is like 5 euros, which you can almost eat in a single bite. I just avoided drinks all together, all of which were above 6 euro it seems (a common problem I guess in german restaurants, all drinks are small and expensive). Great mojitos with Havana club to start with. Yummy appetizers. I believe I ordered the yuca frita which were great, and the tostones with shrimp. The dorade fish special is what I got for my main entree and I was blown away! Seriously this fish was insanely good. The skin was crispy and flavorful while the meat on the inside was perfectly tender and melt-in-your-mouth succulent. If you’re looking for a good meal in Berlin, Pequena Habana will not disappoint!
