We went here last night for our first time. We even told them that they came highly recommended, & that it was our first time there.. The server was less than friendly. It took her a while for our first refill (of drinks), but then she was better at that, although still not friendly. The bus boy was MUCH MORE FRIENDLY than our server ever was!!! Our fingers were sticky from dinner, and even though we didn't say anything, he brought us some wet naps to clean off our hands. Too bad he wasn't serving!!! He was GREAT!!! In fact, I gave him half of what I would normally tip (which is at least 20%)!!! I tipped them the same amount. He was Hispanic (he said "Gracias" a few times), so I said (in Spanish) that it was only for him. He was very grateful. And he deserved it!!! He was working MUCH HARDER than our server was!!!

Only have few hours until we fly out so opted to split the side. Steak fries were amazing, angus burger was cooked exactly how I asked. Atmosphere was the perfect relaxed environment I needed to end our day in Chicago. Will definitely put on my visit again list!

Consistent on food and quality. Great service in dining and at the bar. A little too dark for me but I don't think they want to change the atmosphere and ambiance anymore as the ghost may show up again. 😜

Delicious food, great servers, wo derful old house now a restaurant. You are really packed in there but service is quick. Busy on Saturday nights but you are in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Lots of parking in back.

So good! Getting a well done burger that isn't dried out. Wife had a steak sandwich and she really liked it. The chicken dumpling soup she really liked as well. The beef and rice is basically a beef stew with rice. Really good. Definitely going back!

We've been waiting to try this place for a while and I'm glad we finally did. Service was excellent the restaurant was quaint and cozy and the food was really good. Good portion sizes and overall good value. Their staff was also wonderful period from the greater to our server communication was great and friendly. This reminded me of the restaurants I grew up eating in, we will definitely be back.

The Chicken Cashew Salad is delicious. I'm very picky about salads and this one is superb. Very fresh lettuce and quality ingredients - a really nice combination of flavors (green apples, cashews, swiss cheese). The sliced char-grilled chicken is tender and juicy. The dressing is perfect.

Ok, this place is pretty good, but maybe we went at the wrong time. It was pretty packed at 4:30 p.m. on a Saturday. We had a table of 6, and they had a table available pretty quickly but we were pretty squished into the corner. The tables in general were jammed in pretty tight everywhere. Server was very helpful and friendly, and was good at solving issues. Took a while to get drinks, but once food was ordered it came out pretty quickly. Soup was VERY good, and burgers, etc, were okay, but not great. Maybe a little overcooked. One steak came out almost cold in the center when it was ordered medium well, but server quickly rectified and had it re-made. Pork chops were really dry, almost inedible, and server asked since she saw they weren't really touched, and we said not to worry about it. She ended up taking them off our bill without asking. Maybe I need to come back here for lunch or at a less busy time - I have been here in the past and everything was spot on. The server was truly making sure everything was on point which made the whole experience a decent one when it could have easily unraveled due to food and atmosphere.

I'm going to blame holiday rush, ordered burgers, maybe they took their eyes off the food. But burnt wasn't a choice for how we wanted it cooked. We had been rushed, and it was clear that once we had finished our meals, you were not allowed to visit with the guests that met you there for the meal. Our table was cleared, and if you eat too slow, you had been asked numerous times if you're finished or attempting to take the plate. Then the water was stopped being filled, and everyone at our table began being run into by waitresses. Elbows, hips , backed into while sitting, and the water lady as soon as meal was done our table was ignored. With just standing by and making it beyond clear, our service was done. The food was not worth the costs, I even told my wife Culver's would have been better and tasted better than Country House. I had been there many years ago, and it was good, but now - not so much. Whoever was the cook that night was a real letdown. This place turned into a letdown, which is too bad.

Fantastic food & service. It is dark inside and small, but it is very good. The pot roast & smoked gouda sandwich with creamy horseradish was worth it. So good!! The burger was a 1/2 pound patty and also delicious.

Ordered the top drawer burger & bison burger for take out which we've had countless times since we moved to the area in 2017. The top drawer burger & bison burger were completely identical in texture & flavor which leads me to believe that they started using the same burger patties for any burger you order even if you pay the extra money. Also to add the texture was rubbery on both of them & i bit into a piece of cartilage. This never used to happen in the past...quality went downhill significantly.

Cozy, convenient, and consistent are three descriptions I’d use to describe Country House. The food is quite delicious and the menu rarely changes (for the better)… The length of time this location has served the community, it’s become a bit of a popular place, prompting reservations or a wait if you don’t plan ahead. The steaks are quite nice, fish choices are seasonal, and the regular dinners are a perfected craft of choice cooking. I’d recommend nearly anything and you will most definitely enjoy the generous portions.

Food is very good, comfort food to another level. Comes out quick, service is great but you can tell the waitresses were straining with the work load especially with several full tables of the over 70 set. The tables are definitely crammed in there which would be my only complaint but it is a very old building so its part of the atmosphere ( want more space go to the one out in Geneva). I really enoyed the pot roast sandwich soup and fries. Husband liked the Bison burger. Very filling.

Very cozy feel, they leave small bowls of peanuts on the tables and u eat them and throw the shells on the floor. They have a fire place in the bar area, a separate dining room for more of a family feel. We had the bison & elk burgers. So good! Will definitely come back! They have specials for every day of the week and also have happy hour deals! Also, they have a well-kept garden section in the back with tables and benches. Great place!

Great Friday night dinner! We sat in the bar area and had fantastic service from Nicky! Food was tasty and timely. I had a bison burger and all their burgers you get to choose the bread/bun, toppings, cheese. Nice! Cheese curds were great! 👍 Thanks

Had a wonderful lunch at the bar. We ordered the Elk burger, salad, classic cheeseburger(could use a bit more seasoning), fries and of course a bucket of peanuts! Burgers were perfect medium temperature. Our server Chrissy was the best. Looking forward to our next visit.

I love the 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings option with my sandwich. I ordered the chicken wrap and enjoyed it. The only thing I would change is having less tables in the room. The tables are right on top of each other.

Stopped in after visiting a friend in the area, not familiar with the region just saw it and pulled up. Glad I did. Appreciate the full lunch menu, solid Ruben which I haven't had in a while, and a perfect portion (don't need to be carrying out doggy bags to be satisfied) . Friendly wait staff, funny Halloween decor (friend dining with me said the place was on a haunted tour 🤷🏼‍♂️) Overall a worthwhile lunch and would repeat when I'm back in the area.

We stopped in during a busy evening on a holiday. The place was filled with what looked like a good mix of couples, old and young families, and friends. We had to take a table in the bar area which was cozy but family friendly, although a bit loud. Great food all around from a varied menu, especially liked the hot Reuben sandwich and the kids loved the soup. Will definitely be back!

The Bison burger was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. I’m glad the Country House offers this on their menu. They also let you choose the type of bread for you would like to have with your burger. I chose the onion roll which was fabulous

Consistently great food and service. Burgers are amazing, and we've recently started trying other items. The only thing we've been remotely disappointed in was fish & chips. It was good, but compared to other menu items, it lacked flavor. Outside of their burgers, the french dip on garlic bread is delicious. Onion rings are bomb, and the bar area always has a relaxed and welcoming vibe. People with peanut allergies beware, they do serve peanuts at the bar, and shells go on the floor. Parking lot fills up on weekends/peak times.

Haven't been here in about 6 years because we moved from the area. Back than was a regular hang out. The food is still as great as it was. Plenty to eat for what you pay for. The owner is till there and as sweet as ever. Surprised me most, she remembered me, obviously not by name, but she remembered me. This should tell you a lot about how friendly and customer service there is at the Country House. EVERYONE should eat here at least once a month. The food is soooo good!

My husband and I have been going to all of their restaurants for over 20 yrs and we have always enjoyed it. The only problem lately is the cooking of the burgers the charcoal on them is too much and it ruins the meat. I have tried telling them but no matter what they come out the same even on the flat grill. If others have noticed that it would be nice to let them know and maybe they can change their fire to lower or learn how to cook meat. Thanks

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic casual restaurant that not only serves delicious food but also caters to night owls like myself by staying open late. It’s truly a gem for those seeking a great meal at any hour. Now, let’s talk about the food. The menu offers a wide range of options to suit all tastes. It’s comfort food done right, with generous portions that leave you feeling satisfied. The service was friendly and efficient, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff here understands the value of a late-night meal and ensures that you’re well taken care of.

Country House is definitely one of my all time favorite bars and restaurants! It is overwhelming cozy and oozes character and charm. I prefer to sit in the bar area, especially during the colder months, since they usually have a nice fire going. I almost always go for the Drawer Burger with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and a pretzel bun. Onion rings are my go to side. The cheese curd appetizer is delicious (see photo). It’s definitely one of the best cheeseburgers in western suburbs of Chicago. The service is always fast and the cocktails are excellent as well. Highly recommended!

Small bowls of peanuts are left on the tables, and when you finish them, you dump the shells on the ground. For a more homey atmosphere, they offer a fireplace in the bar area and a separate dining room. We ordered the elk & bison burgers. Very excellent! Will undoubtedly return! Every day of the week, they have specials, and they even provide discounts during happy hour! Additionally, they have a well-kept garden area with benches and tables in the back. great location

My fiancé and I were out celebrating my birthday and found this lovely dinner place! We drove all the way from Plano and enjoyed a night eating amazing food in such a cozy atmosphere. Our server was Cindy and she was absolutely amazing! We will be returning soon to enjoy a nice dinner with Cindy!

Love the atmosphere of the place but the price of the food for the quality is way too high. Not a fan of paying $20 for a frozen burger with frozen fries. Burger was flavorless. I'll come back during happy hour when the burger is $10 dollars. That's a more appropriate price

🫤 Pretty basic food at a premiere price. I’ve only done carryout so maybe somehow that yields less food at a marked-up price. Staff seem friendly but seems popular more for convenience and less for quality. Make the 10 minute drive to Downers for better eating.
