Since the Colmslie McDonalds opened we’ve never had good experience. The food is sloppily put together, not fresh & the time you spend in line is beyond a joke. The employees are regularly rude, arrogant and lazy, and have zero pride in the quality of food they send out or the service they provide. This image is a perfect example of how they prepare food. This was taken on Thursday, 5 January 2023 at approx 1:40pm, when there were no other customers in the drive-thru. The drinks are always overfilled, so on the drive home soft drink starts seeping out the lid and you end up with a sticky mess all over your centre console. The chips are often cold & under salted or under cooked and floppy. This kind of large-scale bad service and food quality has to come from somewhere and can only be attributed to poor management. I hope that someone high up at McDonalds reads this review and takes action to re-train all the managers (and staff)… or as a last resort replace them with managers who take pride in their job. I now avoid the Colmslie McDonalds and go to Cannon Hill because they uphold the McDonalds food standards and service & I can at least know I’ll get exactly what I pay for.

Terrible first experience (6/8/22). Waited 20mins at the drive through intercom and was never served. Then proceeded into the dine-in area since drive through service was not responsive. Walked into dine-in area and there was no clean tables to sit in as they all had rubbished on them from previous customers. Asked one of the employees to clean a table but she didn't clean it until she brought our meal out. Even when the meal was brought out they managed to still get our order wrong. What a way to make a first impression. 👎🏾

Worst possible experience. I've been told for the past two nights that they don't serve till three in the morning, however the uber drivers were getting their deliveries on time. I returned again after 40 minutes, and the answer was the same. Three girls, including the one who said she was not serving, were recording tik tok videos . dancing while getting paid for it. Even so, is this professional? Do you do business that way? Now, I find it difficult to think that they were truly abstaining from serving or that they chose not to because tik tok was more important.

Visited this McDonald's on 9/9/23 and was extremely disappointed. Despite more than five staff on duty, I waited over 20 minutes for my order, forcing me to take it away and causing me to be late for work. To make matters worse, my Double Quarter Pounder was replaced with a dry cheeseburger, and the chicken nugget sauce was all wrong. Staff seemed more interested in chatting and laughing than serving customers. This was the worst McDonald's experience I've ever had. Please change owner or close this one down.

The owners really need to get on top of this place. Feels understaffed most of the time. They essentially ignore customers at the counter when the drive-thru is busy. Bins usually overflowing on to the floor and tables left uncleaned for long periods. One afternoon you could hear one of the male kitchen staff swearing loudly over and over again. Compared to some of the other McDonalds in the area, this one just feels seriously neglected and unprofessional.

Twice I’ve used this McDonald’s drive through because it’s closer to work & both times what a let down. Service was poor and no caramel in lattes. But they are great in charging me extra for the caramel. Doesn’t even deserve a star!!

SO slow. Only 1 person working the whole maccas at 5:30. Fast food is supposed to be fast. Took around 20 minutes to get order. And frappes machine broken. Disappointed

I’m sorry to pile on but this place is so inconsistent. It really lacks senior leadership at busy times. Service is consistently ordinary and food is OK - terrible. The chips served this evening (5:30) were way past their best before. They should not be serving those chips as they smelt and tasted off. And of course they’re always 1/4 full. When the kids say “not this one” you know it’s bad.

Slowest drive thru I've ever been to. Not even busy and it just takes forever. I used to work at McDonald's, and we hustled. These guys are the opposite, they must be half asleep in there. Not even busy and taking 15+ minutes to get through drive through. PARK CARS IF YOU'RE WAITING ON STUFF! Absurd trash McDonald's, get rid of this store, would literally be quicker to just drive up the road to the Cannon Hill one.

So first of all I went in there and ordered big and they forgot sauce on a few of my burgers and they said that I could come in and they would replace it. Since I’ve been working, I totally forgot about it a few days ago and now I called them up and asked for my replacement lady was downright rude to me so for her verbal abuse towards me, I will be personally taking that manager to civil court… Honestly, I haven’t had a bad experience until this lady verbally abusing me over the phone because I didn’t have a name for my replacement now which she didn’t take..:

Waited half an hour for food, fries were cold when food was finally given to us, and the restaurant was the most disgusting/filthy space I had ever seen. Bins overflowing, majority tables were dirty. There seemed to be little to no drive or emphasis on ensuring a clean space for diners. Floors were disgusting. It was shocking tbh.

Slowest McDonald's I've ever been to. Always seem to be out of something: orange juice, eggs (?), the frappe machine is constantly broken. They take forever to take your order at the speaker so the line gets big sometimes unnecessarily. They definitely need to work on their service and planning.

Just been through the drive through at 2:20am only to be told that I couldn't order anything due to them doing a system reset. So I decided to go to the next store in cannon hill only to be told the same thing. McDonald's you need to change your operating hours to closed if I can't order food! Disappointing

The first customer of the day. Felt terribly sorry for the young man working there by himself. A 13 minute wait for the massive order of one sausage and egg McMuffin. I am only giving it two stars for his calm manner and hard work under pressure. If you are time poor and on the way to work avoid.

This is the second time I've been to this McDonald's and the second time they've got my other wrong. The first time I asked for a double QTR pounder meal and only got a QTR pounder. The second time I asked for the same thing with a large chocolate sundae and they never gave me one. Honestly if you're looking for the wiser, this is it.

Worst McDonald’s drive thru on planet earth. Got told to leave the last time I pulled up by staff just after midnight and was given no reason as to why. Staff were rude and dismissive. On top of this, I’ve never had my food ready on time and always have to wait much longer than any other drive thru. Often get orders wrong and never give me extra pickles when I order them! Worth the drive to Cannon Hill, the chips are always better there and staff are generally amicable.

After spending 25 minutes stuck in the Mcdonalds Cannon Hill drive thru, two friendly workers turned my night around at Morningside. I told them what had happened at the other store and they were able to dicount my meal as an apology for my inconvenience and brought out my hot meal super quickly. Big thank you to them and will be using this store instead of Cannon Hill from now on.

Staff are more interested in talking to each other than working. Coffee was barely warm after sitting for around 10 minutes while staff talked and joked with each other instead of preparing our toastie.

Terrible 8 staff standing around doing nothing including manager. Deep deep lines in drive through and all because the junior did not know how to fill up sunday machine ! We asked for a refund after 20 min of nothing happening.
