Great place to go biking, walking and or running! Be ready to take your camera out and see large herds of dear all over the park. I must have seen 40 or 50 deer the one time as was there! Will surely be coming buck again. Pun intended. 😊

Beautiful, well kept trails with very informative markers, plenty of benches, and many shaded portions. We love that there is a picnic area with grills.

2.5 mile walk on a paved path. You can start from several locations, but I like to start by the pond at the shuttered Oak Forest Hospital. Lots of wildflowers and some denser woods. You pass through the old Potter's Field. It was the graveyard for the Poor Farm and Cook County. They estimate 90,000 are buried in the fields, so not a great area if you are superstitious. Also was a Native American camp ground. The hospital is huge with many buildings, all unused.

I never knew so much about history existed so close to my home. Informational signs taught me a ton about the areas spooky past.

Beautiful and quiet path to walk with a lot of history. A little upsetting to see the massive amount of shotgun shells in the corner of the parking lot. As for the rest of the path, it is pretty clean and quiet.

This landscape has potential: The lake, surrounded by prairie, is beautiful when observed from the right angles. Unfortunately, the invasive species here vastly outnumber native plants, probably 200 to 1. I found the experience to be mostly disappointing and rather depressing. A handful of Asclepias verticillata plants were blooming near the lake margin, just beyond the decapitating reach of the lawnmower.

Not a bad place to hike, but the trails are not as shaded here as previous FPCC sites we've been to. I would suggest visiting this place during cooler times (spring, autumn, winter) or when there is significant breeze. Lake and boardwalk were beautiful. Not a bad place to have a picnic as they have roofed patios at the west entrance to the preserve.

The 1.7mi trail is really nice and mostly flat. There are regular sightings of deer, geese and various types of birds. I'm sure the birding area is nice for sightings. There's also a few signs that give history of the area.

👍 It's not as creepy and interesting as it was - now maintained and landscaped, grass cut weekly, no more wildflowers or vines. Some very rude tour companies have tours on many weekends and act like they own the place. Park across in Rubio Woods. The path to the cemetery is West of the big cell tower...
