there's something so satisfying eating here knowing that the guy you had an unreasonable crush on is a huge loser and if you're in love with a loser that makes you one too, so just ghost the guy and take yourself out to eat salmon and enjoy the fact that your brain is quiet now not having to psychoanalyze a person who just doesn't like you, the food is good

The two people in our group who had ground beef based dishes (the burger and the bacon-wrapped meatloaf) had food poisoning and threw up later that night. The person who had the fish also felt ill. The only “safe” dishes were the chicken and the sweet potato fries. Obviously, we’re not coming back again, because dinner never tastes good when it’s going back the other way.

The gruyere dip was really good. The burger was decent; I wouldn't order again. Many places with a much better burger. The chicken sandwich was good. The Mac and cheese was light and good. Cocktails were pretty good. Service was friendly and prompt. I would go back to try dinner and the beer next time.

I have been a long time fan of Uncommon Ground and because of that, I reached out directly to management - twice - without response. Because of that, I am posting this as a formal review, but wanted to reach out to express my extreme disappointment with our last visit. We arrived at 10:45 and left at 1:10 - not by choice but because it took almost 2 hours for our food to come out. We understand that the chef had some medical challenges and the kitchen was backed up - which is extremely unfortunate and I really hope that the chef is OK. I also understand that our waiter was both waiting tables and doing dishes. The day was not the best for the restaurant, for sure. I used to be a server so I have a great deal of empathy for the staff and know that today was difficult on everyone. However, there were some very critical breakdowns that aren’t really acceptable in my mind. First: we had to flag our waiter down multiple times to get drink refills. On everything from mimosas to water to coffee to soda. Second: we were not proactively told that the kitchen was backed up. I had to flag the waiter down again only to hear that he would check. 10 minutes later he came back stating it would be another 15 minutes…which turned out to be about 35 minutes. All in all, we waited an excessive amount of time for our food. Third: one of the members at my table asked about the food again before it arrived only to get some pretty significant disregard for our concern and a nominal apology at best. In fact, it felt more like he was shaming us for asking when he should’ve proactively told us the situation well in advance of us having to ask. Fourth: when the food finally came, we asked for the check, only to fully finish our meals, have 3 of the 4 of us take bio breaks and still not have the check. I personally had to go inside and find our waiter to get it. Fifth: I ordered the farmers scramble only to get a pile of scrambled eggs and a few ingredients put on top. That does not constitute a scramble by definition. My potatoes were also over cooked as were one of the other guests at my table. And last, but not least, we received no real apology or discount or comp of any kind for the situation. We felt very disrespected by the waiter - and almost judged for our frustration. This situation has left a very bad taste in our mouth for the 4 of us and I am not sure how quick any of us will return. I value local business and the Uncommon Ground model in particular—but this experience (and the lack of follow-up) was not an acceptable visit in any way.

It was a pretty unfortunate experience from the start. I am unsure whether they’re severely understaffed or if the bartender/server was just overwhelmed but she was pretty standoffish to begin with. No one came to the door so I approached the bar and asked if I could sit there. She coldly informed me not unless I had my vaccination card and ID. As I try to immediately show her my proof she walks away to attend to other people- which I thought was weird since it seemed of the utmost importance when I walked in. I order my food and am not told that I’ve ordered things that are larger portions even though I ordered the small version. When I comment on the portion size and that it wasn’t what I was expecting the server/bartender said, “yep. You’ve got your work cut out for you.” But I feel as though had she taken 2 extra minutes to talk to me about the menu (it was my first time) it could have been avoided. One of the things I ordered was the Buffalo cauliflower dish and it was NOT what I expected. It was basically oily cauliflower with a squeeze of lemon juice. I communicated to the staff that the dish was a bit misleading from what the menu stated and what I received. This new server/bartender says “I’ll let the kitchen know” but how does that help me? I’ve already received a dish I didn’t like and there’s no offer to rectify the situation. The new bartender/server proceeds to tell me that I must close my check out as my previous server is getting ready to leave. This is after I’ve requested to keep my check open. After I close my check my server proceeds to sit at the bar and talk about 420 versus 422 (420 too) and just have pointless conversation. I guess my issue is that if she’s still going to be hanging out why would I need to close my tab out? So all in all I received mediocre service, misleading food, and paid for things I really didn’t enjoy. Save your money, friends! There are better breweries in the area that have great service, better prices and consistent food.

Felt a little average. Outdoor seating / service / drinks were great. Food was just OK. Folks around us did not seem to be enjoying their meals either. Eggs Benedict were dry.

My partner had the burger and got violently ill later in the evening - horrible vomiting. We called to let them know and ask for a potential refund or some remedy and haven’t heard back yet although it’s been three days. I also ordered salmon that was marked as being gluten free, but was served with wheat berries. I’m not celiac thankfully so I just picked around them, but that seems like a huge menu oversight. Our server was pleasant, but management doesn’t seem to care about their customer’s health.

I always love supporting this local farm-to-table restaurant. The outdoor seating is bordered by what looks to be edible vegetation. The inside is covered with beautiful art. Even with an afternoon Cubs game we were able to be seated without issue. We enjoyed the Chop Salad and the Greens and Grains salad. They are sizeable portions. I also enjoyed a mocha BOWL (think mocha served like soup covered in whipped cream)!!)

Walked here for dinner before a comedy show at The Annoyance Bar & Theater. Enjoyed their craft beer selection and wife enjoyed their "uncommon ground" coffee. Food choices were varied and we each ate it all up. Definitely received for a night in Wrigleyville!

We happened to pass this gem on our way to a sushi restaurant. My wife read organic brewery on the window and we decided to stop on our way back to the train after dinner. We had the best experience here! It started with the host greeting us and making us feel welcome. It seemed that he was slightly confused because we were asking some fairly odd (odd because they probably should have been obvious!) questions, such as “Is this a coffee shop? Can we sit down?” He took it in stride and realized we didn’t know what we actually walked into. Turns out this place is a brewery AND a roaster of fine coffee! My wife had the chai, our friend had a slightly(!) adult beverage, and I had a stout. We also ordered the bread pudding. I highly recommend the stout. Absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the bread pudding and the chai as well, but, damn! I’m going to go back for that stout! If you happen to be wondering around Wrigleyville and you need coffee and beer and bread pudding and a great time, stop by Uncommon Ground. You will not regret it. We sure as hell didn’t.

Uncommon Ground (the Central Perk of Chicago??) has good food and great service, but I wasn't down with the horrible 80's music and vibe (Michael Jackson-- three freaking songs, no less-- and "The Boss" can die horrible musical deaths for all I care). Food: vegan hash and the chilaquiles were both tasty and with a kick to them. Coffee was decent as well. The seats were uncomfortable though.

Made a reservation, sat down to dinner, and they didn't have live music, not a big deal, but wasn't serving any entrees, which is why we came. Then they were out of the cauliflower starter, sweet potato fries, and tomato soup, which we tried to order, so who knows what else. We went to the bathroom while waiting, and I bet the liquor store bathroom next door was cleaner. It was absolutely disgusting. We had ordered the calamari starter, and we waited an hour for it. It cost $21 for a couple little pieces of calamari on top of a bed of greens that would give you food poisoning. I've never walked out of a restaurant, but we paid for a decent beer and a very disappointing starter and left. It sounded like such a cool place. Disappointing on literally every level.

Food was great just missing a little bit of flavor, specially the mac & cheese. Comparing food to other restaurants in chicago. Service was outstanding with very friendly staff. Atmosphere was chill with pleasant vibe both indoor and outdoor.

Nothing breaks my heart more than a poorly poached Benny. I’ll give them another shot though. 10/10 on the artichoke dip. It’s a must!

Visited the lake view location before a Cubs game a week ago. Outstanding service. Excellent food - such a fresh selection and super cool art vibe. Don’t miss the roasted cauliflower- Chicken sandwich was soooo good. Will definitely return!

I was here earlier this week and had an incredible dinner. This spot is nestled into Wrigleyville, and was a pleasant contrast to many nearby spots that provide a lot of pub grub and barbecue. All of our food was absolutely wonderful and the ambience was perfect for the chilly winter night. The tempura fish tacos were unbelievably good and tastes so very fresh. My family members with me also had a great meal experience, they tried the meatloaf, tomato soup/grilled cheese, and vegetarian chili. YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO TRY THE SWEET POTATO FRIES WITH THE WARM GOAT CHEESE TO DIP THEM IN!!! We had a great time here and will certainly be back

The gnocchi in a pesto sauce is a must try! It's DELICIOUS! The vegan stirfry was disappointing - half the ingredients were missing. But the waitress was courteous enough to knock it off our bill. The beer was good - it was a coffee stout that we ordered. Very Good service. We enjoyed it overall and will definitely be back.

Recently came here for a wedding rehearsal party. We had a ton of people and our server Luis was just incredible. Our party was so indecisive and took forever to order but he was so patient and kind the entire time. Delicious food, awesome cocktails, but I’ll be returning for the great service. Highly recommend.

We went here on Tuesday night and we were immediately seated. Although the service was slightly slow, it was not a big deal because there were very busy and trying their best. We got a beer, couple of cocktails, the super food salad, the risotto (which is surprisingly vegan), miso cauli and my boyfriend got the chicken. The food and drinks were really good and our server was the nicest. They even gave us a complimentary dessert to compensate for the wait...which was really appreciated. I would definitely go back to try the vegan burger.

Burger was ok, Nothing special. The cake in the red velvet cake was a bit dry but ok. The beer flight was nice. Maybe the other food options are better…

A solid dinner option. Snagged the smash burger and the chopped salad with a side of mac n' cheese. The salad was amazing! I thought the burger was good but it was tough to keep it together to eat. I think they should consider serving two or three smaller burgers together of the same style. Did get some dessert and the lemon tart was the best! I may have to come back just for that! Solid choice for some yummy dinner.

Enjoyed my time at Uncommon Ground! The food was good and came out very quickly, the service was phenomenal (our server was super friendly and had some awesome recommendations!), and the environment as very chill. My only (slightly) negative sentiment is that the prices did not quite correlate with the quality of the food. I thought the prices were a little high for the size/quality of what we ordered. Overall, a nice brunch spot!

Stopped in for an open mic and drink. Uncommon Ground has some terrific beer options, so I opted for an APA. Supportive crowd, and one song each for the performers (there were a lot).

To be fair they were understaffed or slacking off (I'm not sure which one). Long wait times and it wasn't very busy. Menu items were out of stock and only told this after ordering and waiting for food to arrive. Mac and cheese was good that's about it. Everything else not worth mentioning. Coffee was good when made right, we found it to be inconsistent. I was looking forward to this place. Sucks that it wasn't good. We did brunch/lunch, maybe dinner is better.

Excellent brunch food and bloody marys. The Ham and Cheese stuffed french toast was amazing - though I do still prefer their classic Benedict.

For my husbands birthday he wanted “Meatloaf and mashed potatoes” and boy did we find it! We’d never been here before, but the entire time we were there we were already talking about coming back to try new food items. Food and drinks were great and the ambiance was nice too. Everything tasted very fresh and home cooked. We’ll be back! 😊
