The Fortress of Vlad the Impaler On 6 General Candiano Popescu Street, close to Carol I Park, there is the Impaler’s Castle, a real architectural jewel. It was built in 1906, when the 40th anniversary of King Carol I was celebrated and the National Exhibition was organized. On September 20, 2004 the Fortress became the headquarters of the Office for Commemoration of Nation’s Heroes. The building is classified in the Historical Monuments List under the name "The Fortress of Tepes Voda"

The building is attractive, the location is near the Carol park but, unfortunately is closed to visitors, even in workingdays. This kind of place should be opened,at least partially, to visitors.

This is essentially a cool looking office building. It is not open for tours or inside viewing. A tall chain link fence obstructs pictures that you might try to take. If you're in the park, go ahead and take a look though.

Too bad it can rarely be visited (only twice yearly)

Beautiful building

This is a modern replica of a Vlad Tepes castle, Poenari Castle in the Arges Valley. The replica was built in 1906.

An early 20th century recreation of Poenari Castle (Vlad Dracula's Castle). Unfortunately transformed into the headquarters of a military piblic institution and thus impossible to visit or explore.

Very intersting old building place nicely in top of the Carol Park,like a watchtower.

The castle was closed for renovation and no info about that was available
