I was SHOCKED to face such situation with my family at Travelodge !! I stayed at Traveldge before and I like it, but I don't know what is wrong with this branch. Staff are totally non helpful !! My booking was for a family room for 1 night. We checked in at 9 pm and found that our room is only a double not a family room. I left my wife in the room with the kids and returned back to the receptionist (Danielle) to ask for my family room. Surprisingly, he did not know that no family rooms were left and he was saying that is "not his problem" and the only option he gave me (after he spoke to his colleague in the shift) is to move me to another hotel, otherwise he will REFUSE the booking and force us to leave the hotel (me, my wife and two daughter 7 & 2 years old).. at 9 pm !! THAT IS HOW THEY WERE HANDLING THE SITUATION. I asked for another double room so we can split into 2 rooms and they refused that solution. I asked them many times to speak to someone senior so they would be able to handle that situation, finally they accepted to do so and the manager agreed to check us in another double room. The other guy opened the room with his masterkey while my wife was inside the room "without even knocking the door in advance" and he was calling me "rude" as I was angry at what he did !! And he told me literally that even after the manager agreed to give us another double room, he would not do as I was causing drama !!! Finally they gave us another room. Worst situation ever in a hotel. I convinced my friend to stay at Travelodge instead of premier inn but I think he was right. Last time to book at Travelodge.

After reading through the reviews I found some Negative one's which I ignored and thought people may of of been exaggerating but still booked a family room for me and my two children.. we arrived at the hotel and a nice friendly guy at the reception greeted us and booked us in.. but then the Manager on duty named Julietta was very blunt and didn't even say hello, when I said it to her ..she ignored us and started speaking to the guy saying that we didn't specify the beds which was not an option when booking. Then she says that because we didn't specify online, they're willing to give us a a double and 2 single beds ,as a good will gesture which was kind but not really my fault, but I thanked her anyway even though she was still rude and very blunt. We got to the room and you can see in the pictures..2 of the single beds were really revolting as there was human hair and skin on the sheets and pillows. Absolutely Disgusting, we should of complained but we didn't want to cause any problems as we were only here for the night. Then we left our hotel went to visit family and got back around midnight and then we couldn't get back in the main door as our door keys wouldn't work ..we waited around 10 minutes for someone to open the door after ringing the bell constantly. I don't think I'll be coming back to this branch anytime soon and I forgot to mention the bowling alley underneath the hotel, will definitely disturb your sleep. Dont stay here, the Manager definitely needs to sort her attitude out and learn to be polite and welcoming.

Good location for the attractions and restaurants located just downstairs from the Travelodge. If you're staying for the arena or bull ring it's quite a good walk to get there. The only major downside is there is no free parking for Travelodge guests, some of the rooms are quite damaged and due to the location the Travelodge gets quite a lot of guests and some don't care about others sleep.

Rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable, staff are really friendly. Breakfast is okay but I recommend you go to ether one of the coffee shops located within 100 yards.

We stayed here due to a concert nearby (walking distance). First impressions was very good. The service was okay and the workers were nice. When we got to the room, there was a horrible smell lingering in the bathroom area and seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned for a week. The smell lingered the whole time we stayed. The plug in the bath was dirty and so was the bath itself. I used the hand wash and as I pressed it, it fell off the wall. Also, the radiator in the room was so loud which kept us awake and it kept flashing throughout the night. I had one of the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. You also had to pay for the WiFi which is disappointing so had to waste my 4G throughout my stay (which barely worked). I will not be staying here again and I do not recommend this place for anyone.

Well staying here was definitely an experience, not a nice one either. First time visiting a Travelodge, and the last. Under the illusion of a cheaper hotel stay, however when including the cost of wifi and paid parking it isn’t cheap at all. £70 average per night for a room with no air conditioning, a window that cracks slightly open so no ventilation in 28 degree weather. Walls are paper thin so couple activities next door were heard throughout the evening, children running up and down corridors at 7am-10am. Every 12 hours the door card resets so you then have to wait for a receptionist to let you back in the halls and rooms. Room service was nearly none existent, bed was not made or changed for nearly a week, towels were barely replaced, when they were replaced a smaller amount of clean towels were given. One of the towels was actually dirty with a grey/brown stain on so that reduced the number of towels to 1. Housekeepers ignored the please do not disturb sign and woke me and my partner up, another day the housekeeping sign was ignored and we received no fresh towels even before 10:30am. Only nice thing about this hotel is the reception staff that are trying their best to make the hotel as decent as possible given the circumstances. A young man on reception most afternoons and evenings this past week was very friendly and accommodating, another member of staff an older gentleman was also nice when we saw him on certain afternoons. Overall they deserve way better and I’m sure they are sick of listening to complaints that bad management and owners are causing.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The only positive thing about this place is the fact that it’s near to the city center. Being charged £100 a night, you would expect something decent, however you would be shocked. Firstly, we are barely supplied with the basics. There is no consistent, available room service (cleaning, sheet changing, replenishment of toilet paper). In order to receive it you must manually ask the reception a day prior, because the signs placed on the front of the door are ignored - even then, you would be lucky if you actually receive it in the end. There is no TV (just a small monitor situated on the other side of the room to the beds), no AC, and if you don’t have unlimited call minutes, good luck, because in order to reach the reception there is a number given to you that you must contact on your own mobile, because they don’t supply you with a room phone. Furthermore, the state of the room itself is horrid: the carpets are stained, bathroom walls are disgusting, stains on the ceiling, the room is tiny, and the room somehow always reeks (even with the rare occasion of room service). The only redeeming quality besides the location is that the staff are rather friendly and are honestly trying their best considering the constraints of what’s available. Overall, I’m ecstatic to not be returning here again.

Perfect little hotel for utilita arena. Was a 15 min walk. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Big public carpark adjacent to hotel. Plenty of facilities nearby.

We stayed here for 3 nights for work, parking costs an absolute fortune and 2 nights out of the 3 there was nobody there that could pull a decent pint unless the cook came out of the Kitchen, the first morning we were there the chef was late and so was breakfast, when breakfast did come out the plates had been stacked to high under the heat lamps and I burnt my finger, that night we were looking to get a pizza and were told the pizza oven was broken, so we ordered Chicken burgers which took forever!!! One of the nights we got our onion rings ten minutes after we'd finished out meal....I wouldn't stay here again at all, the best part of it was the shower in the room, good power and hot. A far cry from a decent experience, if I'm ever back in Birmingham I'll not be staying here.

Been here 2 separate nights a week apart as work booked me here. 2 poor nights. The rooms are all in need of repair as damaged and chipped furniture and fittings. Party in the lobby so I had shouting and music until late on and woke up to no water in the rooms what so ever, no hot or cold. The front desk just said they were working on it. No apologies or timescale or anything. I can honestly say I hate this hotel

We booked a two night stay to see the stormzy concert & visit the jewellery quarter. When booking I knew that with the cost being so cheap we would be expecting a basic room, however the room was surprisingly spacious, the bed was comfortable & everything was cleaned to a high standard which cannot be said for other hotels we’ve stayed in previously. The only negative about the room was the pillows were harder than I’m used to, but they had left extra pillows in the room for us to use & I could just be a fussy sleeper. The staff were the best thing about our whole stay & if I could leave a 5 star review just for them I would! Gosia (and the gentleman that checked us in also, sorry we didn’t get your name!) was extremely kind to us on arrival & even remembered why we were staying & chatted to us about our night and wedding the next day. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind the whole time we were there so not sure why all the bad reviews about them! To sum up if you’re paying £25 for a room then be willing to accept you’re not staying at the ritz. But know that all the staff clearly work hard to keep the place looking fresh and clean for you during your stay & that deserves a mention. Thank you for our stay, would book again!

Worst budget hotel Ive ever stayed in, regardless of the many countries where I also stayed in a budget hotel. You can definitely see thay management have no interest in providing trained staff who actually understand that they are paid to work, not ignore customers. Staff are rude, lazy and loud.

Currently sitting in the dining area because all the keys have stopped working, and no one is here to help because they've all gone on break at the same time. They've left an emergency number up on the desk and left the emergency phone on the bar so no one can answer it. Offered free drinks for my girlfriend graduating so that's nice, but it doesn't make up for the staff potentially causing issues if someone had a medical necessity and couldn't get back to their room. The cook in the evening, Jeffrey, is a good person to have a chat to without the pressure of being a bother, he was under strain to get things done and cooked another pizza to make things right for us. Also found a new favourite vodka for my girlfriend. Thank you.

Absolutely disgusting place especially the room which had a window but when you open it your facing a brick wall it was like a prison sell. There was a sign in bathroom/toilet caution wet slippery floor as there is no bath mats but when having shower tge water went extremely hot hot so I had to shout for help as it was burning my skin as could not reach taps to switch off. The last night.of the stay was a big disaster due to loud noise and bagging doors would never go to a travel lodge like ever again Room no 128 beware rating 0.0

First time in birmingham, had an absolute traveljunk experience. Not worth the price. You have to pay for wifi. Roomservice is an absolute mess, they don't clean beds. Some of our towels were delivered dirty with a stains on them. The room has bad sound proofing, loud bangs of doors closing at night, loud neighbor romantical seagull noises, Children screaming in the morning, etc. Hotel cards kept logging out. On our stay of 6 nights we have had over 10 hotel cards which all stopped working after 1 to 3 hours. Windows don't open far, just a slight bit and there is no AC. So you'll be cooking like bacon bring swimming bands for your sweat. The Traveljunk experience is not recommended. The only good thing about this hotel is that the staff was very friendly. Not returning here.

Really nice location. Clean and fresh looking outside and in. Staff were so great, especially the manager (can't remember his name but began with a G.... I specifically looked so I could write a good review about him!) ... he let us check in early free of charge (likely because we were a sweaty mess from out journey!), he showed us the surrounding areas, taking us outside to show where to get a taxi from, where the tram was and local amenities. All staff were fab , lending us iron and ironing board multiple times! Bar reasonably priced. Rooms clean, fans in rooms. We didn't have breakfast but it's unlimited for just short of a tenner. Dominoes/costa/other takeaway nearby. Easy to walk/bus/tram to centre.

Great location but could do with some maintenance. Certain staff great Polish receptionist, (unfortunately didn't get her name) Fayez & Jeffery, but others abrupt (housekeeping supervisor). If possible don't get room on concourse/walkway especially at weekend as probably will be disturbed by people outside.

Staff were helpful. Very spacious location. Close to city center. However, we drove past it once. It is quite easy to miss the side entrance for the hotel as it also is public car park.

Loved the neatness and cleanness of the room. The staff are lovely, and the manager is patient with me. The location is clever because it is near to the cinema, rock climbing and bowling etc. Which it is have plenty of activities fir the children. Also when you walk to the past right and you see a lot of restaurants. The breakfast service is impressive because the children was misbehaving but the staff give strong, firm voice to tell stop playing. They are professional đź‘Ź. The food are decent and check the guest they okay. I am happy.

Booked a family room last week , was bit shocked to see the room quality. Staffs are kind and helping, in terms of neatness, quality of rooms etc should be improved.

Our stay was not great; the food was poor, the hotel requires general upgrading and there was no running water after the Fire Alarm was triggered. However, the staff were truly amazing, in particular Fahmeeda who dealt with the issues exceptionally well and with a smile; outstanding.

Lovely place to stay. The staff make it perfect for you. Especially the manager who couldn't of done more for us. He went above and beyond. He even posted our little boys Teddy that we left!! Room was perfect for a family of 4. Clean and tidy

The location is absolutely great. Right at the heart of Birmingham City Centre, with a cinema, pub, a casino and other sites of attraction around. However, my first night in Travelodge was terrible as I couldn't sleep throughout the night. There was this group of extremely noisy and loud group that kept banging doors, singing and running down the hallway. Unfortunately, the walls aren't sound proof and we could hear everything they did. I did report to the reception and they apologised and gave us free breakfast. The staff were really so lovely and so nice, however I feel they should be particular about ensuring that everyone sticks to the rule of a noiseless zone, especially once it's bedtime, and enforce this for the sake of others.

Excellent experience at the Travelodge. Brilliant location within the plaza. I like how the hotel is only one floor, so as a large group, we were all next to each other which was perfect. Our stay was during the heatwave: the lobby was ACed but the rooms not. There was a fan provided which was appreciated. We were looked after by gokhan, trigan and roye who provided excellent friendly service throughout our stay. Although parking was chargeable for this location, it was convenient and affordable (at a nearby car park). The room keys were hit and miss when trying to enter doors but you work out how to use them. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a lack of plug sockets in the room. However, For the price and location for this Travelodge, I was extremely satisfied with my visit. This is one of the nicer Travelodges around for a budget hotel. Thank you for having us.

My husband booked two rooms one double and one family because there were three of us. We were quite shocked when we enter the double room and find the duvet cover dirty and to make matters worst there was a old dirty man boxer on the top of the closet in the family room. We were very disappointed to know that we were there for three nights and was not offered room service not even once On the other the staffs were pleasant and helpful.

Booked and paid the deposit. Turned up quite late after working all day to discover they had given my room away! Offered me a room 3 miles away and I didn't have transport. Left me totally stranded. The single worst hotel experience I have had. Don't deserve the one star.

The staff were lovely Very friendly and attended to all requests promptly! The staff member names Trigun in particular was very helpful to my entire party of guests. Fantastic, will definitely use this branch again and recommend to all x

The rooms aren't that great in this travelodge, I've definitely stayed in better hotels, However this was only for one night as I had a concert In Birmingham city centre so this was handy for me, Staff were lovely, Only downside is the rooms no A/C in mine and they're quite small for a double room.

  • 5/5 Zara P. 1 year ago on Google
Had a great stay at this Travelodge! I was in Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games, and the staff went above and beyond to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. They upgraded my room as I was staying the full week, and gave lots of great recommendations. They went out of their way to chat and make me feel at home - especially being 8 months pregnant! Definitely recommend.

You get what you pay for, rooms were fairly clean and stayed for a night on two separate occasions. On one side of the hotel it was fairly noisy and my bed was very hard and didn't get much sleep because there is a bar below. The second time I stayed it was much better. Breakfast was good with the usual, I also had dinner which was a bit of a hit or miss it seemed that there was not much available and chef didn't have what he needed Desert was really good The staff were really nice and making the most of the limitations of the hotel.
