We stopped by The Gin Bar on a Viator tour of hidden gems in Cape Town. It has an excellent vibe. We were really surprised to see this lively place. I ordered one of the specials - The Blackberry - which consisted of house gin, blackberries, mint, black pepper, lime and F&L Tonic. It was very refreshing. Try place is somewhere I’d definitely return to enjoy more time.

The secrecy of The Gin Bar both appeals to and confuses me… I feel as if everyone should know about this place! But at the same time I understand that the mystery is part of its charm. The interior is very aesthetic with upstairs and outdoor seating available. The gin was delicious, with different drinks offering ‘cures’ to various ailments which is a unique and interesting concept. The perfect place for date night!

This place is such a vibe!!! Just beautiful and so quaint ❤️ the gin cocktails? Amazing!! They have mocktsils too. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but picked up really quickly (on a Wednesday night)... It's a must visit. It's a tiny place, and hidden. But go.. Just go have a look ;)

Hidden behind a chocolate shop, under magical festoon lights stretching from one side to the other, you’d be excused for thinking you accidentally walked down a side street in Rome. The Gin Bar is the perfect spot to cool down in the Mother City on a hot summer’s night.

Incredibly cozy, and with amazing vibe. I was waiting for an Uber outside alone, and the security guard notified one of the bartenders who took his time to come out and wait with me for the sake of safety. Thank you for that - great staff!

The gin bar is a speak easy located just inside a chocolate shop! The drinks were carefully prepared by the barman considering a huge menu of gin they have from all around the world! We tried the five main ones (hope, head, heart, ambition and soul)! They are flavorful and different from the gins we are used to have! They have different types of drinks for the ones who doesn’t like gin that much! Also, the place has 3 snack option, it isn’t a dining place tho!

‘Secret’ hidden away bar. Nice younger Cape Town set. Interesting gin cocktails- hope/heart/soul/head/ambition.

A hidden gem, located in the heart of the CBD. Amazing drinks, and authentic style makes it a stunning venue for a relaxing time with your friends or even a drink after a work. Prices are competitive, but worth it. Would highly recommend.

Been to The Gin Bar for various reasons in the past but this time it was for a date and 10/10 for an intimate ambience we sat for hours which felt likes minutes just chatting and giggling. Great spot if you want to chill with friends and have an old town feel in the courtyard. The champagne room next to The Gin Bar is great for a quick celebration or after work social. Definitely recommend. If you worried about prices the gin starts at around R80 but it’s an experience you’re not going to get hammered. 10/10!

Beautiful and interesting setting. To me it was like I was in some place exotic like Turkey with the old building with in a building. The architecture and decor. The barman was friendly and acknowledgeable

Went here with friends expecting a diverse cocktail menu. There are 5 gin and tonic cocktails which I’m sure are great. I went to the bar and explained that I don’t like bitter cocktails and asked what they could do. I was told a gin mule is the only thing as they are ‘limited by their available ingredients’. There are plenty of ingredients in the 5 cocktails and I’m sure they can do something more creative than a gin mule. Suggest they add a more interesting non-bitter option.

Hidden away behind a chocolateer shop this was some of the best gins I have ever had, great place for pre dinner drinks with friends.

They have so many kinds of gin. A little to find, need to pass through a cafe, and this area is a lttle dangerous for tourist, so I need finish four glass quickly and leave before sunset.

Fantastic spot through the back of a chocolate shop. They have a large indoor area with an upstairs and a small outdoor patio. The five signature gin drinks all looked great-the two we tried were indeed refreshing and full of flavor. They also had a full menu of other liquors plus beer and mocktails. If you want to try some local gins or just chill for a bit, this is the place!

One of the best speak easy Gin bars in Cape Town. Walk through the deli that looks closed to the amazing bar that lay behind. Staff are always so nice and friendly never had a bad night.

Nestled at back of an unassuming Chocolate store, this rustic shabby chic bar is a must visit. The drinks are great. The vibe is warm.

I am sure Cindy Lauper sang the song time after time for the feeling you have when you taste this Gin! Smack me like the fresh Basil, have to recommend the Heart Gin. Setting is amazing, defs pull through if you in CT or coming in from surrounding areas

Deliciously unique drinks. Great vibe, open and friendly staff and patrons. A chocolate shop and sparkling wine bar share the space. Went back twice the same evening!

One of the best cocktail bars we found in Cape Town. A real speakeasy vibe, as the bar itself is tucked behind a coffee shop, so might be a little tricky to find. The gin cocktails were all fabulous and reasonably priced, and the layout was great with plenty of seating and a good vibe.

I absolutely loved, loved, loved my first visit to The Gin Bar this afternoon. The barmen were brilliant, the cocktails are delicious. The space is designed so we'll. And an evening under the fairy lights in the courtyard is a perfect space. Here are some of my pics. Please don't use without permission. Had an amazing time and am already planning my next visit with friends. - Cee

Beautiful, hidden, and precious part of town. Absolutely amazing Gin, really good quality and well made. Great staff, beautiful spot, and supreme vibe. Makes you feel like you stepped back in time. A place absolutely recommended to anyone who is visiting Cape Town.

Stunning little social spot with a very cool and friendly group of staff. One of those places where you grab a table with your best of mates and just chat over some absolutely mind blowing gin combinations. Highly suggest this spot for a sweet meet-up with your closest friends

Very atmospheric Gin bar with tasty and reasonable priced Gin Tonics. Music was a little loud but that was alright. Would go again!

😠 What a shocking experience. Went there on Sunday evening, the service and food was nothing short of laughable.
