This small mom & pop place has been here for many years. They do have limited hours, but so worth the stop. The food is so good. Homemade cut fries not frozen.Take out or stay. Like I said, small, maybe 5 or 6 tables. BRING CASH!

What a cool place!!! Tiny little no frills place where the owner does the cooking and does he ever do a good job! Also could tell they have a good following just based on how many people walked in while I was there. Had the steak sandwich and it was delicious and the fries were perfect!!! This will be a go to spot for me from now on!

The stars of the show here are the steak sandwich and the fries. Incredible char flavor on the steak. Most people get their steak sandwiches with the grilled onions but I am not an onion guy. The hot dog was also pretty darn tasty. Both the flavor of the dog and fries makes this better than Gene and Jude's in River Grove (Yeah, I said it). Mr. D's is a Montclare institution for a reason.

Had to try another Steak sandwich place and this one did not disappoint. We ordered the steak sandwich and shish Kabob sandwich. Both were really good and the fries are the bomb, Will definitely be back! Came name and it was DELICIOUS once again

Mr D's is simply AMAZING for lack of better word. Every bite was hot, well-seasoned, fresh, and made with soul! It's clear that the owners pour their hearts into each & every meal, and they are so kind! Everyone who comes in knows them by name & they run like a well oiled machine! Great charbroiled eats. Kabob sandwich is simple and delicious. Fresh cut fries are perfect. Friendly family with a bare basic setup- charbroiler, deep fryer, and small prep station. Just a block away from The Brickyard. The quality blows away any of the fastfood joints nearby. Small and inexpensive menu.

Also my go to when I'm near this area. One of the best steak sammys in Chicago. Fresh cut fries are amazing. Mom n pop and son shop always supurb. Tomatoes and onions used are always fresh n plenty.

Great steak sandwich and well done fries

I have passed by this place often over the years and knew they had to be good because I always saw ppl going in and out. Finally got to try it last week and was recommended to try to the steak sandwich. Got that with fries and man was it good. While it was not a lot of food, I still could not finish it all. I will be back to try the shish kabobs & burgers. Cash only!!! The service was good and quick, treated us like family. It is small on the inside, only 3 tables.

I feel like a committed a crime by not having come here before. I have lived in nearby neighborhoods all my life. I would often drive by and think “I’ll stop by some day” but haven’t. That all changed a few weeks ago. I tried the shish-kabob and fries. Fantastic. Can’t wait to go back and try more.
