Dam landscape view was excellent, dam was not well maintained. Pothundi Dam is an irrigation dam near Pothundi village in the Palakkad district of Kerala state, India. Constructed in the 19th century, it is considered one of the oldest dams in India. The dam is located en route to Nelliyampathy Hills. A beautifully landscaped, well-maintained dam garden beckons visitors at the entrance. With a plethora of rides and manicured trees and plants, the garden is built to provide happiness to children and elders alike. Spanning the garden will take one to the toe of the dam. The steps to the crest of the dam might look strenuous, but it’s worth the effort. A stunning view of Nelliyampathy Hills awaits visitors at the top. Take a stroll along the crest to get a panoramic view of the reservoir in the backdrop of the hills on one side and green paddy fields on the other.

This beautiful dam is situated at the foothills of Nelliampathi. A beautiful garden is also arranged here. It is better to reach here in the morning, it is a quiet and peaceful place to relax and take a short walk. Those who are going to see Nelliampathi must visit this place.

Located around 42 km from Palakkad town, the earthen dam was built in the 19th century using a mixture of jaggery and quick lime instead of the usual concrete. Nestled at the foothills of Nelliyampathy Hills, the dam provides irrigation across 5,470 hectares in Palakkad district and caters to the drinking water needs of Nemmara, Ayalur and Melarcode panchayats. Constructed across Padipuzha and Meenichiladipuzha rivers, the dam forms a reservoir covering an area of 30km. The dam is located en route to Nelliyampathy Hills. Having a kids playing area which is good. The zip line is at the end of garden and they do have an archery area. Have to climb stairs to reach the dam view. Careful about snakes inside the drainage throughout the dam view area. Carry an umbrella if it’s a rainy season. They have a well maintained garden. Have only one entrance opened.

A Mesmerizing Gateway to Nelliyambathi Forest! Pothundi Dam holds its own charm and uniqueness as it serves as the gateway to the stunning Nelliyambathi forest. The experience of walking across the dam top offers mesmerizing glimpses and breathtaking views from various points and the top station, overlooking the water reservoir. A stop by and visit while enroute Nelliyampathy hills. Nice warm place to spend some quality time with family. The walk and the view of the reservoir is good. From the top of the dam, you can see the hill road in distance. Usually, the water level will be less unless heavy monsoon. However, you are not allowed to enter the waterbody.

Beutiful garden, really wide dam, childrens park...., ice cream store, peacefull atmosphere, adventure spots for youngsters and children... All at once❤... For entry need tickets, that is'nt costly enough and the best part is the place worth soo much than the ticket price... There is few speakers that will play music all the day... Well cleaned Toilet is there right next to the entrance..don't forget to keep change with u to use the toilet😁. One thing we will miss is the absence of water falling shutters... Yes there is no such sutters to open.. All there is a valve like thing which is quite small... But the natural beauty and the garden is the main highlight. U can really make use of the place for a photoshoot😁... Place blessed by mother nature🗻.. Hope u guys will enjoy tooo... And i hope that u will not forget to drop a like below😊.
