A history you don't learn at school, unfortunately. An unmissable goal, of great importance, if you want to know the untold history. The curator of the museum is a great person.

Here was born Gheorghe Cirtan, a simple shepherd who fought for the unity of Romanians everywhere. The collection of this museum includes: icons on glass, books from his personal collection, old photographs, ceramics and crates for dowries specific to those times. In the courtyard of the museum there is a household of 200 years ago original. Something beautiful and interesting.

A museum small in size, which you can only visit together with the administrator-guide, a special person who shared valuable information with us. It is allowed to take photos in the premises and the exhibits, quite old objects but with cultural significance. You can park your car on the main street and visiting the museum should not take more than an hour.

Special place, very close to my heart, since I spent my childhood vacations in Cartisoara. Proud of my heritage and happy to share so much history !

This man was differrent. This museum remembers a special inhabitant of Cartisoara, an adventurer travelling the world by foot, wearing traditional romanian clothes and shoes. His adventurous soul was seldom at those times, a lot of celebrities of those times met him and recognised his uniqueness. He fought for romanian language and cultural independence in times of the austro-hungarian empire, carried books in romanian language to keep it alive. Past times, past problems, Romania is now a multicultural and multilanguage environment embracing its tolerance towards szeklers, rroma, bulgarians, turks, czechs, ukrainian and whoever else lives cramped in this country

The museum itself is not that big or special in any way. The rating I gave was solely based on the guide's knowledge and story telling skills. It was an amazing experience thanks to him. I recommend it to anyone who is passing by to have a stop there.

Great little museum of the area and it's peoples throughout history. Unfortunately all in Romanian, however the guide was so enthusiastic he was great to watch.

The museum totally surprised me. It's a small location with so much material to watch and history, much more than the story of Badea Cartan. I liked the room with the old painting on the glass. Upstairs is an exhibition about the anti-communist resistance in Fagaras.

You'll find a decent, traditional, romanian museum here. They have old objects, books, costumes and a very good guide (altough I don't know if he speaks English or not). He will present you the history of a peasant who traveled on his feet, in his traditional cloths across Europe as an activist for the union of Romanians between Transilvania and Valachia. Sadly, he didn't live to see the dream coming true..

The museum would probably be interesting if it wasn't closed all the time. On the gate there is an announcement with a phone number and the text that someone can come only if there is a group of I don't know how many people gathered for viewing. Sad…

The gentleman who takes care of the location is very funny and funny, speaks with many regionalisms... and it's worth it, to go a few extra kilometers, at least for a smile!

The guide was very friendly, but only speaks Romanian, but we had fun and were able to communicate quite well. The place is very interesting, resonating values of nationality, pride and heroism, was very touching and heartfelt.

A short stop for anyone interested in a piece of history from Cârțișoara. The ticket is ~€1 for adults while kids and the elderly pay a bit less. The museum is closed on Mondays and the opening period is usually between June and October (somewhat similar to the Transfăgărășan opening period). The entire museum takes about 15-30 minutes to visit and it mostly consists of local heritage and clothing, religious iconography, and farming tools and equipment.
