Lovely well kept place. Wish there was a sign about the car park, would have saved all the stairs. 2.20 to go in and only takes cash. Down side no signs in the building to advise what it was used for, when it was built etc. Brilliant views

An absolute MUST when in Huddersfield, for the best view across town 100% Really lovely walks in the area, time it for a sunset and you will be blown away. Full 360 views on an ancient monument with the beautiful Victoria Tower, a landmark which can be spotted from all over town. Well worth your time, be wary of the road that leads you to the top car park, not much give way room, plus the walk up is far more enjoyable!

The road up here are bad. Filled with put hols in the parking lot. Not much up to do except for enjoying the view up there. AND to be honest there are plenty of this type of places in West-Yorkshire. They all look the same. It's just the tower that makes this place a little more appealing. The view itself is worth, but by adding more tourists attractions might make this place a little bit more interesting, specially with multiple, different food trucks and a small playground, makes this place more interesting and fun for the children. Seems like this is basically Huddersfield's CN Tower of Toronto. Would be better if the council of governors invest more time and money on this place. Not only will it make this place better but attract more people to the site.

Great views, lovely to walk round the hill top reading the information boards. We went back when tower was open free parking, £2.20 admission great! Take a picnic, kite, ball, kids, dog or just a walk to destress! Narrow lane of 2 way traffic to the top but can park lower down and walk up the steps to the hill. Has a gated off well and grassy moat to run around...

A very scenic area, the views are fantastic. It's worth noting there's not a lot to do, but it'd make a lovely place for a pit stop on a longer walk or for a picnic. It can be quite windy but it's worth it for the view! There is a big free parking

Victoria Tower is only open a few days a year. I found the date list through the Kirklees Council site after a quick Google search. Well worth a trip if you've never been before, a small entry fee and quite a few steps later and wow that's a view. There are lots of plaques with facts and history about Castle Hill itself outside the tower, with walkways connecting them. Very interesting place, could be a good afternoon out with kids when combined with the tower and if you fancy teaching them some foraging skills, there are quite a few blue berry bushes up there on the slopes with lots to pick at the right time of year. There's plenty of parking or you can walk up the hill via various steps and paths if you're that way inclined. It's also a good place to watch meteor showers and other astrological events, away from the major light pollution but bare in mind the car park isn't open at night so you have to park lower down on the road and walk the last bit.

Love going to castle hill. It’s great for a solo trip if you just want to clear your mind and do a few laps (walking) of the castle with an amazing view of Huddersfield. It’s also a great place to visit with friends if you want to have a fun little catch up. You can bring food up there - it’s super clean and I expect that’s from it being maintained (please don’t destroy it with litter). I’ve also seen many a dog walker up there. They are often off the leash so if you have a fear of dogs or little ones that you’re worried about I would be mindful of this. I’ve also seen people flying their drones up there so I’m guessing there are not restrictions for that. I would be mindful of the opening hours for the car park. In November - February it closes at 4.30pm so in the depths of winter you might be able to catch a sunset or 2. It’s a beautiful place and stands proudly in what feels like the centre of Huddersfield. I have some great memories of bonfire nights up there too. You can see everything!

This is castle hill, Huddersfield. A place with a history of more than 4,000 years, Castle Hill is a striking hill fort from the Iron Age. This place is controlled by the council and people are allowed to come in. Please take notes of the seasonal time schedule for parking. This place has a wheelchair accessablitity, you can walk your dog, car park available, no payment required, you can take pictures, you can fly your drone as it is a good site for drone piliots(please, meet the drone pilot legal requirement in UK), great sights to see on site. Historical building and lots more. It is highly recommended to visit this hill while you are in huddersfield as this will leave a long lasting memory for you.

Beautiful place. Very peaceful. Bliss. An easy escape from all the urban stress. Well spent day. Only drawback is the tower is locked and we couldn’t get to the top.

Great location ! I’m not from here ( Yorkshire ) but it is one of the iconic locations of the area / great views ! One gets a real sense of Yorkshire from here ! Nice walks here - a good stop off on a sunny day ! Gets a bit windy up there too !

An amazing place with 4000 years worth of history. Since the Neolithic era every age of peoples and invaders has built a presence on this hill. There was a motte-and-bailey castle on the hill in 12th century which is presumably where the hill got it’s name. There is a large car park here too.

Great views over Huddersfield, nice place for walking or taking dogs. Would have been good to be able to go to the top of the tower but, as I understand, it's open on certain days of the year.

Was passing through Huddersfield & read that there was an opportunity to get up high for an overview of the town. Even better, you can drive up to it! What more do you want? Free parking? Ok you’ve got that as well :) Only negative was the Victoria Tower wasn’t open.

Brilliant views and family friendly spot. Car park is spacious enough, and can get busy. A lot of dog-walkers.

Great historical place of interest with information boards to read. Paths around the castle with benches to sit and enjoy the 360° vista's.

Really good place to have a walk round, you can spend about an hour here. Plenty of parking at the top or you can park at the bottom and take the 100 steps up. Parking is free.

So nice place on the top of the hill. You can see very beautiful view of the city . Free car parking. Nice track for walking.

Not enough of a walk to make it interesting. Went on a cold day so wasn't great up there, walk was about 5 minutes but the castle looks great.

  • 5/5 Stephanie H. 7 months ago on Google
Great piece of history! We were passing and realised it was open. £2.20 to go to the top and see the history and the view. Probably needs more information boards about the history of the castle on the climb up to the top but the view was fabulous.

We went here to watch the sunset :) Absolutely gorgeous views from the top! It's such a peaceful spot in Huddersfield. Definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed it up here with our lass and our two dogs and the view is great

Love Castle Hill, bee going there for 30 years and it's never the same twice. The weather can change in an instant, four seasons in 30 minutes if your lucky. It was an encampment thousands of years ago and it does have an ethereal feel about it. Get a duxons ice cream and go and soak up that view, it's fabulous

Only great things to say about our landmark. Regularly walk up to it with family to get an amazing view. There are times when the tower is open so you can walk to the top.

  • 4/5 Shelley M. 2 years ago on Google
It was a nice little walk, you can't go into the tower but there's some paths with signs about the history of Castle Hill and walks around to do. There's a big free car park at the top so no worries about parking

Went for an impromptu picnic today as we had a few hours free and the sun was shining. Breathtaking views. Just a really special place. We took the little one and she loved it, knackered herself running about and playing. Lovely family day. Highly recommended. Just beware of inconsiderate drivers not appreciating that other people exist and may be walking there. Far too many idiots driving at pace for a popular family and dog-walking spot.

A family walk over the Christmas period from Farnley Tyas to Castle Hill. We'll worth a visit for the views. Also worth doing a little research as the location has a very long and interesting history.

  • 4/5 Paul A. 2 years ago on Google
It's not all that spectacular but it's an amazing location for the views doing a 360 around it, have a picknick up there it's amazing.

Brilliant place to visit although the folley is not yet open yet. Talking to a nice chap who was getting things ready for re-opening, he said hopefully October half term all things going well 🤞Some interesting history and great views of West Yorkshire. Worth a visit 🤩

Nice old Victorian Monument. Currently closed, whether it's due to be open again I don't know. Plenty of walking areas around and appears to be popular. Probably gives up some good views but was overcast and wet when we visited so couldn't see much.

  • 5/5 Sarah B. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing views of the city up at the top. Incredibly peaceful and quiet and a great place to relax. Drive up is a bit steep and narrow in places, but well worth the drive up.

👍👍 A great day out, plenty to explore loads of great scenery to view throughout the park. Would strongly advise that correct footwear is worn like wellies or walking shoes/boots.
