Adjacent to Columbus Dr and Lake Shore Dr is good for Chicago community events like Summer Dance held seasonally for Chicagoans and visitors alike. It's nicely kept except after events where the pigious visitors who don't care, leave their garbage spewn for the city to clean up. Nicely lit even after dark. Only downside, parking. Hard to find and expensive.

Never had a bad time here, but never done more than walk by on an off night, either. Nice places to sit and watch the world go by, and the sculpture and engravings are stunning.

Bring a seat. Bring a cookout. Bring your moving shoes! SummerDance here is an awesome time! Ideal for people watching and cutting to various types from Salsa to Stepping to R&B. Fun occasions for loved ones.

I love coming here for SummerDance! The dance floor they set up is pretty adequate for dancing. The atmosphere of the park is nice, and it's really pleasant just sitting and listening to the live music when not dancing. Food prices weren't unreasonable. Only qualm could be that the nearby water fountain doesn't taste very good, but that's pretty much the case all over the city and I generally brought my own water anyway.

For anyone still thinking Chicago at night is threatening and crime ridden.
