I would recommend you avoid this place. The chicken paprika was bland and not what we expected. The noodles were more like gnocchi. If you do happen to order, please pay in cash . The exchange rate on the card machine was 315ft to a pound a hundred under to what it should be,415ft, and please check the service charge.

Lovely little bistro in a beautiful section of the Castle district. Serves traditional Traditional Hungarian food that is well presented. Nice beer and wine menu. Servers at knowledgable and speak excellent English. They have English menus. The setting is so quaint and personable. Food was delicious. Ambiance was charming. Highly recommend. Our hotel suggested it and they were on the mark.

Really too expensive compared to the quality of the food, which is low. They serve a plate with chicken and noodles that are not noodles actually, because it is just over cooked pasta. The waiter got offended because we decided not to leave the tip (they didn't get the order correctly and the service was poor). I suggest to avoid this place. We paid 5€ for 500ml water, just to give you an example. Crazy considering in Budapest we ate many more quality plates spending less that an half.

We visited here with 2 other couples who we had met while on a Viking River Cruise. This restaurant was one of several recommended by the Hilton hotel where we were all staying. We all enjoyed the visit, the waiter was attentive and helpful. The food was great, really tasty and seemed genuinely local Hungarian dished. If there was a down side the bill was a little more expensive than our meal on the next evening (at a different bistro). Recommended though 👍

It's in the castle district so yes it's a tourist trap. Dinner for three, service was pleasant, my Goulash soup was OK. However my chicken paprikash arrived cold dried out and tough with a thick skin on the sauce. This was sent back and thankfully taken off the bill. My companions had duck or goose leg which was alright. Overall it's similar in price to Stand 25 bistro which is close by and far better.

We were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. The food is very AVERAGE but the prices are extremely HIGH! Service could be better too. A smile goes a long way.. ***BEWARE*** you will be asked to leave an additional tip on top of their 14% already added service charge. SHOCKING!!!!

Food is horrible and small. 12 of us had serious food poisoning. The head waiter in particular is extremely rude to customers. Restaurant will not communicate regarding the food poisoning incident (12 cases!) Now taking legal advice…. Please avoid this place. The Two others down the street are much better.

Believe the low rating and bad reviews! They have much to learns about customer service and cooking. I’m a NY-er, I’ve been to most high end restaurants in NYC and London, and certainly know when the food is good, especially since I’m also Magyar, and when the service needs improvement! They need A LOT of improvement and the waiter also asked for the additional tip, besides the service charge. Odd that other place haven’t asked for such additional tips, for the last few days of eating out. This waiter deserved it, but the host and restaurant manager should learn from NYC restaurateurs. Needless to say, Will Not be going back!

Scam!! From the moment we entered the restaurant, the waiter greeted us with a grim face and was not friendly at all. Good portions and presentation but expensive dishes. Worst of all, when it was time to pay, they made us pay in euros instead of the local currency (with the consequent disastrous change) before giving us the bill, and the waiter pressured us to give him an undeserved extra tip when the service was already included (14% when it is 12% everywhere). Worst service ever!!

We stayed 3 nights. The room was excellent. The evening meal was okay but you can get better. Breakfast was 2 croissants. Nice enough. The only downside was the coffee machine. They didn't replace the capsules after the first day which I felt was just tight.

We popped in here for lunch after wandering around the Castle District - the staff were welcoming and sat us at a nice table by the window. We ordered the fish soup to start and I had a weiner schnitzel with fries to follow, accompanied by a glass of Hungarian red. The soup was tasty but there were some indigestible bones which made it a little hard to eat. The schnitzel was huge and good quality. Overall had a nice meal but the prices were pretty high.

Food is pretty good, service can be improved. The waiters are very experienced, knowing when to smile when the time is right, bill time. Haven't seen them smile while seated, but the brightest smile when we were paying. If you want better tips, you guys might consider better customer service.

Our guide to the Buda Castle district suggested this place as having great Hungarian food. She was right! We started off with goulash soup which we were told is the 'real' way Hungarians prefer their goulash. Very tasty with lots of paprika served with a wonderful, crusty bread. Yum! If you want what Americans typically think of as goulash, you order the beef stew. For main courses, we had chicken paprikash and grilled perch with seasonal veggies. Wonderful. So now we can say we've had our authentic Hungarian meal!

Great location, great food, and great service. Stopped there after castle tour for lunch and very friendly welcome. Had goat cheese salad and best strudel of our 8 days in Budapest-Prague-Munich. Thanks.

Delicious, traditional Hungarian food with broad selection. Restaurant's premises are cozy and, clean and welcoming. Waiter and the whole staff are professional and friendly at the same time. The most delicious food we had in a long time, can recommend.

The food was nothing special. Quite bland, not very flavourful. We had the gulasch and the chicken paprikash. I recommend you eat these dishes another place. The raspberry lemonade was good though.

Stopped here for lunch. Service was a little slow to start off though picked up later on. We had the goulash soup and the pork knuckle. Food was very nice and good flavour. Could have done with some veggies.

We joined a friend who had previously been here before - infact we were so excited we were there an hour before opening, accidentally! The food was lovely. I had the chicken paprikash and my friends had the goulash soup. Both were really lovely and it felt like a home cooked meal. We had a young gentleman as our waiter and he was fantastic. I would definitely come back here on my future holidays.

This is my second visit to Hungary and specifically to Pest-Buda. I have to say that the service was incredible both times. Our waiter, Sandor, remembered us on our last visit and was so helpful in his wine and food recommendations which were amazing and delicious. He was amazing and made our dining experience even better! I would definitely recommend to try out the food here especially the dessert!! One of the best restaurants in the city! A must try.

Easy to find. Extremely friendly service and the food was amazing. The lemonade was refreshing. The desserts were absolutely delicious! When we're back in Budapest, we will definitely be coming to eat here again.

Delicious hungarian food! Prices a bit salty, but it is totally worth it. Staff super, super nice, which is not very common in Budapest. I loved! And the place is super romantic and cute

We had a good lunch: palinka, starters, soup, main course. All good: service, delivery speed and food quality. Prices are according to the location, slightly above city center average but definitely worth it!

I love this restaurant so much; in fact, it's one of my favorite restaurants of all time (right up there with Din Tai Fung). The chicken paprikash is delicious, and the stuffed pepper is super yummy, too! All of the desserts are good, but the best one is the . . . Don't know the Hungarian word for it -- it's some sort of bread pudding. Last time I was there, they said it was seasonal, but if you can get it, do! Also, the atmosphere of this place is great -- super cozy and relaxing. It's within walking distance of the fisherman's wharf as well, so you can take a nice stroll after you eat!

My 1st time to be here on my trip to Budapest and it's tucked on top of Castle hill district.Easy to locate as it's just up the left road from Hilton hotels Definitely must try as the food is impressively delicious 😋 and it came out quick in addition their cosy ambience decor added to a total experience being here!

We called in for a quick lunch break whilst touring the castle hill area of Budapest. We had goulash soup and some drinks, all very nice and the service was excellent.

Went here on two separate trips. Excellent all around. Service, food, and great palinka selections. Recommend the paprikash and the goulash soup, but everything else was good and there was a good amount of variety.

I only had the Crispy Duck Leg but boy, was it simply delightful!! Perfect portion, perfectly cooked, insanely perfect! One of my best meals in Budapest, and the service was excellent too! Wish I had discovered this restaurant earlier.

After 20 hours of travel we were tired and just looking for something to kick off our vacation in Budapest. We relied on our server Daniels recommendations and had the most wonderful meal including the local wine he recommended based on our preferences and taste.

We had a do-over dinner here after a bad experience. The service was good, the environment was relaxing and the food was good. We tried the apple strudel, stuffed cabbage rolls and chicken paprikash. It was all good, but we all agreed that the chicken was the best dish we had.

Reviewing the bistro, as I did not start at the hotel. The food was excellent, in a traditional Hungarian style. Loved the stuffed paprika!

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and it was the best experience ever. Richard was an amazing server all around helping us and being very kind all night! The place is beautiful and the restaurant was over all a great option if visiting this area! Recommend it 100% and will definitely be coming back!!

We came from Texas in The U.S. it happened to be my birthday and was hoping to find Pest-Buda Bistro. We found it and had Chicken Paprikosh for dinner. My husband and I both loved it. Excellent food and service. Had chicken paprikosh two more times while in Budapest. Pest-Buda was the absolute best. Highly recommend.

Was walking around sightseeing and came across this place. Great little place for lunch. Local dishes, very happy with our find. Sat outside under umbrellas. Was super hot out that day so the break from the sun was nice.

Had Supper here last night. Delicious! If you're American and like a early breakfast, they open at 7:30! Very rare for Budapest! And the breakfast was fantastic!

Lovely atmosphere, tasty food (the portions were a bit small so the quantity vs price was not satisfactory), great, friendly & fast service. Very tasty homemade pasta. The goulash was good, but nothing extraordinary.

Charming bistro in the castle district. Excellent selection of wines. The food is high quality and the waitstaff speak impeccable English. All of our food was flavorful and served hot & fresh. Card payments are accepted here.

I’m only in Budapest Mon-Fri, yet I’ve visited this wonderful restaurant twice already. The food is sublime; the fish soup is to die for (a meal in itself). And yes, one could say it caters for tourists, but that’s exactly what I am, and I want to taste authentic dishes when travelling, Pest-Buda delivers on all fronts.

I've found this place by looking at Google maps and trying to find a more authentic place in my walking distance. The service was very efficient, kind, and welcoming. They explained everything and went over any questions I had. The food itself was incredible. Everything was so tasteful Different textures and flavours. It was my first every Goulash I tried in Hungary, and I do not regret it. Altough I've never had a Goulash I liked before hand. The meat has kept its form but was soft and tender, same for the potatoes, they werent a mash, but they were very soft and well seasoned. Portions are big, so be careful when ordering The loca wine I was recommended was exactly the right fit, as it was not overpowering, but still had really good flavours. Would highly recommend this gem.

Five star food quality. Excellent mains and the chefs dessert of angel wing doughnuts was really very good. Shame they weren't serving the chocolate soufflé though. As usual, limited vegetarian options but the salad was good enough. However, the service was patchy, and we felt a bit hurried, but I would be unfair to remove a star from the rating in the hope that they remember that all guests would like a friendly server. Worth the trek up the hill for a great meal. Quite pricey but if you want really good traditional food, this is highly recommended.

Overall a nice, cozy, warming place in winter. Visited right on the 25th of December and we had a reservation at 14:45 but arrived earlier. They were nice and accommodating to give us a good table. They probably have some of the best palika I ever tried. And fabulous soups. The main courses though 😞 While the soups were flavorful and great, the main courses were dry and bland. Too bad. Also, pricey. But for the area and the rating…expected

We really enjoyed our evening at PestBuda Bistro. The food was fantastic and our waiter was very attentive. He suggested a bottle of wine that was the best I have ever had. Too bad I can't get it here in the states! So close to the Hilton that it makes it a perfect choice. Thank you, PB!
