Just had a large cod and chips and it wasn't very good, the fish which is now very expensive was a long but very slender fillet, more like a mini fish, definetly not worth the money. The large chips was plentifull but made up of 40% tiny chip bits, it can't be that hard to sort this out before it gets to the fryer, all in all not worth the money which is such a shame as this used to be the chip shop in Bicester.I won't be using them again!

Was in the area recently as a half way stop on a longer trip and came across this place with the help of Google. Really glad we made the effort to go there as the food was fresh and really well priced. Despite being a huge queue it moved incredibly quickly and we were served our (large and not that simple) order as quickly and efficiently as if we'd been the only people there. Staff great and brilliant parking area right out side.

Was a great chippy now waaaaay over priced. Price also differs between in shop and online ordering, then a hefty delivery charge to boot. Shame won't be returning. Its just fish and chips not gold come on guys.

best chippy around bar none.. Always great no matter what I get. They deliver too and despite a few forgotten drinks (seems to be the norm with most take away deliveries??) its always still as tasty as if id got it myself. keep it up guys and stay safe..

I am not normally one to post and a formal complaint has been made too, but I am so upset and so shocked at how I’ve just been treated. I just want to raise some awareness and remind everyone to just be kind because you don’t know what that other person is going through. I did an online order to collect dinner at barberry fish and chips on bure park tonight. My family have always used them and they’ve always been very good with both service and quality. We got home and one part of the order was missing, it was my main and I was so looking forward to it, so back we go. However, the attitude I was greeted with! The member of staff called Nicky kept saying to other staff “ I 100% made the wrap, I 100% put it in the bag” and kept talking about me infront of me as if I couldn’t hear. Now as someone with autism and anxiety it took a lot of guts to even go back and ask. So I turned around and spoke up and said “you may have 100% made it but mistakes happen and it’s 100% not in our order. I am not a liar”. Nicky then turned around and said “it’s rude to be a liar”. Well thank you for ruining my evening Nicky. Thank you for making me now even more anxious, knocking my confidence and self esteem even more and unlikely to be able to do things alone by myself like collect orders until I’ve built up my trust and confidence again. Again, all I’d like to say to Nicky and any shop staff is to not talk about customers right in front of them and to remember people have a lot going on. You don’t know who is autistic, who has severe mental health concerns, and other extra needs or even who is just having a hard or bad day! So please just remember to be kind to everyone as you don’t know what people are going through.

Best fish and chips for miles and the service is always first class. Being able to book online then collect is a great option too.

Normally excellent service but unfortunately this evening 14/08/23 my daughter placed and collected an order only to find part of the order missing.I returned with my daughter to point out the fact that part of the order was missing, only to be told by Nicky one of the staff on duty that it was 100% correct when she packed it and accused my daughter of telling lies in front of other customer's. Please check your orders when collecting the way that this was handled was very badly and Nicky especially needs to work on her customer service.

What an amazing group of people after ringing around almost all the take aways within 4.5 miles of the layby i am stuck in these guy promptly delivered with out moaning. The XL Kebab was one of the best i have had(and i have had a fair few) the chips were perfect and the burger was excellent. Will def be calling them again.

This has been my favourite fish and chip shop for over 15 years! It's so good that we make a point of going there when we visit our daughter who still lives quite close, even though we moved 3hr drive away 9 yrs ago! Still not found a better one! Ps Must try the chicken kebab meat with chips!

Service was great but sadly the chips not so much this time. Lots of rather small bitty chips along with a few proper sized chips, most of which were not quite as well cooked as one might expect. I also had a burger which was nice enough, ok but certainly nothing special. Overall not a terrible experience but somewhat disappointing as I used to consider this to be one of the best in bicester.

Disappointed usually have nice fish and chips but today was horrible socked and swimming in oil couldn't eat it, and my husband had kebab but they forgot to put salat in it he's only noticed at home so shame hope just was a difficult day and next time will be better

Haven’t been to this fish and chip shop for quite awhile so we called here tonight . The fish was cod and it was so dry and chewy I had to leave it . Probably the worst fish I have had to date looked like it had been sat for a while . I know not to use again as it wasn’t worth the money

Been coming here for years and it’s always been packed. Always a good sign.food has always been hot, tasty and fresh. Can’t complain. One thing I did notice this evening on a Friday…. Whilst waiting for some fried chicken to cook, there was a 5 minute window when it went quiet. Every single staff member(maybe 8 of them) was doing something productive whilst waiting for new customers. Cleaning the tops, filling the vinegar bottles, bringing box’s to the counter. Sweeping up. Etc. Well done employees. Myself as a multiple business owner. It looks absolutely fantastic and the boss should be proud. Great stuff.

Great chip shop! Definitely best in Bicester. Food is always hot and stays hot, no plastic wrappers, great tasting chips with good portion sizes and a great selection on the menu. All food is nice and the staff are very friendly. Prices are good too.

It's always busy so often there's a bit of a wait. But we're talking ten minutes max, and that's surely a testament to the quality of the food, right?! Update: there's no queuing system. Like a rail or something. The door is central so it's not clear which way to go, or how to queue. There was a misunderstanding today, and I stepped in to resolve it. Was I aggressive? I didn't think so, but felt super uncomfortable afterwards. Ruined the experience to be honest. Would appreciate some sort of system or direction.

It's a good fish bar

Dropped in 5pm on a Friday, very busy as you'd expect. However, I had paid for my three meals and back in my car in what felt like 5 minutes. Great food, expensive yet reflected in the portion size. Speedy service given the time of day. Nowhere else in the area comes close.

Loved it, great fast service, hot food and nice amount of salt and vinegar. Good portion size for price.

Staff are very polite, all adhering to Covid-19, my main dissatisfaction was the size of a large cod, I would say it looked very undersized and a bit greasy in comparison to other local chip shops but it was tasty.

Since the loss of The Codfather van from Ambrosden I've preferred tracking them down to eating local but Boris' restrictions aren't supportive of that for a few weeks...so I've bought from Barberry a couple of times recently - foods ok as it has been throughout my 13 years of Bicester life BUT I hadn't seen the price hike coming ...eight or nine pounds for a fish and chip supper seems like a significant rise during the pandemic...has Rishi introduced a fried food tax that I've missed?

Always reliable chippy, have used them for years, trying out others in bicester every now and then to see if they are still on top, which they are. The queues at the door show how popular it is so recommend the online ordering service, simple to use and saves hanging around outside or get it delivered. Chips are never soggy and the batter on the fish is excellent. All the usual extras are available with kebabs (really good) and chicken which I haven't tried. Don't want to cook but need to be careful with cash in these crazy times, have a chippy tea from here

Just ordered a mixed kebab asked if it was chicken shish and lamb so I asked for donner meat aswell. BBQ sauce chili sauce chilli peppers and salad. What I got was dry bland Donner meat no chicken no lamb no chili's no chili sauce, tomatoes were horrible tasted off, nearly a whole onion which I guess you expect cuz all kebab shops seem to do it but still. Will not be going back

Since someone got in a pickle and turned the row of shops inc the chippy on the Bucknell Rd into a demolition site, we've had to go a further afield. First impressions are not bad. Decent sized portions and effecient staff. Will use again.
