It provided an easy way to cross the river. It's a bridge! WTF was it supposed to do... sing to me?

If you need to cross the Chicago River and aren't feeling in a LaSalle Street sort of mood, this is the way to go.

The Clark Street Bridge is one of the numerous crossings of the Chicago River. Originally, a floating bridge in 1840, what you see today is a bascule bridge completed in 1929. You can see the bridge up close as part of the Chicago Riverwalk which passes below. There is also a large seating area called the River Theater on the south bank just west of the bridge if you just want to have a seat and enjoy being on the river near the Clark Bridge Street. Views across of the historic red brick Reid Murdoch Building are pretty good from here as well. Or just walk over the bridge and view it from either side at street level.
