There is a lot of historical places in Barbados, and this is an important one. The museum tells an interesting story of Bajan jews. I learned a lot during my visit. You can also see a very old mikva and jewish cemetery.

The Nidhe Israel Synagogue is an absolute must see when visiting Barbados. The Synagogue, museum, Mikvah, and cemetery should not be missed. This is living history at its finest. The Synagogue continues to be alive and used.

Small but well done museum, old synagogue, and mikveh. Gives a great insight into early Judaism in the Caribbean. Friendly and helpful docent. Take the time to view the images and inscriptions on the old grave stones.

Really, really interesting history of Jewry on island and its pivotal role in bringing sugar technology to Barbados. I had no idea before this visit.

Fascinating! Definitely a place to check out while in Barbados. Learned a lot about the history of the Jewish people in Barbados. The excavated Mikveh and restored synagogue were highlights. I found the museum a little lacking, I would have loved to learn a little more in depth about the history, rather than a general overview. However the tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us more information we wouldn't have overwise learnt. The entrance is quite hard to find, definitely map out your route before setting off!

What a fabulous historic place to visit! Our private walking tour guide Karen from Ruthann Discovery Tours was fabulous. She was very enthusiastic about her countries history.

I'm not Jewish (or anything) but this is undoubtedly the most historic place in Barbados, lovingly preserved (rejuvenated) and a very Inter and worthwhile visit. I was surprised to find that so few tourists visit - they're missing something important

incredible -- we were lucky to get a tour by a member who happened to be there. Oldest synagogue in the Americas and nearly destroyed after abandonment, only to be preserved and celebrated by the Barbados government. American expats now keep it going. Nice, quick tour history museum on site to get all the relevant info if you don't have a tour guide.

A whole new experience in the history of Judaism in the new world. The 2nd oldest temple in the western hemisphere is brimming with authenticism. It is still n active synogogue with cemetery markers, many in Heɓrew.

Interesting to know the contributions Jewish made in the history of Barbados. This history shared here is not the typical tale we would learn in most books and school curriculum.

Lots of information, well laid out. Worth the side detour if you're interested in the Judaic history of the island

This is one of the most beautiful and memorable places I have ever visited. Regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs, this is the oldest synagogue in the western hemisphere with an incredible history. I have taken self-guided tours countless times with visitors and locals alike, which are loved by everybody. But when I finally scheduled a special tour for a Saturday for special guests who were visiting Barbados for the first time (a quick stopover on a cruise) we learned more about the Jews in Barbados than we could’ve ever imagined. This was all thanks to Neal and his incredible knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching others. If you want to have this unique experience, sure to schedule this in advance with Neal, or you could also do a self guided tour which includes the on-site museum. Either way, you will you will learn things you would’ve never imagined as part of Jewish, Barbados and Caribbean history.

They missed some historical details. Jews were driven from Brazil and Surinam because the slaves revolted against them. Also, how Jews wound up on Barbados was also due to in large part because of the Atlantic slave trade.

What a history lesson it was. Founding the mitvah and the whole jews from Brazil elevating the sugar industry and helped Barbados to thrive... I mean wow.

Amazing experience. Loved the museum and blown away by the mikvah which had until 2008 been buried under a car park! Worth a visit.
