Peaceful environment, lovely variety of workshops and AMAZING evening concerts on the rooftop. Power house for egyptian rap / hiphop scene

It's a really nice place for concerts and other cultural events. Everything takes place in a really laid back and informal atmosphere. Last concert I attended there we were sitting on beam bags in a garden and the performers were in the same place. It is located in an interesting place of Old Cairo but might not be very easy to reach for some people. I strongly recommend going for a relaxing, fun and engaging evening of music when they have something on.

Their events seem ok. In regards to their “artist residency”, this is the worst artist residency I’ve done. If you are an artist considering to come stay here, especially a woman or other gender, let me save you from this wasted experience. In just two weeks living at Darb I experienced petty crime, sexual harassment, and daily breakdowns of essential infrastructure and staff, all while surrounded by constant noise, construction, fighting and dust, in a record heatwave and an area that’s disconnected and unsafe for women. Not all of Cairo is like this and residencies are usually more supportive and functional, even in extreme settings. If you want to come meet people and do a project in Cairo, stay at an AirBnb (if you can) for the same price or less and visit Darb and other venues on the side. You will be much safer and more productive. Their residency feels like a bit of a money-making scam for clueless foreigners or desperate young creatives, sorry to say. I think Darb would be better off acting only as the workshop and event part of the residency and not trying to have people living there…although in two weeks I never saw a work studio or any workshops happening either. It was super empty except for one movie screening.

I went to Darb 1718 for an exihibition and I loved it! Within the same compound you can find pottery workshops, sculpture ateliers and other nice shops. The rooftop is pretty cool for concerts and events.

A brilliant spot to find really excellent handmade products (especially high quality lamps & chandeliers, ceramic paints, pots, decorative items, etc...) More artisanal than the usual shops

A place full of art atmosphere, we had a wonderful experience there.

Unfortunately visited Darb1718 on a Friday afternoon, didn’t get the chance to visit the galleries as they were closed. However the stroll around was fun, street art and cool corners all around the site. Must visit again!

Great artistic corner. Quiet and unique. Pottery makers are quite creative and they tend to be easy with negotiating prices.

They have good events, not so well advertised though. Attended the Sinatras yesterday. The lighting can be massively improved for better effect. The seating arrangement, the entrance, parking. But the place has a good vibe.

It's a nice place for learning pottery and other kinds of arts and crafts, they also do a lot of exhibitions around Egypt, also they have a lot of different constantly setup galleries inside of each teaching school for different kinds of pottery and other different wood work products that are constantly on display for people to buy.

I've always wanted to be able to visit this place and when i finally did i was not disappointed!

In addition to lot's of craftsmen & workshops being there, it's a very good spot for people startups or new entrepreneurs to chose from glass to pottery or metal workshops. I think it's a very smart spot.

Lots of pottery workshops with all sorts of items (cooking, serving, decoration) for reasonable prices. The area is quiet and pleasant to walk through, and everyone we met was helpful.

A market for selling and making pottery... located in Old Cairo... and it is a meeting place for some artistic and cultural activities.

Such a shame that they want to demolish this place to widen the road for the new museum 🤦🏻‍♀️ Sign the petition on their Instagram or Facebook. We loved the handmade crafts, tiles and woodworking shops.
