An excellent hidden gem in Cape Town for anyone with young kids. The museum is friendly and engaging from the moment you enter through the gate. The staff are welcoming, passionate and knowledge. The museum itself has something for all kids, our 2 year-old enjoyed the jungle gym, swings, large selection of toys to play with, story room and craft room. There are even more educational activities for older children. Some of the older and more established museums can definitely learn something about creating an engaging space for learning from this independently run master piece.

My grandchildren, ages 9, 5 and 2, would not leave this happy place. We brought snacks and stayed for almost 4 hours! Oupa read ever word in every room while I enjoyed a free cup of tea. Something for everyone here. Highly recommended.

This is my daughter’s absolute favourite place and such an incredible blessing. So many wonderful things for kids to do and explore. A stunning reading room, a wonderful arts and crafts room, a great jungle gym and swings outside, not to mention lots of toys! All there for kids to play with. And all for no charge. It’s an absolute haven for little ones and we love it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the facilities are well kept and clean. I highly recommend this to anyone with a child.

What a wonderfully creative and interactive place for children to visit! The displays are interesting and age-appropriate. It is very informative about children's rights and is aimed at educating children about their rights. Well done to everyone who is involved with this museum in any way!

Free. Kitted out with craft room, library, toy room, Mandela history room, outside area, and swings. Excellent security. Enthusiastic staff. You can make yourself free tea and coffee in the little kitchen. Just a win.

It is a free museum and really well run and would benefit many parents to take their children through it. I went with my daughter who was visiting with her daughter from Canada.

We had a wonderful time with our kids from Heideveld cycling club Hcc today. All the kids enjoyed the wonderful experience with the t-shirt design today at the Museum

If you aren't sure what to do with your kids on a rainy day, visit this museum. It's such a gem. The kids can read, do a craft, write a letter, and post it to a child at Red Cross Hospital...

Free coffee and entrance. Kids crafts are great and the story room is a winner too. Writing letters to kids in hospital brings so much joy to my little one.

Incredible experience for both kids and adults! Very friendly staff. The craft section can keep toddlers entertained for hours on end. We were suprised by the vast variety of books that were available to read - definitely a place you'd want to visit over and over again and good luck convincing your little ones to leave😎

What an amazing place for a school outing. Wow! Pitter Patter Playschool from Tokai had a fantastic morning there this week. The staff were attentive and so eager to please and interacted brilliantly with the children. The children just didn't want to go home, which is a really good sign. Thank you so much for a lovely morning at the Museum of Childhood.
