This is a neat site that shows why we now call mausoleums after massolous. It's got plenty to see for about an hour and cost is cheap for entry. Has exhibit hall and can wander around and touch the stones and climb around so that's nice. Very sad it was raided by people many years ago to fortify the castle on the coast not far away. Worth a stop to see one of the seven ancient wonders ruins in Bodrum.

It's a ruin, so there's not a lot left to see, but it's a piece of history, so if you like history, why not . It's a 70TL entrance fee. Information boards are too detailed, that it was difficult to stand in the heat and read it all, but also, ideally, you want the information to be easier to digest. Simplified to the key points to whet one's appetite to learn more at a later time. It was our first stop of three historic sites for the morning. The other two were the amphitheatre and Myndos gate. All walking distances from each other.

It's one of the seven wonders of the world and if you ever come by, you should definitely spare half an hour or so to take a look around. Most of the building has been destroyed during an earthquake and the rest of the blocks were used to build the Bodrum castle but with the help of the map and a visual model (inside the museum part which is tiny but if you have time to read the stories they are very insightful) you can imagine the glorious building there was. I gave 3 stars because there was some rubbish in the grounds and there wasn't any coffee place or such inside so you can spend time there and take it all in. Still, it is a beautiful sight and cultural experience so I would recommend to see it at least once.

A pretty insignificant little site. It’s hard to imagine it was once the site of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. That was before, this is now. I think the winder was taken apart and used by crusader knights to build their castle. The movie was too soft and I could hardly hear it. Small basic mosaic and a few broken columns laying around. If you have any interest in archaeology then get to Ephesus. It is possibly the best site in Turkey, and Luke all sites in Turkey it’s overpriced, but in this caste it’s worth the trip and the ticket price

Sadly not worth it. I was thrilled to visit one of the 7 wonders but couldn't help but be disappointed by the site. Very few ruins are left and it is hard to imagine the sheer size of the Mausoleum. There are almost no explanations and the ruins were kind of just... left there. The entry is 40lira so if you happen to pass by it is still worth the visit but sadly the wonder has lost its interest. Props to the sleeping cat though.

For what is left of it, the museum does a great job of displaying what was once one of the 7 wonders of the world. Quaint, historically rich, and quite moving.

There is no big installations wich will help you to imagine what was there. You will see just peaces of old construction and video. We visited this place near 11am - it was extremely hot. There is no place with conditioner at this museum, so we could spend only 20 minutes here.

The remains of one of the seven wonders of the world, accompanied by a short exposition about the history of the monument. It offers an interesting experience right in the center of Bodrum.

(Translated by Google) I have long dreamed of seeing one of the wonders of the ancient world, and drove specially from Marmaris by minibuses for three hours with a change. Moreover, I bought a package tour in Ukraine to Marmaris in order to go to Bodrum to the ruins of the tomb of King Mavsol (Halikarnak mausoleum) and float to Rhodes, where the Colossus stood (Rodos lighthouse). In the heat, of course, it is difficult to see the ruins. And you also need to have imagination to imagine what happened here centuries ago. I looked at the remains of the ancient columns and I was so sad that this wonder of the world came to us in such a destroyed form. I remember the shady street with an ancient fountain, along which I walked from the embankment. Probably, that is exactly what she was and five hundred years ago. She felt authentic.

One of the three main touristic highlights of the Bodrum, if you are interested in the ancient history of the region. Not very big, so expect so spend max 30-40 min here, depending on if you will reed a few info shields in the museum or watch the movie. There a lot of chairs if you are tired.

No it's not Instagram worthy but this monument was ranked the seventh wonder of the world by the ancients, not because of its size or strength but because of the beauty of its design and how it was decorated with sculpture or ornaments. Although you won't see the sculptures or many ornaments, the museum does an excellent job piecing together the many phases this site went through and how in played a significant part in ancient history. The Mausoleum overlooked the city of Halicarnassus for many years. It was untouched when the city fell to Alexander the Great in 334 BC and still undamaged after attacks by pirates in 62 and 58 BC. It stood above the city's ruins for sixteen centuries. Then a series of earthquakes shattered the columns and sent the bronze chariot crashing to the ground. By AD 1404, only the base of the Mausoleum was still recognizable. Research done by archeologists in the 1960s shows that long before the knights came, grave robbers had dug a tunnel under the grave chamber, stealing its contents. Also the museum states that it is most likely that Mausolus and Artemisia were cremated, so only an urn with their ashes was placed in the grave chamber. This explains why no bodies were found. 25TL to enter. Spend 30 minutes here. Watch the video. Learn the history and love story. Then walk around to see what's left. I recommend walking across the street to see the amphitheater next and then the castle if you haven't seen it yet. Bonus > Focus on the relief above, right after you exit the video area. The story plays out what looks like to be war but is said to be an argument between a man and women.

One of the seven wonders of old world is something that everyone should visit. Site is organized and arranged nicely, it costs 14 tly(little less then 2 euros) to enter. They follow all COVID-19 precautionary measures, so it is safe to visit.

Even though it once was one of the wonders of the world, it didn't really fulfill my expectations. There is actually not much to see. No renovation was made over the years and all the ruins are left neglected. There is a digital exebition which you can learn about the history of mausoleum. Entance is cheap. That's pretty much only reason to visit if you have time.

I was on a day trip from Kalymnos, Greece to Turgutreis/Bodrum Turkey (in August 2019) and this Mausoleum was my main to-do during the 5-6 hours we had here (we also saw the Bodrum Castle and the Ancient Theater, besides some shopping, meals and sweets). I was surprised that the ruins were just barely a few rocks laying around - somehow, I expected it to be built up a little more. The "Exhibition Hall" provided helpful information, an interesting video and small model of what the tomb might have looked like thousands of years ago. Though there isn't a lot to see, I would recommend a trip here just to experience such a famous spot of history - the only place we can walk amongst the ruins of one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World (except for the Pyramids, which are still intact).

Although it may be a historically special place in Türkiye, it is not a valuable historical museum with unprepared materials. I think visiting this place is a waste of time and money, so I recommend not visiting.

A gem in the middle of the city. Very close by, up the hill there is the antique theater which has the beautiful view of the whole city and the bay. Good to visit them one after the other to dive into the history of the area.

(Translated by Google) Priceless historic site. Unfortunately there are few ruins and we can only see the drainage system of the mausoleum. Despite this, there is an adequate visitation structure, with a small exhibition and model. The entrance costs 14 lire and the visit lasts about 30 minutes. It is very close to the Marina. Much better than the other of the seven wonders of the ancient world located in Turkey, the temple of Artemis that does not even have a visitation structure.

It's wonderful to be in a place where one of the ancient 7 wonders of the world once stood. Entrance is 25 trl, which will give you access to site and small exhibition plus video tutorial. You can walk around those ancient stones and see where the tomb was. It was destroyed in series of earthquakes from 12th to 15th century. Some of the stones were used to build Bodrum Castle. Place is well kept with clean toilets and there is a shop across the street to buy water. Close to it is an amphitheater with free entrance.

Very inexpensive, self guided look at one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The history and remains from 24 centuries are sombering for anyone interested in the Hellenistic period. Allow for one hour unless you are a scholar.

One of the seven ancient wonders is now in ruins but you still can visit it. Take the time to read the information panels in the gallery, the model, and look at the examples they have to give you an idea of the scale. Don't miss the friezes mounted up high in the gallery. When walking the ruins start by walking around the top, this is the perimeter of the mausoleum. Descend down the shaded area and see the drainage system and tomb. Finish by walking back up the stairs to the exhibition gallery.

Yes, it’s almost all ruins, but it’s one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and for 25tl(around a pound something) a short and interesting visit. Small indoor museum, and a tiny stall selling cheap museum gifts and memorabilia. All doable in less than an hour. Highly recommend walking a few mins uphill to the free to enter Antik amphitheatre. Turn left as you exit then immediate right uphill, then left on the main road and it’s opposite. Stunning views of the sea and lovely pictures!

It's humbling to stand in the very site where in 351 BC Artemisia completed one of the 7 Wonders of the World to entomb her beloved late brother-husband. The small museum has a good exhibition and the remaining artifacts give a sense of the magnificence of the stone structure and its sculptures One day perhaps they will try to recreate a small section to help people to understand better the scale of the structure, and the ornateness of the decoration.
