We had early check-in, which was a surprise, our room was ready…; parking was on site and clearly it convenient; staff was very attentive. Front office was very courteous; pricing for the hotel in the area was very competitive; located in a very nice area across the street from the hill, university… Within walking distance of sites… We simply joy staying here; the rooms very clean and update it; we had a nice view of the city; there is a pool on the roof of the hotel, which was not open, because it was still little chilly; but we simply enjoy the facility. They have a wonderful breakfast on the main floor …. good hotel. Highly recommend.

Great location in downtown town and decent room size that’s about it. Old and outdated. Toilet from the day we entered the room it was simply not flushing we had to try fixing it ourselves..something wrong with flush system (old and rusted). Staff serviced the room once in three nights stayed only made the bed and folded towels in the bathroom. Trash was left in the room, dishes in the sink, coffee was not refilled. We ran out of water tried vending machine it only takes cash, asked front desk to bring some up and charge it to the room they told us they don’t provide this service. Parking $35/day we didn’t even bother. Right across the street public parking $22/day. Traveled as a family of four two queen beds were nice but sofa bed was just bad. Unfortunately will not stay in this place again. I can overlook the age of the hotel, the outdated design but not the quality of the service. That’s why two stars.

All the photos that you see from this hotel are lies!! Literally lie . Hotel is very old , rooms and hallways are very old with no renovation. Room windows are locked and you can not open them just a small horizontal window is opening like 10 inches. There was old ugly kinda kitchen inside our room. Everywhere smells wet and there is damp smell specially in bathroom. If we could see the real photos we never would reserve this hotel. I’m sorry for our experience, it wasn’t real Location is the only good thing about this hotel which made us leave hotel early mornings and came back late just to try to sleep in that smell. Parking!! Omg ! They will charge you 35$ per night!! It’s even more than public parking Bad experience I would never forget that disappointment which I experienced as soon as we arrived to hotel

It was our second choice hotel but it was definitely the right choice. Everything about this hotel was great. I would rate this hotel as 4.5. the room was spacious with a full kitchenette behind closed doors and everything that's needed . We were so impressed that we recommended our out of town guests about your hotel. Living in the West Island we plan to stay at your hotel for a few days to enjoy downtown.

Great location. Nice rooms, the bathrooms are a bit outdated. Reception team was friendly efficient and happy to help. Valet service was excellent. Housekeeping on Sunday could have done better. However, on the other days was very good. If you are looking for a hotel downtown Montreal, this is a great option much better value for money than the one right across the street.

Good location, large suite, lovely view of Mont Royale. Kitchenette could have been a little better equipped. No kettle, no dish drainer, lack of knives for cutting and chopping. Exercise room was good!

This was a suprise booking through hotwire. At first I was extremely disappointed because I made sure a pool was included and it turned out this hotel had a rooftop pool and is seasonal, so during march no swimming for us. BUT, when we arrived we were greeted pleasantly by the valet staff, and front desk staff was excellent as well. The rooms are beautiful. Very spacious and even have kitchenettes (shown in pictures from both rooms) which was so very nice to have. I was surprised the duvets were sandwiched between two sheets instead of inside a cover, but the beds and pillows were super cozy, and clean. No stains or tears everything looked and felt new. Plenty of towels in bathroom. The shower head in our room screamed when in use which was super annoying, however I will say that is my only complaint. Oh, I did blow the fuse twice that took out the kitchenette and bathroom electricity requiring maintenance to come fix. The first time was running the microwave and kettle at same time, and second was microwave and hair dryer. Oops! Heads up only use one appliance at a time. Stayed for 5 days and it was like having an apartment! Did not eat breakfast in the hotel but it is $25+tax and gratuities. Sales tax in Quebec is 15%.

Conveniently located downtown, we arrived at Hotel Le Cantile Suites when its valet parking was inaccessible due to city road maintenance. However we were provided complementary underground parking across the street. The hotel foyer resembled a fancy club, but with a limited seating area and a popular Greek restaurant on the side. In the assigned room, the hotel showed some of its age. It was spacious, carpeted and came with a kitchen closet resembling an old bachelor pad. The wall insulation didn’t do a much to keep noise down from down the hall. Room was clean but the duvet left fillings on the carpet & under the bed. The hotel is within a short walk of the Golden Mile Square & the Bell Centre. The rooftop pool was not ideal for the rainy weather that we encountered. At night, concierge/security did do a heck of a job to screen out non-guest entrants.

Great location but otherwise just old and overpriced. Never cleaned cups or refilled coffee, dirty old rough towels, toilet water constantly running and high water level in bowl so you touch the water when sitting to go number 2, weird shower angle and low pressure, tight bathroom, odd layout where you can't watch tv from bed, wasted space due to weird furniture placement, very old kitchenette, balcony door and windows don't open, lumpy pillows, dismissive staff, asked me to pay parking and we didn't have a car.

The hotel was nice. The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the rooftop pool was warm and fun and the food was excellent. I would love to come back. One thing is that one night we had to evacuate the hotel at midnight because of a fire alarm and I heard the same thing had happened a few nights before, so that makes me nervous.. otherwise loved my stay!!

I visited last week with my 2 teens. I was told in March when I booked, breakfast was $25 per person. No mention before tax. For 3 people, $97. I lost my keys twice. I hadn't been well due to the heat and was anxious due to not feeling well. My son's key didn't work I went to replace it. The front desk clerk looked angry and than asked me if I needed 8 more keys. He was clearly angry with me. The kitchenette could have had cutting board, sharp knives and sink drain. My kids found the beds very comfortable for sleeping. I had one accommodation which was nice. I understand tourism took a hit during the pandemic, but if you arent wealthy, don't visit Montreal unless you stay with a friend.

I've stayed here twice. My visits were about ten years apart. I love this hotel! The location is perfect and everything is very nice inside. The rooftop pool is a lot of fun and offers wonderful views toward Mont Royal. The staff is friendly and helpful! We let them know about one issue on our way out for a food tour. When we came back it was already fixed. This is and will always be my Montreal hotel!

Ok hotel with a lot of inconvenient unnecessary procedures. Fully Worth the 3 stars but not more. While using the hotel parking you have to check in your keys every time(apart from being not the most COVID friendly it’s very inconvenient to wait every time for the keys when leaving the hotel or coming back) plus because of the construction we were stuck in the alley to the parking. The pool is amazing but you can’t book a day in advance then instead of using your room keys to access the pool you have to go exactly 5 minutes before your slot time down to get the keys. Unnecessary elevator rides back and forth. Half the TV channels don’t seem to work. Only one washroom picture when we booked the room which made sense since the bathroom is pretty much the size of the picture. Staff is trying to be helpful which was nice. Overall the hotel costed pretty much the same as delta Marriott where we stayed prior so when you compare that with the services here, should have rather just rebooked at delta.

We stayed four nights at Hotel Le Cantlie and our experience was nothing short of wonderful. From the front desk to housekeeping, the staff of this hotel were accommodating and friendly. The valets in the garage were superb! They were the most efficient that I have seen in a parking garage (kudos to Daniel, Sam, etc.). A bonus for the hotel was that their garage provided ‘in and out’ privileges – one rate per day, regardless of how many times you came and went. The location was convenient, next to a Metro station and a bus stop, and we felt safe in this district. The area is mostly business buildings and other hotels and we felt secure enough to walk in the evenings. Compared to hotels in other metropolitan cities, the prices were very reasonable. We opted for a junior suite and it included a kitchenette with utensils, oven, full-size fridge, and microwave. This came in handy on nights where we stayed in and heated leftovers. While we didn’t dine in the in-house restaurant in the mezzanine, it must be good because it was always packed. The water pressure in the toilet and shower was low (for my taste) but not a deal breaker. This could be a municipality thing and not hotel-specific. I would recommend Hotel Le Cantlie and will stay there again when we return to Montreal.

READ BEFORE BOOKING - Came here with 6 other gentleman for my bachelor party and we booked two “premium suites”. Here were all the things wrong with it that the front desk never corrected: - Our room didn’t have a working fan - The toilet needed to be flushed multiple times to make sure your business went down - The pull-out couch mattress was disgusting. Dirty, uncomfortable and OLD - We were excited to use the “premium” rooftop pool since we lucked out with great weather. This of course was closed - Room service which is a standard in luxury hotels was also not available - Kitchen cabinets were falling a part when you opened them - We had a nice parking fee brought up at the end of $70 that was never mentioned. You’d think this could’ve been waived for all the inconveniences we had with our experience but they did not help even though we were reasonable and polite. If you’re coming down here for a party, take this advice. I never write negative reviews, but I really want a future parties to avoid this place, you can do better.

Great location, perfect actually. A few minutes from Mc Gill uni, all the shops and things to see, driving or walking. The person at the reception that night was very nice, I am sorry I can’t remember his name.

great hotel, we were able to get an early check in at 10am due to our flight landing early and that itself was amazing. We received a better room than what we booked for with an amazing view. Employees were very welcoming, the only thing I’d comment on is somethings are a little outdated in the room including the comforter.

I have been here multiple times. There are certain rooms that are overpriced and misleading in this hotel. The "executive" suite which costs less than the "junior" suite is worse if you need a kitchen (there's a cabinet that opens and reveals a modular kitchen that is ancient). The junior suite is more open, and frankly a better 'experience'. Elevator usage in the summer is painful. I love this hotel for a couple of main things, which is the location and the amount of space for the price. If you need space to breathe, and don't care about being in a fancy hotel, this place has it.

This is not a 5-star hotel. I'm giving 5 stars based on my expectations for a 3-star hotel. We booked the premier suite and were very pleased all aspects of the experience. Nothing fancy, but everything we needed. Came with a group of adults but would definitely Pros: - Central location (Can walk to the top of Mount Royal in 20 mins) - Great rates - Responsive staff to bring additional things we needed in our room - Extremely spacious suite with ample room for sitting, sleeping, and food prep - Clean and tidy Cons: - Shower temp was all over the place - No on-site parking for larger vehicles. We ended up just using a parking location around the corner for $16/day which was very reasonable

Our week stay was great! When we arrived we were upgraded to a larger room. Hotel staff asked us daily if we needed anything done in the room. Location is excellent. Very pleasant stay.

My family and I really didn't enjoy our welcome as we felt some hardship on couple of the staffs. The night of when we were checking in, i asked the front counter in where their parking is. The lady at the front counter called one of the valet staff to take a look at the vehicle first to see if it will fit. The valet rep came up and nodded his head right away after he heard me in English if it will fit (I did receive an email prior mentioning what vehicle would fit and not, dodge Durango is less than 6ft) and he said no. Because I didn't speak French, I had a lot side eye from the front receptionist and this felt very unwelcoming. After I dropped off my family, I had to drive around to find parking. After 45 minutes I decided to drive the vehicle to the hotel parking lot myself and there was an older gentlemen who saw the vehicle along with the representative that was there before that saw the car to see if it will fit it not. The older gentlemen said he will park the vehicle and it will be free as it's included in my stay. I was surprised to hear and relieved and I looked at the gentlemen that aw the vehicle earlier and he gave me a side eye. During our stay, my family and I were thinking of switching hotel but we were there for work that was a walking distance from the hotel and finding another replacement was a challenge. We didn't feel welcomed and it was difficult for me and my family to be at this hotel simply because we didn't know how to speak French.

Did not clean the toilet, or wash our used coffee cups. Did not refill the Nespresso pods. Then on check out tried to tell us we had vehicle parking charges, but we had no parked car. Old and dated hotel. Needs a major renovation. Disorganized mess. Would not stay here again.

We had an enjoyable stay. Comfortable bed & spacious suite with kitchenette. Great location being in the heart of Montreal downtown surrounded by nice resturants, shops, malls.. . Valet parking underneath the hotel building was a great with reasonable price compared to other parking garages in the area. Rostom from front desk was kind, professional with a great smile lightening my experience. Surely I would book it again for future Montreal visit.

I wouldn’t stay here again. The rooms are much older and dingier than the pictures appear. My room had an odd smell, my room door didn’t shut properly and the furniture in the room felt outdated and old. I found the staff service just so so - they seemed annoyed to have to check me in and when I called to ask a question regarding check in the front desk cut me off so fast I couldn’t even get my second question in. For the cost of this hotel I think there are much nicer options in Montreal. I came here after staying a few days at the honeyrose and Le Cantlie just doesn’t compare. Check in was also difficult. There was no space to pull in front the of the hotel so I had to drive around the block two times before a spot became available. The valet staff was very friendly (although I always prefer non valet parking). The bathroom was newly renovated and quite lovely but the rest of the room needs an overhaul.

We as a family stayed there for three nights. Have both plus and minus of the property. Starting with check in. We were travelling from Oakville and due to better traffic condition our arrival time was around 3pm. Called hotel and requested them for slightly early check in, if possible. They politely denied the request. We reached around 3:15pm and there was already a rush of people for check in. Due to less sitting place, many people including us were standing waiting for check in. It took at least 20-25 min for our turn for check in. We were given suite on 18th floor. Upon arrival in the room and after opening our luggage, it was found that neither AC nor toilet flush we’re working. Upon complaint, a guy came to fix the issues. After half an hour of effort, he told that there was problem with water line since yesterday and was amazed why we were allotted this suite. Finally our suite was upgraded on 19th floor after couple of hours of discomfort. After that our stay was fine and mostly without any issues. The condition of the suite and beds were below par. Kitchen cabinets felt like falling apart. The mattresses were quite old and needs replacement. Didn’t have proper sleep due to the beds. Sofa bed, as usual, was also discomfortable. We didn’t complain as we know what we are getting in a busy season. Location was great being right in the downtown. Metro stations and dollar stores were nearby. Main grocery store like Provigo was at 10 min walk. Staff at the counter was polite and helpful. Valet service is not appropriate as you have to bring your vehicle by yourself at check out. Pool at the 28th floor was worth trying. Gym was good. Rooms certainly need upgrades and refurbishment. There are only 3 elevators for such huge building having 28 floors. It took sometimes 10min to get into the elevator. Despite all these, we still enjoyed our stay in Montreal as we were out most of the time. I would recommend the hotel for family staying in Montreal.

Great location in the city, but the rooms left a lot to be desired from the bathrooms, the beds and the climate control (or lack thereof). The staff were great. I would look for another hotel if going back to Montreal.

  • 3/5 Stacey G. 9 months ago on Google
Pros: It’s clean Pretty good location-close to shopping and about a half hour walk to old Montreal. Staff was amazing and speak both French and English. 2 on-site restaurants Pool Gym We were upgraded to the presidential suite in the 12th floor. With a family of 4 the extra space was appreciated. Cons: The room smells very musty. It’s quite off putting. Like wet mouldy bathing suits you forgot in a gym bag for a month. I would be absolutely terrified to turn on the stove in the kitchenette. Resembles some sort of kitchen taken from a 1970a motor home complete with metal cupboards It needs to be renovated. While clean, the doors are squeaky, paint peeling, some doors are warped and won’t close. Serious lack of electrical outlets for charging. Was happy I brought a multi plug outlet. With 2 phones and 2 laptops we wouldn’t have had enough outlets. Elevators are super small and slow. All in all it wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t stay here again for an extended period of time, but for a single night it’s fine

Stayed in Montréal for a few days in august and the hotel was great. Clean rooms and efficient staff. The kitchenette was a bonus and was able to save a little money by having breakfast in. The roof top pool was heated and relaxing after a long day sightseeing in Montréal.

I stayed at the hotel with my two children for two weeks. A perfect experience. The location of the hotel is central and close to the metro. There is a bus stop outside the hotel. There is much to see and experience in the area. The room is spacious with a small kitchenette that contained everything we needed to prepare small meals. In short, highly recommend. It was perfect!!!

It's very good. All staff are excellent, patient. The hotel's rooms need touch up. Toilet and kitchen cabinets are old but totally are clean. The roof top pool is very good. The hotel didn't enough space parking but this is the area probably. The location is excellent and close to St. Catherine where is a wonderful street. Totally I highly recommend there.

Excellent stay. Comfy beds and linens. Quiet floor. Shower pressure and temp were wonderful. Being tall individuals the shower head was positioned perfectly. Toiletries were very nice quality. Having the little kitchenette was convenient. Could use paint job on some of the cabinets. Overall excellent location and overall stay! I would recommend to others.

Great location and amenities, friendly staff, good food, comfortable environment. Ms Eltanal is very nice, friendly and always smiles when talking. Yanis at front desk is a great guy and very helpful. Very happy experience here! Definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

The Cantlie Hotel ticks all the boxes for the perfect downtown “heart of Montreal” experience. The location is absolute perfection, the staff is friendly, the breakfast and dinner is convenient and healthy, and the rooms are clean, quiet and generously sized. It has a modern feel with an old world charm. The best kept secret is the refreshing rooftop pool with picturesque views of the city skyline. You can have it all here without leaving the premises.

I booked this hotel for my elderly parents, it was super affordable and they said the customer service was exceptional! The staff at the front desk were incredibly helpful with helping them get around the city and even calling them a taxi. We will definitely be booking this hotel again for our next trip to Montreal!

Worse hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel very often and have never seen such a mess of a hotel. First of all we checked in and the rooms were disgusting. The toilet had hair on them and was really nasty. When told to the lobby manager he was very disrespectful and didn’t help to resolve our issue, instead he was very rude and would walk away when he heard something he didn’t like. (Francisco) was the lobby manager at the time of our stay. We couldn’t even sleep due to the dirty mess in the room and were worried of bed bugs. DO NOT TRUST THE STARS THEY HAVE ON GOOGLE. they should be a 1 star hotel. Worse experience of my life!

Nice suites, excellent location, helpful and friendly staff. Walked to old Montreal port in about 33 minutes. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. Parked off premises at Stanley Park which has in/out privileges.

Would have given 5 stars if I know the bar and restaurant were closed before my stay. The AC in the room was not the best either considering how hot it was during our stay. Pool was very small and packed. Staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions. I honestly liked the hotel just think my stay would have been a little better under different circumstances

The condition of the rooms were very bad. Bed sheets, linens were dirty.(saw blood spots on my sheets). The sofa bed was broken and after a week they charged us again for damages $650 without notice!!! Toilet was horrible and were hair and black spots on toilet seats . Ambience was very bad nothing comparable to the pictures on the website. Everything was a lie on their website. Could not stay a single night but paid 4 nights in advance which was not repaid. The lobby man(Fransisco) was the meanest guy i’ve ever seen. very rude , unprofessional and unhelpful man!!! Overall a horrible experience for few hours. DON’T TRUST THEM ! DON’T give them your bank card informations !!!

Awesome hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. There is a heated outdoor pool on the roof that has amazing views of the mountain and city. The room itself was beautiful with comfy beds and very spacious. Located only a short walk away from all the great downtown destinations.

Travelled from Vancouver, BC and stayed at Le Hotel Cantlie with my husband and 2 teenagers for three nights. The location was amazing, steps away from Peel Metro Station, two blocks from St. Catherine street and very close to many great restaurants. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful in every way. We asked for late check out on our last day as our flight was a bit later, but they were not able to grant it. General cleanliness of the hotel was great and they followed covid protocols. Kids really enjoyed the rooftop pool. Our room was amazing! Lots of space for a family. We had a suite with the French doors. Two beds in the room and a pull out couch in the living room. We had a full kitchen, microwave, fridge and stove with dining table. The only complaint I had was that there was no fan in the washroom and the water pressure in the shower was low, otherwise bright with good lighting. We requested daily housekeeping and our housekeeper did an amazing job of cleaning and giving us clean towels and toiletries. Overall I would give this hotel a 4/5. The value was great for the price we paid. I would totally recommend it to my friends and family.

For the price of the accommodation, we felt like we got excellent value. We booked a Jr Queen Suite but got upgraded to a one bedroom suite. Beds were comfortable, facility was clean and rooms are spacious. Very close to a lot of different amenities.

Such a great hotel - and to think it was the same price as the one I stayed in for a week. A fully equipped kitchen. Large comfortable rooms. Housekeeping even during Covid. A pool on the roof - even if the weather wasn’t conducive for tanning. Had a lovely stay will return in the future.

  • 5/5 angela s. 2 years ago on Google
The reviews on here were a mixed bag so I was nervous. We stayed 5 nights - there were so many towels and so many amenities in our room we didn’t even need to get room turnover (despite very attentive polite housekeeping staff asking if we did) beds were comfy, sheets clean. The room was itself was clean, kitchenette was great (only complaints are that the fire alarm in the room is sensitive so it went off every time we toasted bagels 😅 and the temperature/water pressure in the shower was kinda unpredictable ) the most dated things were the wall paper (peeling lightly around the windows) and the tub/shower in the bathroom but who cares! Location was central, check in a breeze. Haven’t even checked out yet but 💯 would stay again!

For my first time back in Montreal in years, this hotel was great. Perfect location very close to all sorts of entertainment downtown. The valet service is a big plus, with a very kind, patient, and careful driver. The reception and staff are all very accommodating and welcoming. The room was super comfortable with a luxurious feel and plenty of room to lounge around when you’re not exploring the city. The rooftop pool is also a must visit when it’s not busy. Overall a great stay!

This hotel has a great restaurant and is very well maintained and cleaned. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is helpful and kind and speak English. The only downside was the pool, it is strange in that the water level is very low, and the exit handle-ladders are loose and sink when you step on them to exit the pool. My family member was hurt by this as their weight smashed the ladder down onto their hand due to this instability. Other than that, the top terrace is very nice, with lounge chairs and warm towels available. Located near many restaurants and shops and easy to reach Subway system.

I stayed at Hotel Cantlie Suites in April 2022. I loved my stay there in so many ways. The staff were wonderful; polite, friendly and so helpful. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff lovely. I loved the coffee and asked for extra so I could enjoy extra cups during the day.

Fabulous staff. Extremely helpful and welcoming each time we came back to the hotel. Rooms very comfortable with fantastic views of the mountains especially the change of the trees in the fall. Excellent location for museums, restaurants, transport and shops. Great value for money. Been their many times. Never disappointed.

We enjoyed our two-day stay at hotel le Cantlie. Very polite and friendly staff. The hotel has a parking valet in the back and charges $28 per night for parking. They have breakfast buffet for $25 per person which we didn’t try. The room was pretty clean. The mattresses were super soft and uncomfortable comparing to hotels that generally use firm mattresses. The rooms didn’t have mini fridges, so we couldn’t keep any food in the room. It’s in a nice area close to restaurants and McGill University and St Catherine street. You can walk around the block to restaurants and st Catherine.

Our absolute favorite in Montreal for its location, room quality and the excellent service of all staff! Valet parking is also excellent. With Expedia, we are lucky to get free upgrades and the suites are just so spacious and comfortable! The only item that needs an upgrade is the shower fixture, which is a bit outdated and tricky to adjust for temperature. Notwithstanding, very highly recommended!

I stayed in one of the suites. They were clean and spacious. I will stay there again and I will definitely recommend this hotel too. The rooftop pool was fantastic, too, and the service was A1!

I was expecting a better room. There is a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave, no stove. Description on website is a little deceptive. Location is great close to st Catherine st., and not far from old montreal.

Excellent in terms of its facilities and location, but bad experience in terms of its breakfast. I went to its Le Mezz Bistro Bar, which provides a buffet-style breakfast. The menu says $24.5 per person, but it ended up charging me $32.5 per person. I understand that the tax and the service fee are included, but there is a $7 price difference, which is ridiculous. The number just doesn't add up. Finally, I realized that they had automatically added the tax fee and the gratuity fee for about 15%. I'm furious about the charge. First, the gratuity fee is charged automatically and even you can't refuse it. It is not even disclosed in their menu before you enter the restaurant. The waitress has kindly shown us that on their menu, it says that 'the service fee is not included.' I don't find this is a good excuse. Most restaurants would have the same notice on their menu, but they won't charge it automatically. As I take it, it just means that the food price doesn't include the service fee, but it still allows customers to adjust the tip based on the service they receive. But here, you can't decide how much you pay and whether you pay for the tip. Lastly, if the service were good, I would be happy to pay for it even though it was charged without notice. However, sadly, there was even no or rare service at all. The only service is that the waitress would collect your dishes once in a while (not in a timely manner). If I could choose, I might pay 10% for this but would not pay as high as 15%. I have inquired the waitress and the receptionist about the charge, and the only response is that this is their policy/custom/culture. Fair enough. The breakfast experience ruined my stay in this hotel, and I wouldn't come again. P.S. The options for the buffet are quite limited and not worth $24.5. If you are not in a hurry or not stuck in the building because of the bad weather like I am, you have better options nearby.
