I
was
thoroughly
appalled
by
my
recent
stay
at
the
Residence
Inn
SouthPark
in
Charlotte.
My
initial
encounter
with
this
property
was
nothing
short
of
a
nightmare.
The
moment
I
stepped
into
the
hotel,
an
overpowering
stench
of
mildew
assaulted
my
senses,
not
only
in
the
hallway
but
also
within
my
own
room.
This
was
simply
unacceptable.
This
is
particularly
given
the
fact
that
other
guests
have
apparently
been
complaining
about
this
in
online
reviews
going
back
months.
I
wish
I
had
read
those
reviews
prior
to
entering
this
property.
Incredibly,
the
situation
worsened.
The
following
morning,
I
ventured
to
the
gym,
only
to
find
that
the
air
conditioning
had
decided
to
take
a
vacation
of
its
own,
leaving
the
room
at
80
degrees
according
to
the
thermostat.
My
workout
became
an
exercise
in
sheer
discomfort.
Unfortunately,
the
horrors
didn’t
end
there.
On
the
second
day
of
my
stay,
the
noxious
stench
of
mildew
had
escalated
to
an
insufferable
degree,
now
mingling
with
an
absolutely
revolting
sewage
odor.
This
was
not
merely
disappointing;
it
was
unsanitary
and
wholly
unacceptable.
I
was
not
the
only
guest
to
complain
of
this
during
my
stay
according
to
the
front
desk
staff.
Despite
my
determination
to
have
breakfast,
the
olfactory
assault
in
the
hallway
intensified,
forcing
me
to
endure
a
nauseating
combination
of
mildew
and
sewage.
To
make
matters
worse,
the
stench
of
mildew
had
infiltrated
my
clothing
and
belongings,
leaving
an
indelible
reminder
of
my
stay.
To
add
to
my
discomfort,
there
was
another
unsettling
incident
involving
the
elevator.
When
I
attempted
to
return
to
my
room
on
the
third
floor
after
complaining
about
the
smell
to
management,
the
elevator
suddenly
embarked
on
an
erratic
journey.
It
took
me
and
another
guest
on
an
unexpected
ride,
ascending
to
the
8th
floor,
descending
to
the
7th,
then
ascending
again
to
the
8th,
only
to
finally
return
to
the
third.
This
unnerving
experience,
combined
with
everything
else
that
happened
during
my
stay,
left
me
incredibly
uncomfortable
and
concerned
for
my
safety.
Like
the
mildew
smell,
this
is
not
the
first
time
the
malfunctioning
elevator
has
been
mentioned
in
online
reviews.
Given
the
escalating
noxious
smells,
I
had
to
cut
my
stay
at
the
Residence
Inn
SouthPark
in
Charlotte
a
day
short.
This
is
honestly
the
worst
hotel
I've
ever
visited.
I
implore
you
not
to
stay
at
this
property
and
thereby
avoid
this
appalling
situation.
As
a
devoted
Marriott
Bonvoy
member,
I
hold
the
Marriott
brand
to
the
highest
standards.
This
experience
was
an
egregious
betrayal
of
those
expectations.
