The Temple (Black Dick's Tower)

Tourist attraction Historical landmark

👍👍 This building was once owned by a previous ancestor of mine, Richard Beaumont who was knighted by James 1st. It took some finding as it is on a hill hidden by trees, well away from the main road, near the village of Lepton / Kirkheaton in the Huddersfield area.

Amazing place to walk too! I just wish the land owner would make it slightly easier to get too, we got so lost trying to find it and then when we did the field was covered in manure so not the most enjoyable. But a beautiful bit of history.

From outside it looks good, the views from the temple are magnificent but if you look inside the temple it is full of rubbish and old campfires, it really needs clearing out and then I will increase the rating

Worth a visit. It is a bit run down but i had a lovely time here with my brother. There are some nice routes nearby for walking so maybe include it as part of a longer walk

Not easy to get to if on a road bike. Definitely could do with some TLC

👍👍 A great day out, plenty to explore loads of great scenery to view throughout the park. Would strongly advise that correct footwear is worn like wellies or walking shoes/boots. As in some areas, it can get rather muddy, I'm yet to fully explore this amazing park, but what I have explored so far has s...
