We had an amazing experience in Aura hotel Barú. Rooms are nice, clean and very well maintained. The 2 beaches are amazing and relaxing. You have free access to kayak and paddle and to other water sports for a fee. But the highlights of the trip was the food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were amazing. Fresh food with a lot of options. The level of service is wonderful too. I highly recommend.

All round a beautiful experience! From the first moment the gates were opened we were feeling welcomed. The service was definitely outstanding. Specifically, Alberto was kind, attentive and a great person to talk to. He is working wholeheartedly and is doing a great job 👏🏼 From relaxing at the beach, swimming in crystal clear water to stand-up paddling or table tennis. Being active is no problem. Everything’s is cared for. The food is delicious and the portion is more than enough☺️ The chef created several Vegan options. The bruschetta was amazing 😍 All in all the hardest thing was to leave this place again … see you next time 🦋

My son & I stayed here during our recent trip to Colombia for my 51st birthday. It is a beautiful, small resort on the peninsula commonly referred to as Barú for the nearby town, and about 90 minutes drive outside Cartagena. I would consider this a mid-level resort, not high end. It was lovely, mostly quiet with the most amazing, attentive staff and excellent food. The beaches were slightly disappointing, as they are small, choked with mangroves on one side and too close to the dock where boats come in, making it smell like gasoline in the afternoons from all the activity from island hopping tours, etc. However, in the early mornings it was absolutely beautiful and we'd often see tropical fish zipping around. The cabanas were pretty and comfortable, the bar very close and the drinks were excellent and very reasonable. The rooms were in good working order and pretty. We did have an issue with a strong smell one night, and they moved us to a different room with no further incidents. We felt very safe and well cared for and I would def return, as I feel it was an excellent value and wonderful experience.

I recently had the most incredible experience at Aura, the beachy hotel in Baru. It's conveniently located just a quick 1-hour ride from Cartagena, making it the perfect overnight getaway from the bustling city life. I went with amazing friends and had an wonderful time! The room was spacious, well-furnished, and spotlessly clean, with an extremely comfortable bed and a luxurious shower and jet tub. The entire staff, from the host to the waitresses and beach attendants, were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Any request we made was promptly fulfilled within 5 minutes, which was impressive. I can't wait to plan our next overnight stay at Aura. It was exactly the much-needed break we all deserved! Five stars all the way!

Simply spectacular. The attention of the employees was incredible, the Tours that we booked with them are super good, we did the bioluminescence and snorkeling, both highly recommended. The massages were also very good and the girls were super attentive. We always had internet and we could work from the place. They have outlets at the bar so it's perfect if you're going to work remotely. The truth is that you don't need to go out to eat since the restaurant's food is spectacular. The beach is private and beautiful and has easy access. Maybe it would be cool if they had more paddle boards and the cocktails were a little mild. Something that is super normal but just for you to be aware of is that to get to the Barú island, sometimes there are locals that may approach the car aggressively to try to sell you their tours but just ignore them and don't let them ruin your experience. Also super worthy to get the hotel transportation even though it might be a little bit pricier, as we heard really bad things of other ways of transportation. Lastly, the road is a bit bumpy but nothing crazy, enjoy!

Went here for lunch - as I didn’t like the stay offerings or the day pass - but the restaurant was great. Nice seafood dishes, relaxing, friendly waiting service. The food was delicious and very well presented. Desserts and coffee also recommended.

Amazing hotel. Excellent service. The restaurant and the bar serve high quality food/drinks. Great for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. The only negative note is the noise during the weekends in Cholon (loud music). However it gets quiet after the sunset.

The hotel itself is beautiful, rooms are large, nice, and clean, and the whole place is quiet and relaxed. The food at dinner was delicious and drinks too, and we enjoyed using the kayaks to explore the coastline. I imagine if the hotel was more busy it would feel quite small but it was the perfect amount when we were there. However, we had reserved a room with a private balcony and upon arrival they tried to put us in another room without saying anything. Of course we noticed right away it wasn't the room we reserved and asked what happened. They had given our room away to other guests, which is an unfortunate and most likely common practice here. They offered us free dinner or an excursion to "make up for it", and we had no choice really. This kind of thing shouldn't happen! Additionally, if you are planning to drive here rent a 4x4 vehicle - the roads are dirt and are barely passable in a regular vehicle.

The nicest and friendliest hotel staff that I have ever encountered. They took a weekend of bad weather and made it a truly wonderful experience for the entire family. We were welcomed with drinks, accommodated for older family members, and given personal treatment at every opportunity.

Could I give a 0/5? I would if I could. My husband and I had a "time" in Colombia to say the least. We were hoping to come to Cartagena/Baru with a new headspace, given a lot of our trip was "too eventful"- if you get what I am throwing down. Now, on the ride out to the resort, the road is terrible. No where in ANY reviews does it report ruts the size of a small Kia, but yes, the road is horrible to get out there. It took us a litte over 2 hours to go 30 miles from the airport, and they charged us 300,000 pesos Anywho, we arrived and were immediatly greeted by nice staff and a non alcoholic beverage. Very nice. The food at lunch and dinner are great, unless you do not like seafood (shrimp, fish, prawns, clams, lobster, etc). Then you are kind of screwed. The hotel staff that is at dinner and walking around the premises are great, very attentive. Anywho, we walked around and saw that the beach was somewhat small (which I could tell my the wide angle pics of the resort online (always deceiving lol, to those who cannot tell). The bartenders are great and drinks are really good as well. However, we were shown into our rooms, and I would have to say they are not worth the amount you pay. No A/C on when arrived (which is typical down there to save costs), and the floor was dirty and the shower was, well, less than a tranquil shower experience that we paid for. The free paddleboards, kayaks were a nice addition. Our main problem was leaving. NEVER again will I visit here. My husband (who speaks very good and CLEAR spanish), informed the front desk staff the day prior when we needed to leave. Our flight was around 11 am, and requested a taxi at 7 am promptly. He even wrote it down for the receptionist. When we arrived downstairs with our luggage, they report " we thought it was 9:30?!. oh NO. That is not what we said. They argued with my husband and then started calling other taxis to get us to the airport. Said it would be 15-20 minutes at most,....it was literally 1:20 minutes later. Yes, we missed our flight. This is the worst customer experience we have ever had at a resort setting. I still had to pay a late driver (which it is not his fault) 220,000 pesos and a tip. I would suggest the hotel manager write me an email to report that they were in helping us miss our flight so my travel insurance will cover my new flight which costs 3 x more than the flight i missed. 😒

Alberto and Mafe went above and beyond to treat us like family while we enjoyed an amazing lunch at Aura, as this was one of our stops during an Islas del Rosario tour on June 12th, 2022

Stopped here while on a catamaran day cruise. Very beautiful location and amenities. Service was excellent and food was great. Wish that we could've been able to stay longer.

Beautiful hotel! We had some amazing days there! The food was really good and the room was beautiful as well. The toilet flush in this resort didn’t work that well to be honest. To arrive there from Cartagena was a 1.5 hour car ride (not the best streets). The staff unfortunately sometimes seemed a bit annoyed.

I absolutely loved my experience at Aura Hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is nice. The private beaches are very small but since there aren't that many guests, it's fine. The rooms are clean with a fantastic view over the sea and the activities they propose are safe, well organized and overall worth the price. I really recommend this place, I had a great, relaxing and fun stay.
