Every meal I had here was super delicious and made with a lot of creativity. A must try every time I come here is the Goulash Soup. It is just the best. The service is very kind and professional and the library ambience makes it a very cosy place.

(Translated by Google) Very, very worthwhile. Top restaurant with very refined dishes that really make you happy. And what a ministry. When in doubt about which wine you want, the waiter comes to the table with both bottles and you can taste to come to the best choice. The concept is very refreshing: every now and then the menu is adjusted with a book as inspiration. This time: Lord of the rings by Tolkien. To be repeated. A winner in Budapest.

5 stars across the board. This was the last meal on my one week trip to Budapest and it was, without question, the best meal in the city! The atmosphere was incredibly charming, the service was exceptional, and the food was FANTASTIC! I did not have time to get the tasting menu but wish I did, because the food I had was so good, I would have loved to try more!

I was certain I had already shared my love for this extraordinary restaurant, but it seems I hadn't, and I simply can't keep this gem a secret any longer! Nestled in the vibrant Pest side of Budapest, this place has quickly become one of our all-time favorites. A word to the wise – make sure to reserve a table in advance; it's definitely worth the planning! The moment you step inside, you're transported into a world where literature meets culinary art. The book-themed ambiance is nothing short of enchanting, creating an atmosphere that's both sophisticated and cozy. Each visit feels like a new chapter in a delightful gastronomic story. Now, let's talk about the food – "amazing" barely does it justice. Every dish is a masterpiece, blending traditional flavors with innovative twists that surprise and delight the palate. The chefs here are true artists, and their passion for food shines through in every bite. And the wine pairing – oh, the wine pairing! It's evident that each selection is thoughtfully chosen to complement the dishes, enhancing the flavors and elevating the entire dining experience. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just enjoy a good glass, you're in for a treat. In summary, if you're in Budapest and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this is the place to go. Exceptional food, enchanting themes, and impeccable service – all reasons why I'm giving this restaurant an easy 5 stars. Don't miss out on this culinary treasure in Budapest!

Highly recommend this place if you want a different, amazing, cheerful night. The book theme was perfectly executed. The wines are all Hungarian, and very well paid and presented. The service is the best I have had in ages! We enjoyed it thoroughly.

This place is completely magical. The food is fantastic, and so much though goes into every dish. The waiting staff are brilliant and talk you through the story with each tasting course. We loved every second and would come back to Budapest just to go again.

(Translated by Google) I've only been here twice before, both times I've tasted the Harry Potter menu and totally fell in love with it. The concept is very good, the food is beautiful, creative and last but not least delicious. The service is attentive, the atmosphere and the decor are well placed. One of my favorite restaurants.

What a lovely concept to use a book as the inspiration for a menu. The story in our case was Winnie the Pooh. We had a wonderful evening from start to finish - the dinner was excellent. They really love to cook here and are very experienced in their art. The atmosphere, the guests, everything was just perfect - even the service was discreet and friendly. We recommend this experience to all guests - not just reading aficionados. :) Thank us later. Ps. I would give 6 stars if I could.

Flavours are there. Complex flavours and well plated food. Hospitality was also top notch, atmosphere was relaxed and they have a subtle fragrance in the air which was nice. Menu changes with a story book every fortnight. Winnie the Pooh inspired the menu when we visited.

So good we came twice in a 4 night stay in Budapest. The colours, techniques, textures and very well balanced flavours complemented the wine pairing perfectly in the evening. The service is exceptional, the story telling of the tasting menu is very special and meaningful. Returning for lunch was a excellent choice. The foie gras makes a tasty brunch and the rabbit was so tasty and light. I could go on and on... and on about all the other dishes but you should really try it for yourself. What an amazing experience, worth every penny of thier reasonable prices. Very excited for you and the future of the restaurant. Thank you

Fantastic restaurant! We went ahead and ordered the book menu. The book was The Time Traveler's Wife. I was a bit nervous as all dishes seemed to be out of my comfort zone. However, food was exquisite, the dishes so creative. Wine pairings for each dish were really good as well. Service was great as they give you a background for each dish and explain why they are pairing each wine with said dish.

We dined here and had some dishes from the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone menu and some from the "normal" menu. Norbert was amazing! The dedication to a theme was amazing - check out the egg! Great wine on offer too. The dessert was more savoury than sweet which was different but that's a personal taste thing!

Restaurant which looks like a bookstore and who chooses a book and writer to create their menu around it. It has the 4 Gs: Great place, great service, great menu and great idea!! We had the Willy Wonka Menu and it was amazing 😍! Loved how they told the story and the analogies between the dishes and the food! The food was really nice and innovative. The waiters were amazing and super nice, taking care of EVERY detail. The Cranberry Lemonade (outside the menu) was freshly made, sugar free and really good. I totally recommend the place. Of course it's not cheap as its fine dining but it was totally worth it.

What an experience! We were with 3 and went for the chefs menu, which was phenomenal. The service was fast, really gentle and sweet! Our waiter even came to our table to say good bye when he went home. The food was amazing as well!! I would say this restaurant is one of the more expensive options, but you do get your moneys worth. It is a whole experience :) would definitely recommend when visiting Budapest!

Cute place trying to be fine-dining but the food and wine pairing doesn’t live up to the expectations. Concept, service and plating are very good (4 stars). The food itself was mediocre at best and the wine pairing didn’t complement the food at all (2 stars). We had the Lord of the Rings menu: the Gorgonzola starter was creative and surprisingly light which was positive. The mackerel that followed was served with a huge amount of potatoes and was overall a bit plain. The rabbit tasted good but was dry and the vegetables that came along didn’t match. The palette cleanser ice cream was way too heavy and creamy - it felt like a dessert. The main course (tenderloin) was overcooked (almost well done) and even had a bit of a burnt crust. The crisps that came along with the beef were soggy and chewy in the sauce and mash (again potato). The chocolate dessert was very heavy in orange sour and sweet sauce and the sweet wine wasn’t a good pairing either as it’s an overkill. Wine pairing: the local Hungarian wines we tried in some of the wine bars in Budapest were all better than the ones chosen for our pairing.

Definitely a must if you're in Budapest. Even if you are clueless about the book they choose for the week/month, the food is amazing - however for me the main selling point of the place is their wine selection and the staff's expertise. They really do have the best wines in the country and are more than happy to give you adhoc tasting tours with tons of information. Five stars for literally everything.

Very nice service, efficient and not at all intrusive. The 5 course Harry Potter menu was delicious, especially the soup, venison and dessert were excellent. It was fanstastic! We got 1 first course, 2 main dishes, 1 desert and 2 glasses of wine. Paid around 28,000HUF. The taste of everything was totally worth the price. The service was also excellent, the waiter was so kind and informing about the theme, which was Hunger Games. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

We were looking for a good place to dine out and found this gem. If you're looking for a special place with a special menu and super amazing staff - you must visit. We loved the Oriental Express special menu - The Killing Knife (Duck) and Seasonal Risotto left us speechless.

Take a nice cozy location. Fill it with a spoon of friendly staff members and a skilled chef. Select only prime quality food over quantity. Mix it with abudant creativity and you'll have this great restaurant in the heart of Budapest. As many other reviews are pointing out, here you'll have a great experience where food and novels are coupled together. Every now and then the themed literary menu will change, and it will be build around the selected novel. Every dish will be served with an explanation of what you're about to taste and how the food is connected the a specific chapter/moment of the novel. Nothing short than having one of the best night in Budapest. Ps. If you are curious check the current menu and better to reserve a table in advance.

It was a long day in Budapest. After jumping on and off the bus and walking around for many miles, we just wanted to sit and rest. We were looking for a nice restaurant to have dinner and go straight to bed. That's how we got to konyvbar&restaurant. I have to say that if I had known what I know now, I would have better planned my plan to include a visit to the restaurant. As soon as you enter the place, you notice its uniqueness. The walls are covered with books that give a sense of curiosity and anticipation of the future. The dishes that will arrive will lead you on a surprising and exciting culinary journey. The meticulously prepared and incredibly delicious dishes replaced all the pains of the day with feelings of pleasure and joy. Before that, not least the guy who served us with attention to every detail, a smile and exceptional service intelligence. do not miss!!!

We had the vegetarian tasting menu and my, did we enjoy it! The imagination and seasoning from the kitchen were out of this world and I can't wait for the next visit. Awesome experience! We got the Polar Express menu and it was beautifully executed and delicious, presented with a short description of the part of the book each course represents. Wine pairings were also excellent, and each wine also got its own story. Will definitely come back next time we're in Budapest.

This place is a 💎 gem. It’s a bit off the path, but well worth it! We dropped by for lunch and loved the food, service, and ambiance. Goulash was tasty, the “ceviche” yummy, and they totally cheated on the rabbit by wrapping it in bacon. (Really, everything was excellent.). Eat here.

It looks like a library but don’t be fooled this is an exquisite restaurant. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is warm but it’s the food that impresses most : simply delicious I had to try the goulash and I must say this one made honour to this famous soup. Followed a perfectly cooked duck while my friend had the trout with vegetables - he loved it too. To end we shared a trio of chocolates to die for. Definitely an address to recommend

(Translated by Google) There is always a book-related menu, what is Eat. Pray. We were on a love occasion. We took up space, though so under the virus it seemed unnecessary. The wines were delicious, the food was quickly prepared and the service was good. The only negative I would say is the pre-marked service fee, which is 12% here. If I compare last month’s duck breast and lamb ribs with today’s chickpea curry and shimpy crab skewers, the menu today is a big disappointment. The goods were the same. Done scam !!! But the waiter is super. You get a star all the time because we got to know it. (Original) Felülmúlhatatlan a mai pincér is. Nem lehet jobban kiszolgálni, szuper volt. This restaurant is an absolut gem. If I could I would give it a sixth star. The menu is very special and I highly (!) recommend going for the well-thought-through five course meal that is dedicated to a book (Little Women in my case). You can additionally choose to order the wine that goes with each course (would recommend). Definitely look them up in advance so you can read the book (they change it a few times a year), as this will make your dinner experience even more special. The staff is very polite and professional and will explain the thoughts that went into the creation of each dish. There's, however, also the option to choose from their regular menu. The restaurant itself is very cozy and not very big which made us feel comfortable being there. Added pictures of 5 course meal (I forgot to take a picture of the entree as I was too hungry.)

(Translated by Google) Friendly welcome. Original cuisine as well as the place. You are surrounded by books as if you were eating in the middle of a library. The duck is excellent served with mashed orange carrots and roasted peanuts. The set is great. Very good fish too, unfortunately served with floury potatoes, which was not great. To try. (Original) Accueil sympathique. A essayer.
