A religious building dedicated to St Mary has been at the heart of Moseley for over 600 years. The foundation of the church for public worship is taken to be the Papal Mandate from Pope Innocent VII dated 2 February 1405 by which he instructed the Bishop of Worcester to allow the local parishioners to have mass and other divine offices celebrated by fit priests in the chapel of St Mary Moseley. At that time, the Parish Church was at Bromsgrove and that church was said to be so distant that access at certain times of the year was impossible, without danger, especially for old men and pregnant women and other weak persons, on account of the distance and floods.

Nice Church bells that ring out every Sunday morning to welcome the locals to morning services.

I've rung the bells here and they're a good set of Taylor's and Gillett bells. The Tenor is 18cwt in F casted by Gillett and Johnston of Croydon in 1950. Bells 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 casted by John Taylor and Co of Loughborough in 2012 and 8,9,10 are casted by Gillett and Johnston of Croydon in 1950. The Tenor has a nice hum.

Well worth a visit for visiting bellringers. 10 musical bells with a keen resident band who often ring Grandsire Caters but also include call changes and simpler methods on a regular basis. Good (even sparkling) striking is always the aim but errors are not regarded as unforgivable and keen novice ringers are taken seriously and encouraged by excellent coaching.

Lovely location and amazing history. Check out the Moseley society page for history of the site dating back to the 12th Century.
