Nice accommodations but they gave our spot away. They want $60 extra to meet sure that doesnt happen. Seems dishonest to me. If they need the money that bad they should just charge it up front. I have some disability and t he "comparable" spot they gave us was about as far from the amenities as possible. They would be happy to RENT us a golf cart. More $. This place is very expensive. Probably nice for rich families. A disappointment to me. Oh yes,the shuttle to attractions only runs 3 days a week and goes to two attractions. Over promoted.

This is a hidden gem! The cottages are beautiful and fully equipped. The swimming pool /splash pad is heated and awesome. The food was amazing and reasonable. Entertainment nightly and plenty of activities daily to do. Clean and really friendly staff. This is a must see place. Reserve your spot and enjoy a 5 star resort!!

I am an avid RV’er my wife and I camp on a regular basis, especially in the San Diego area since we live in Southern California. Although this campsite is beautiful, the service at this place is horrible. My most recent experience with this resort and pauline, and their reservation policies to nickel and dime the customer. I had reservations in September, and just a few weeks before my reservation. My mother passed away unexpectedly. I called to cancel my reservation 12 days before my trip so I could go to my mothers funeral. I was told by Pauline there was $100 charge because it was not within two weeks and there was nothing she could do about it. This, of course is not true since I have stayed at dozens of resorts all over Southern California, Arizona and Utah. I moved my reservations out so I can try and make it out there on another date, but due to Pauline‘s attitude over the phone, it has not been sitting well with me. So I called to cancel my reservations completely and ask for a manager to give me a call back. This of course upset and the other person that I was dealing with on the phone who acted inconvenienced an angry. I told her I would probably be writing a review about the resort and she told me to go ahead and do what I got to do. Then she proceeded to hang up on me before confirming that she canceled my reservation.

We liked the place a lot, but unfortunately looks like we’re not coming back. we got sprayed with foam because next RV was cleaned with power washer, during our breakfast!!! The guy didn’t do anything to say sorry, nor excuse me!!! We paid almost 200$ with resort fee and extras for premium side just to sit by RV car wash it’s not RV resort ( if someone need to have RV washed maybe should go to truck wash prior to arriving to RV resort ) it’s our vacation too. Over all place is nice and people working there are super nice.

Sun Outdoor is a very new resort in Chula Vista. The entrance is gated. 2pm check in is controlled via the closed gate. The attendants are cheerful and helpful. When I arrived at 2pm there were three people conducting check in. All were wearing masks. They provided a wristband that opened the gates, showers and laundry. The laundry machines require payment via a phone app. It was painless. The resort's sites are beautiful, concrete pads, gravel landscape, gas fire pits, lawn furniture, awesome. There's a market, pool, activity rooms, all new, clean, attractive. Wifi worked well for me. I had 4-bar, 5G AT&T service.

We have stayed at the resort for two separate week-long stays in our motorhome. The RV resort is wonderful. The RV sites are wide, level and fully equipped with for full hookup. We use the gym daily and find it well maintained and clean. The resort is easy on/off of I-5 and is only minutes from downtown. This is our go-to place to stay when visiting the San Diego area.

Absolutely awesome…I stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage everything you need is there besides food … the place is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. Especially clean …. the front desk accommodated my health issues and let my nurse team come and take care of me while I stayed here. I 1000 percent recommend. If you’re chronically ill and need to go someplace local for a staycation I highly recommend Sun Outdoors. Staff is wonderful !!! I will be back 💚💚💚

Love this place. Brand new as of 2021. Glamping at it's best. Lovely club house, 2 stories with restaurant/bar downstairs and firepit upstairs with views of the bay. Nice swimming pool, hot tub, game room, video game room, exercise room. Outside big screen TV with lounge chairs, heaters. Trails for walking and biking on the bay. Full hookups with a picnic table. Animal friendly. Kid friendly with a playground. Restaurant not fancy but food is good. Bar is good too!

Okay, this place is gorgeous for an RV park, the pool is amazing and it has a cafe and bar which are great. Unfortunately, they allow rigs with outdoor televisions and you end up paying $150 a night just to listen to your neighbors sit outside, drink beer, and yell at the television screen. Also quite a bit of freeway noise from I-5 less than a quarter mile away.

Great place for families. If you are looking for a quiet site to stay with a large pool this is it. Lots of amenities! loved the fact it has a playground for kids. It’s kept clean and has accessible restrooms without having to go back to the cottage. There is room for improvement but nothing so bad. The cottage we stayed at was #25 the main room is just by the street light which at night light comes into the room and that was just the only negative point I give. My suggestion is to add blinds to the top windows to resolve this issue. Also, we had ants on the last day of our stay. Overall the place is new.

We love coming here and staying in the cottages. Staff is always friendly. Sometimes it is hard to reach them by phone though. Very clean resort. My only issue is we stayed on a weekend for the first time (usually less crowded during the week) and some jerks would come first thing in the morning and place towels and all their belongings on pool chairs, and then leave the rest of the day, eventually coming back later in the day to claim "their" spot. We witnessed about 10 groups of people doing this. Just think there should be something preventing this, otherwise next time they will come back to their towels on the ground in the splash pad and "their" seats taken.

Had a great 5 day, 4 night stay here. We had only planned for 4 days and 3 nights but wanted an extra day here. The amenities are all very nice, we used the jacuzzis (watched a football game from the jacuzzi) and pool was warm enough to use despite the cold temps the weekend we were there, the playground, both dog parks, attended a few of the site events, used the arcade, and of course the bar and cafe. The front desk staff and the groundskeepers were all very pleasant and accommodating. You can just text them and have someone come by with propane, or get an answer to a question. Although this is our first trip in our RV and in a RV resort, we plan to come back! The cottages look roomy and cute as well, recommending that to the in-laws if they want to join in next time ;) overall, excellent t place to vacation!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Can’t say enough about the staff we encountered. Very family oriented with many amenities. Sites were large, level and included all hook ups. There was also a picnic table and fire pit (propane was extra charge). Some sites included a bbq and small campus refrigerator. Restrooms and showers were very clean and regularly maintained. Food at Cafe was good, but be aware of the hours as they close early on Sunday, open late on Monday and are closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Walking distance to restaurants in town. You can also take the trolley into San Diego. The only downside was the weak Wifi. Will definitely return.

Awesome resort! We stayed here 3/8/22-3/15/22. It’s very new and is laid out nicely. The sites are quite spacious, we fit our 40 foot class A with a 20 foot trailer easily into our back in site with room to park our full size SUV. The site also had a nice gas fireplace with seating for 4 people, that was such a nice touch! They have two off lead dog areas that are very well maintained and cleaned every day. The pool is huge and having two hot tubs was awesome and never felt crowded. They have a restaurant and cool bar area. When we checked in we were given two tokens for free mimosas! The park felt extremely secure. With coded entry gate and 24/7 security patrol around the park. One thing we loved was that it always seemed like a staff member was always near by if you needed anything but never felt overbearing. The customer service was really top notch. It is a more pricey spot to stay but you definitely get what you pay for. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the San Diego area.

This is a good RV park for exploring San Diego and is close to a great 25 mile long bike path as well as a 10 minute walk from the trolley line. Be prepared for a lot of unsupervised children zipping around on motorized scooters and mini motorized bicycles. During the week, the resort is relatively quiet but on weekends it tends toward scooters and motorbikes and loud partying unfortunately. Staff are very pleasant and the resort is kept very clean. Lovely sunset viewing from the North balcony.

Wow! This place was great! Beautiful! Very modern, clean and had everything you can think of. Definitely a relaxing camping spot where you won't find any dirt. Plan to go to bed early because the place dies down as soon as the sun goes down. We visited on Mothers day Weekend and the only complaint I had would be that they allowed RV detailing with the noisy compressor soooo early in the morning. Not cool! Especially for us moms that were expecting a relaxing weekend, even maybe get to sleep in a bit. Not at all! For such an expensive park, I was shocked they allowed that.

Big resort/cruise ship vibes. You don't need to leave if you don't want to, that's how great this place is. The sites are clean and have more amenities that one can ask for. The cabins are great for those who don't have RVs. The pool...is a lagoon and heated! The staff is attentive and friendly.

Absolutely stellar resort with amenities galore. From the moment we entered the gates for registration the staff and other glampers were friendly and kind. The RV spaces were large and accommodating for even the largest rig with slides fully extended and still enough room to sit on the patio at the provided fire pit and dining set. The gorgeous San Diego sunset and backdrop of the SD Bay’s wildlife refuge was picturesque, just perfect for an upscale wedding we attended while at the resort’s venue. The wedding party and some of their guests stayed in the beautiful vacation rentals allowing for some quality family time, relationship building and creating warmest memories. Thank you Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay.

It was a beautiful RV park. Everybody has their own camping space, with fire pits. There are bathrooms and showers, which are very clean and safe. Also, on the property are bungalows, one and two bedrooms. The pool was nice and big. The kids had a ball, not to mention that there were bike ride parades with the lights. Fun Fun Fun. Nearby, we discovered a trail, and we rode our bicycles.

Beautiful resort with large, fully furnished RV sites. Washrooms are pristine, pool was really nice. Laundry was reasonably priced -- you need the payrange app to pay for washers&dryers. Staff are great -big shout-out to Joanne at the front desk and Kibb, who maintains the place. The first night we arrived late and the battery died on our tow car. We had to push it into our site after parking our RV. In the morning we discovered we had parked in the wrong site in the dark. Joanne assisted us and said she would get someone from maintenance to give us a battery boost. I called the front desk to follow up and the lady (not Joanne) who answered told me that "no, we don't do that" (provide boosts). Very unhelpful. Kibbs from maintenence arrived a minute later, gave us a boost, and we were able to move to our correct site. WIFI was awful, and given what guest were paying to stay here, I expected better. I read in a review from over a month ago that even the wifi you paid for was equally bad. Sun Outdoors said they would check with their provider, but obviously there's been no improvement. For this reason and the unhelpful woman at the front desk, I took away one star.

From the moment we arrived, I knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The Gateway Café was perfect. The staff was very attentive, and the food was great. Our site was large, and parking alongside our 44' Fifth Wheel was easy. Big Rig, friendly!!! Definitely will return!

We stayed in a cottage here at Sun RV San Diego for 1 month for the cost of around $8,000. During our stay, we eventually were able to arrange for housekeeping to clean our bathroom and provide clean linens each week at our request. Any other hotel or like-property would provide (at minimum) a weekly cleaning schedule. They had none. Yes, you read that correctly. The weekends here are absolute chaos with noise and people playing loud music and ignoring any rules posted. Kids and adults drove all around on scooters and other EV-type apparatus with no regard for pedestrians, pets, or the speed limit. The rules are randomly enforced, so why follow them? It was the wild west. This was our second year here because it is a nice place, but was the first time in a cottage. I do not recommend cottages for longer stays due to aforementioned lack of cleaning and linen service, but also there is no decent place to put your clothing and belongings...just a small hanging space and a bench. There is only a 2 burner cooktop and microwave so cooking is limited. The pool and restaurant are great. Most of the staff are nice. The rest is up to you to decide what your tolerance level is. They boast 14 miles of walking/biking trails but most are much, much shorter and all are disjointed. I'm not sure if that's due to construction nearby? We had high hopes for this place after our first stay but we were definitely a little disappointed this year.

This review is being written to acknowledge the customer-facing staff of this resort. We are here for the winter. During that time we have interacted with most everyone who works here. Front desk, maintenance, ranger, housekeeping, and hospitality have all been consistently welcoming and friendly. They all know how to take care of their guests. The park is clean and in great working order.

Don’t count on the WiFi it works only in certain sites. We purchase starlink while we were at sun outdoors. The pool never reached 82 while we were there for three months. The hot tubs worked most of the time. I reported the hot tub once and got a “yes I have known for a week” response. We had an RV across from us with 6 beagles that barked night and day. (2 per RV is their limit) And yes I did call about the above. The views are beautiful from some sites and the park is clean. Showers are clean and workout facilities are in great shape.

  • 5/5 John G. 11 months ago on Google
This park is well maintained and well run! The pads are level, so we just pulled up and unhooked! The jacuzzi was just the right temp as was the pool. Showers were clean and hot. A little pricey.

Nicest RV park ever. This place is truly a resort. We stayed here as a couple but it would have been even better with grandkids. Wow! So clean. So much do do. Oh that pool! Level. Easy to navigate in a big rig. Really nice.

  • 4/5 Glen K. 5 months ago on Google
Overall, a very nice RV park. Our only complaint is the wifi. The "Basic" free wifi is glitchy, so we had to consistently log-off and log back on. My daughter had school work, so we decided to pay for the "Premium" wifi. It ended up being even worse that the basic. When we contacted the front desk, we were told it's an outside company we contract with and would need to call them. In short, if you work remote and need consistent/quality access, I would think twice.

Great resort. Very luxurious. Welcome cocktail was a nice touch. Only downside for us Brits is that the laundry app doesn't work on a phone from the UK. If it wasn't for a member of staff kindly using his own phone I would have been stuck with 10 days of washing!

What an amazing time at the Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay! I stayed the weekend in a 2 bedroom vacation rental tiny home at this location and we had such a great experience. The rental home was very clean, well kept and I especially loved our roof deck where I watched a few sunrises and sunsets. Sun Outdoors SD Bay has several amenities that guests are able to use from the pool area, splash pad for the kids, arcade, and a gym. The staff at this location are friendly and resourceful. I would love to come back for another weekend staycation. Thank you!

The rv park is truly 5 star resort. Concrete pads, spacious sites, beautifully landscaped, two dog parks, heated pool, 2 hot tubs, staff pleasant, pool side bar and huge TV screen for the games. The negative is no free cable, the fire pits you have to buy propane tanks for them to work, no garbage pickup, and outrageous fee for outside guests to stop in for a few hours and have evening drink. It's still not enough to remove a star because everything else is so nice.

I'm a female dj just moved here from Florida and Michigan. My production company I'm starting in California, my business partner has a band that played here. It was great sound, beautiful sunset, great small community. Very friendly service with food and drinks. Great pool and overall comfortable. 👌 💘

Best time of our family memories were made here. Super super super clean place. Bathroom and showers within easy access. The staff is friendly and ready to help. I would give this place a 1 star because I don't want people to crowd this place as is one of my favorites to visit in SD.

Staff were very helpful, place was very clean. They draw a map on everyones check in packet to your site. The entire place is gated with a key card access required. Horseshoes, pickle ball, lighted basketball court, two medium size dog parks. Live music on Friday & Saturday night in the pool area. Tons of fire pits near the pool and upstairs. Staff was always friendly, pet our chocolate labs, and replaced our propane for the fire pits (premium site). 15 minutes away from dog beach, close to all the museums. Will stay again.

This place is great!!! The staff is amazing and accommodating. Totally made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We stayed in the 1 bedroom w/loft cottage and it was perfect for our family of 5 plus dog. The facility has so much to offer from their huge pool, arcade, game room, restaurant and bar, activities for both kids and adults daily, and dog parks. I highly recommend for a family getaway. Thank you Sun Ourdoors

Wow Excellent resort We will come back again. I will try to book the 2 bedrooms next time (if they’re are available) Super friendly staff/employees !!!! Love it !!!! 💖💖💖 Must bring friends and relatives here!!! So fun and cool 😎 Kids and adults will enjoy this resort. They have a restaurant with a bar. Gym Swimming pool arcades laundry room (they are missing a karaoke place…lol ) Kids playground Dog park It’s a gated resort, so you need to have that key in order to enter. Again Thank you for a wonderful and amazing resort !!!!!!!

This resort is amazing. Amenities are top notch. True resort lifestyle when staying here. Everything is wonderfully clean. Fire pits are amazing. Pool and hot tub were the cleanest water ever (very well maintained). Having the bar and restaurant at the pool is so nice. Whoever designed this new resort missed no detail. Everything is so well planned out. Money was spent to design this property to be very luxurious.

5+ stars. Everything is absolutely perfect and well thought out. Sites are large, so many activities, heated pool, arcade, views of the bay. Some sites have an outdoor grill. Cannot recommend enough. Sun outdoors is our favorite place to come! Please open one in Arizona that isn’t 55+ :)

Sitting here waiting to see if they can make the power work to the site. Arrived and there is no power… Yeah! They brought an adapter to the 30 amp and said someone will fix the power tomorrow. We were out of propane and they helped us out. And we got to see the most adorable puppy! Problems happen, but they have great customer service. Finally relaxation is on the horizon.

Just completed our 2nd stay at this amazing place. We come here just to escape from the stresses of our daily lives and always leave with big smiles on our faces. The workers here are world class. Frank and Seth in the bar Rock. Lisa does everything from drive around every AM delivering coffee and take guests to fun spots in San Diego in the tour bus. Guests are always having fun I’ve never seen so many smiling kids and dogs. Looking forward to our next stay!

It was all amazing, but the best part, was Raquel. She teaches many of the classes including water aerobics. Fyi the classes are included in your stay. She made each class so fun with her energetic personality! The bar staff was great too! Overall, we had a wonderful time! Not only will we be back (from AZ), but we are telling everyone we know about it! Thanks Sun Outdoors SDBay!

I can't say enough about this RV park. This is our second time staying there. The park is immaculate, clean does not begin to describe it. My only concern is the amount of chemicals in the hot tub. I ended up having to.visit the Dr. because I received a chemical burn that rashes my entire body. It's been a week and I'm still having to take medication from it. We did bring it to their attention when we were there, they seemed like they were going.to attend to it. However we were there for 3 more days and it was he same.

Let's start off with this is a great place to stay!! Someone did their homework in the building of this RV resort! The RV spaces are large, paved and level with extra space to park your vehicle! The space (204) we stayed in had a propane firepit with four Adirondack chairs and a picnic table. There are also two water nibs (helpful when you have a separate black tank flush connector and forgot your splitter). This location is secure with one entrance and a separate exit allowing for efficient traffic flow. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful! The Saturday during our stay (when we arrived), they had a pick-up truck with someone playing guitar and singing going around the resort with a golf cart following offering adult beverages...we referred to as an "adult ice cream truck". We loved it! Although we didn't take advantage of many of the amenities, there are many, such as an onsite restaurant and well stocked store. There are two dog parks that we observed being cleaned frequently. The only thing of awareness that may be a challenge for space 204 is that if there is someone across the road, backing into 204 may present a challenge since it's on a corner and backing-in puts the rig at a difficult angle (we had a trailer and truck). We can't wait for our next trip here, we'll just avoid space 204.

I just spent three days at the Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay Resort and had an amazing time with the family and pet. The staff was amazing, which included the reception counter, cleaning crew and grounds keepers. My wife and I enjoyed the well equipped gym that overlooks the crystal clear pool. We also had the opportunity to experience our first pickel ball game, Yoga and Aquatic classes. Fitness Instructor Raquel was amazing, she helped us burn enough calories to enjoy a couple of appetizers from the cafe. The bay cottages were well maintained and roomy. We loved it so much that we have reserved the bay cottages for our anniversary.

Very nice resorts, a lot of activities, we had a great time. We enjoyed our stay. Loved the pool, and the Sky deck, very relaxing. The only reason why I rated 4 stars is because the wifi is weak.

Just spent Thanksgiving here and it was absolutely the BEST time. This was our second time here. This place is literally like being at an all-inclusive resort. Heather, Frankie and the whole restaurant staff are the best and made sure we had a great time. Monday night Bingo with Heather is a MUST. Also, the bike parade and silent dance party was a hit with the kiddos. It doesn't get any better than this. Safe, clean and lots to do. We will be back again maybe a couple of more times next year.

We came to this place thinking all the amenities were going to be open. When we got there we had high expectations to eat and drink and the cafe. That was supposed to be open. But when we checked in we were not advised that it would be closed for the entire time that we were staying. When I asked some of the staff walking around they said that they weren’t sure when the would open. I was very disappointed. The second thing that upset me was that we rented the 6 person bike and the lady in the front said it was too late to rent but she let us rent it for 30 mins but was charged 37 dollars. She gave us a 3 dollar discount for renting it for 30 mins. I feel like it should have been half off. This trip was a disappointment for me and my family. False advertisement. I wasn’t the only one who complained about the cafe being open. Another guest paid for his food online and they took his money but couldn’t get his food because the cafe was closed
