Lady at reception had an attitude. Disorganised rooms as we asked days before and on the same day for early check in (11am) Which was agreed by them, 13:30 later and we got into our tiny room with no view or natural light or air. How fun is our stay!

If you’re staying in stunning sea point just do yourself a favor and don’t stay here! I really hate to leave an un-positive review, but this place really stressed me out. There are soooooo many amazing Airbnb’s and hotels for the same price if not cheaper in this area! The staff isn’t accommodating or friendly,I booked in the morning directly and the lady on the phone said my room is available and I can come anytime to check in! I arrived at 11:30am paid, filled out all paperwork, and then she said I can’t get my keys u til 3pm.(even tho my room was ready) In the meantime I kept my luggage with them and walked aimlessly around seapoint for 4 hours. When I came back at 4pm to get my key and check into the room, I was told “I’ll be with you now”… I had to wait 55 minutes before someone finally helped me,(all I needed was my key) and when I finally did get help I was pawned off to another worker who was busy doing something else and he seemed immediately annoyed that he had to stop what he was doing to assist me, it felt like I was such an inconvenience to them. The guy was questioning if I paid because he couldn’t find my reservation, and was asking me to fill out all the paperwork (again). Major attitude from staff. When I went to go get my luggage which they stored for me, it was buried under other bags/suitcases which I had to move and shift and dig myself to get mine. I’ve worked in the hotel industry and this was just so unprofessional. Maybe they’re understaffed, or having a bad day, but I really felt like I wasn’t welcome. The rooms are so basic and small for 1000 R/night. No separate bathroom, the toilet is in one corner, shower another corner, and bed another corner. My drain in the shower was clogged and filled the basin with water after 2 minutes, which released all sorts of scum hiding in the cracks. (🤮) The rooms are not soundproof and mojo market is a loud music bustling dancing entertainment place. Not the place for a quiet, cozy, good night of sleep. I really hope things improve as mojo market is so wonderful with amazing food, nightlife, and not to mention in a GREAT location, close to the sea and many shops/super Markets nearby, but unfortunately the hotel does not reflect the same quality or standard of mojo market.

Would not recommend this hotel. The rooms are severely overpriced for the TINY prison cell you get (no windows literally). The mattress cover had old blood and other questionable stains on. When we requested the room we booked it was just as small but had to pay extra for a room with a window. The 1st floor is so loud you could not sleep. Any drunk guest from the area has access to the top floor so you have drunk people making a scene outside your door and the staff did nothing to diffuse the situation. All in all it was not a good stay .

We booked one of their dorm rooms for a night's stay and the experience was terrible. It took an hour to individually check people in - we were a group of 9. Then when we eventually got checked in, we had to tip toe into the room because we had to wait for the cleaning lady to finish with the wet floors that she was still cleaning at 16h30. Then we had to ask the front desk 6 times to assist us with the aircon which wasn't working. It was so hot we eventually got 2 fans and a promise to sort out the aircon - it never happened! Then the oven in the room wasn't working - we couldn't find the button to switch it on and the stove had missing knobs. I could carry on, but I think you get the idea. Don't recommend it.

This was a really horrid experience. From check in, to the rooms, to the entire experience. I'll never stay here again. There are better hostels and backpackers to stay in, don't be fooled by the cheaper price. Really should have listened to my intuition. Note this was a dorm room stay. I found the dorms to be dirty, the quality of guests to be dodgy, none of my notes regarding the fact that I was disabled were taken into consideration, I blame this on management and their training not the staff I delt with. The initial room (possibly from the guests at that time) smelled of cigarettes, was dirty, with leftover food on the table. I didn't feel safe and like putting my bags anywhere even on the floor. My second room was better, they agreed to upgrade me to a different dorm. That was better. Ladies only, and clean beds but this was HOURS after check in time and I missed meetings due to their disorganization. I have worked in the field for two decades and never had an experience like this. I hope that this was a once off issue and that they are lovely, but this is my honest experience and I won't be back.

Room 115 this past weekend was horrible. Anyone should not book on this hostel .The staff is not well trained only Asiphe is so friendly she deserves to work at 5 star hotel not that shack .The cleaners do not know what they are doing just useless Your linen was looking dirty. Who ever is owning that hostel should be ashamed of yourselves. The management should really look to previous review and see how are people are so disgusted about your services. Worse you employ that ugly foreign lady who is so unfriendly and useless.

Been going to Mojo regularly, 3-4 times a year since 2019. I have to say that the place is going backwards. Out of all the rooms (dorms, private and studios) I’ve stayed in +- 12, and out of them I’d say 2 shower doors were able to close. Bed lamps and ceiling lights need to get new globes. Worst part of the whole experience is that the LA Lounge across the road opens Wednesday to Sundays from midnight until sunrise, the noise from fighting and swearing is worse than the music which isn’t pleasant in itself.

We are currently staying at Motown and our check out is only on Thursday. We have had the most horrible experience ever. Our unit was filthy and I had to clean it myself. There is no sanitiser as per booking.com. The staff is extremely rude, there are rats running around and we can actually hear them. People walking around with no masks in contravention with SA government law. Staff simply unlock your private room door and walk in. My partner is pregnant and very ill and this has been so bad. We are unable after numerous calls to get hold of management. What a disgrace!!! This will be reported to government as well as the hospitality bodies.

A Nightmare Stay I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent eight nights stay at MOJO Hotel. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, and I feel it's important to bring these issues to public attention. Firstly, the customer service provided by the hotel staff was very poor. Throughout my stay, I encountered several issues that required attention, but the staff was unresponsive and unhelpful. This lack of customer service left me feeling frustrated and unappreciated as a guest. However, the most significant issue I encountered was the theft of $500 from my in-room safety box. Despite reporting the theft to the hotel staff, they were uncooperative and did not offer any assistance in reviewing CCTV footage or investigating the matter further. As a result, I was left feeling violated and disappointed with the hotel's handling of the situation. To make matters worse, the hotel was unable to locate our booking even after we had paid through Agoda. This added further inconvenience to an already frustrating situation, and it's unacceptable that a hotel of MOJO's reputation would have such basic operational issues. Overall, my experience at MOJO Hotel was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I hope that hotel will take my feedback seriously and take steps to improve the quality of service provided.

Was in a windowless room that made me feel trapped in a cage, very noisy with the band downstairs, neighbour's on top of you that you hear them talking walking around and they were in and out all night no sleep for me. Close to a pick n pay but no bottle stores to be seen, didn't feel safe walking the area.

We paid around 140 Dollars per night for a room without any window. I felt like in a prison. We asked to change the room and they offered us a room with window for an upgrade fee which was ridiculous. And as we asked them if they think it’s normal to sell a room of 5 square meters without any window for that prize they just answered “it’s business”. I think if you make a reservation for a certain price you can expect a certain quality. In my opinion it was a rip off. And I want to want you, that it doesn’t happen to you. They were very unfriendly too. Which they should not be.

The rooms were nice. I shared a big private room with my mother. However my Aldo shoes were stolen from my closet from what I would image were staff. I had addressed it with management and also sent an email. Havent heard back from. Nice stay, just lock your goods in your bag. Do not leave in the closet. The staff there are untrustworthy.

Honestly speaking, I have been around the world, however it's my very first time experience to try out and experience a backpackers. I have to admit that the friendless, kindness and customer service in general is superb! The rooms are all new, clean, and have airconditioning. The location of Mojo can't be better in any way. Located at the heart of sea point, Mojo have a stunning views that covers table mountain, Lions head all the way to a breath taking panoramic view over the sea. In a single 2 MNTs walk , you can get to wild verify of restaurants, big department stores and shopping centres, including the beach. The only really thing that forced me to exchange my room 2 times in 2 days, is the poor WiFi networks which is very week & unreliable. But otherwise they are really worth the experience. Outstanding friendly customer service!

Fantastic staff, lovely surroundings, and a fantastic position. The hotel has the nicest and most helpful staff and receptionists I've ever encountered. The hotel was outstanding in every way. We had supper there, and the place was spotless, fashionable, spacious, and had great service. The food was excellent and well-valued, and the attentive and effective service was provided. The room itself was cozy and tastefully furnished. I had a great time during my visit. In the future, I plan to return for a longer stay.

Spent a night there for my best friend's 21st. Excellent location, shops for entertainment, buying mementos and great food all within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed with all the necessities of a small kitchen and bathroom. Towels are not included btw. The only issue we had was that the drains didn't drain very well and water wouldn't go down the shower or sink drain. Room service came by and fixed it but then it still did the same thing. Also, there was no hot water for showering in the morning(despite it being 9am💀)

I have never been to Cape Town until my visit back in late September of this year, and this hotel makes me wish I had just gone straight home. Upon arrival, the person whom had booked the rooms for myself and the people I was staying with claimed there was an outstanding balance. Thankfully, said person had brought with physical copies of the paperwork saying otherwise. Less than an hour in and already my experience is bad. The rooms were atrocious. We were given three little crash pads on the roof. The bathrooms were tiny, two people cannot fit in them. The beds, whilst comfortable are not suitable for more than one person depending on what they have chosen to give you. We told the person at reception about this and not only had they messed up the booking, they gave us a tiny studio as consolation of which they said may not be available for our whole stay. Again I stress that I had not even been in the area for 12 hours and this was happening. The studio was slightly better than the crash pads simply because multiple people could stay in it. One bed was positioned next to a kitchenette, barely a meter away from the oven, almost no cutlery and a TV not even facing the bed itself. Granted, it was able to swivel on a wall bracket and for that I admit is a fault of my own and not that the Mojo Hotel itself. The bathrooms contain a toilet and shower, but they are in individual tiny portions, with wash basins outside of said portions. The upstairs portion contained no bedside tables, simples stools. There is also a massive low concrete beam upon which I hit my head. The balcony had broken furniture which did not make for a pleasurable stay. On my second and final night we were again given individual crash-pads. These however were slightly better in terms of privacy and view of the Atlantic Ocean from one's room. However, the shower contained no body-wash at all, and I had to improvise using their hand-soap and shampoo. My final complaint is the market. Mojo claims it is a lifestyle market when in fact this is exceptionally untrue. It is entirely bars and food stalls, save for one non-food and beverage store. Granted the food is not bad, however you cannot advertise yourself a s lifestyle market if there is only one stall to fit said description. It is safe to say that if this hotel is available again, I shall not be making a reservation.

Great place to stay during your visit in Cape Town whether for holiday or business. It's a place you will enjoy staying at repeatedly and that you will miss when you leave. What is more exciting about the place is the convenience of the Mojo market, there is no place like it in Cape Town.

Gorgeous accommodation, in a very beautiful part of Cape Town. Close enough to the city and the beach to explore, beautiful enough to stay indoors and enjoy the amenities. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely will recommend and return.

Check in and check out was quickly and staff friendly and helpfull. Room was very clean we stayed in one of the rooftop rooms with beautifull mountain and sea view. Great location and felt safe everything walking distance from hotel with plenty of different restaurants and little shops to choose from.

This is the ideal stay when travelling with a group of friends. The rooms are fair and offer all the basics. The market itself offers a wide variety of cuisine, there is something for everyone. It is also located in an affluent area in Cape Town, Sea Point, close to the ocean (Clifton & Camps Bay) and V&A Waterfront.

-Only Location is good next to Mojo market but also everywhere is public access, not much privacy. -TV only Netflix not normal cable. -We have to keep asking for new towels everyday. Towels have stain. - staff have no visible name badge, it hard to refer who assisting to you earlier.

I had the most wonderful stay unfortunately I was only there for 2 nights I wish to come back for a longer stay. The check in process is very easy the staff members are the best they are very friendly and welcoming the best part about this hotel is the food market. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because my room had no space for me to put my luggage they do not have cupboards in the room

My daughter stayed in the crash pad. It was small but clean, and serviced daily. It also had a fridge, good WiFi. The location is amazing, close to amenities and plenty of places to eat, the mall and close to the boardwalk.

Perfectly situated in the heart of everything buzz and fun at a walking distance. The market on the ground floor keeps me coming back( food and entertainment). The ocean view from the roof top rooms is breathtaking.

The room had no window so one cannot get fresh air. It was loud and the noise didn't stop even in the evening. An hour before check-out the lights in our room were switched off and when we enquired we were told that there is maintenance, however, only our room was switched off

The environment was great and the service was good. There was loads of options to choose from and that is always brilliant even though there was lots of people but the waiting time was not bad at all. Only down was the entertainment- there was no entertainment

A few tips for nomads and backpackers: 1. Some dorms have a large table where you can work/chill/eat, some don't. 2. Some dorms have the kitchen in the rear of the room, some in the middle. I prefer the rear kitchen, so you can cook without bothering the entire room. 3. There is no common area where you can meet other travelers and no organised activities, so you may only meet the people in your room (even though the hostel has over 100 beds). Basically, the Mojo Market is the common area but it's hard to tell who is a guest and who isn't. 4. If you need a quiet place to work or chill, Bootlegger Coffee across the street is the best option.

Spent about 8 hours at Mojo to meet old friends, eat and have a few drinks and to watch Boks vs Wales rugby. The buzz is palpable. Great vibes. So many good, freshly made food choices !! Next time I might have the courage to ask the band to turn down the volume. Well worth a few visits.

We got to the hotel and couldn’t book in until 2pm even though the website said we could when we arrived. They told us to leave our bags in the lobby while we went to sevens rugby. When we came back at 9pm our luggage had been lost. There was little effort being made to find our lost luggage. We were all freezing cold. They couldn’t understand why we were upset and they were not helpful at all. We only got our luggage 2 hours later. And they were not apologetic nor offer anything for our experience.

  • 4/5 Eugene H. 1 year ago on Google
Great place, great vibe! Loved the variety, quality and class of the food and drink stalls. Definatley a cut above other markets that I have attended. Also great place to bring the family for sporting events which are displayed on big screens in numerous areas with ample seating for a relaxed atmosphere.

I definitely recommend Mojo Hotel. We stayed in the 4sleeper Studio apartment with a sea view. It was amazing. Spacious and had a bath with hand shower, a huge walk-in closet and the loft on top had 2singlebeds and was nice and spacious too. It is perfectly located with the Mojo Market at the bottom and the perfect view. The only down side was that the kitchenette did not have basin area and we had to wash our crockery and utensils in the bathroom sink. This location is ideal for groups and perfect for a 'girls night out'. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Not at all as pictures on Google or booking.com was very disappointing...charging full price...staff was not trained at all and doesn't seem to know what's going on. Location was good and market.

Rooms are reasonably priced, the location is phenomenal! Right on the foot of sea point promenade. Downstairs There’s a mojo market bursting at the seams artisan shops ready to cater to every diet. Also very fun when there’s a SA RUGBY MATCH !

The place is beautiful with lots of restaurants serving different dishes. It reminded me of a place (Station) in Rome where you have many restaurants and shops... I like it as you get to choose what you want to eat. Music is also welcoming, it makes you feel like you're at home.
