We visited this location on Father's Day after driving from the city for 40 minutes, hoping for a delightful dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit left much to be desired and my partner in nothing but tears. When we arrived, we were seated at a table in the back, which had no scenic views and was furnished with dated and worn-out furniture, including uncomfortable unclean plastic chairs covered in bird poo. The lack of atmosphere was striking, as it seemed the venue hadn't seen any renovations in quite some time. We were disappointed by the absence of any efforts to enhance the decor and comfort of the place. Regrettably, our disappointment continued when we ordered our meals. The garlic bread was served cold and dry, the chicken wings lacked flavor and seemed to be coated in an unusual tasteless batter, and the coleslaw accompanying them was soggy and unappetizing. The chicken burger looked hastily put together, with what appeared to be deep-fried chicken, orange cheese, and tomato. Given the prices charged, we expected a much higher standard of food quality for such a simple menu. The experience was further dampened by disinterested bar staff who set a less-than-inviting tone for our visit. It's important for front-line staff to be enthusiastic and welcoming. Additionally, we noticed that the lawn area designated for children's play was littered with cigarette butts, even in areas where food was being consumed. This was a significant hygiene concern. While we understand that this venue may have historical significance, we would hesitate to recommend it based on our experience. At best, it seemed to serve as a local watering hole and a place for gambling rather than a welcoming dining establishment.

This is a lovely old hotel set in a wonderful location. Took my husband for a birthday lunch. However, I was hugely disappointed. The view is pretty much non-existent due to the overgrowth of shrubbery….bit of a waste if the hotel likes to boast about the views! The outdoor tables were sticky and not clean, the bathrooms were truly disgusting…smelly with cracked tiling, dirty floors, dirty toilets, and years of dirty fingerprints on the toilet doors. The food was the biggest disappointment- the menu was uninteresting and very basic. Ordering was having to line up … only one person taking orders and delivering meals. I ordered a chicken schnitzel with salad and chips…got a chunk of deep-fried chicken that was over cooked, served with frozen chips that were soggy, and the salad was a pile of green black-edged lettuce leaves with one half of a cherry tomato, and two tiny slivers of cucumber. Absolutely ready for the bin about three days ago! How the heck could they get that so wrong? Won’t ever go back again, that’s for sure! Renovate, clean up and get a chef who is a bit proud of what is coming out of the kitchen!! Waste of money….disgusting and disappointing!

So much potential, but such a disappointment. Massive beer garden, decent looking venue, close to the water. Unfortunately seems like an "old boys" club made for the old locals to drink beer at the bar and watch the cricket. Looks like it hasn't changed in 30 years it the same patrons and same everything. Bit of effort and a live band or DJ, this place could be super popular. Unfortunately, just not the case

I was with a group of 9 yesterday. Very few patrons there at the time but the service of our meals was dreadful. 3 people got theirs and finished before we asked where ours was. An hour after ordering they gradually arrived. One little waitress was extremely pleasant and apologetic and offered us free coffee and cake. This group will not be back in a hurry.

Lastnight we both enjoyed our dinner and milkshakes so much! We are locals and missed the food and we were delighted that the our meals were just as great as the last time. We had the porterhouse with the best mushroom gravy and slow cooked Kingaroy pork ribs with delicious salad followed up with chocolate milkshakes. Thank you! Loved the art gallery too!

Had lunch there on Saturday, 3rd December 2033, around 12 pm with 3 other people. The seating area was very ordinary, we were shown to a table that was in the main rear entrance area, where people were coming and going into and out of the pub, and others were attending the toilet, both female and male, very close by. We noted a lot of disturbing handling of clean plates and clean utensils by most staff, seems like there could be lack of training here. We all noted how sticky and disgusting our table was, then all agreed that the bar counter was in the same condition, again lack of staff intuition and pride. (They were not overly busy, so they could have wiped it down at least once in a while). We noted that the staff seemed very disinterested in making a friendly lasting impression on any of us, as no one really greeted us with a smile, except the man who showed us to our table. The young person behind the ordering counter, wished she was not there (well that's the lasting impression we all got). She had to stroll over to the kitchen area on several occasions to check if our order could be fulfilled (we only wanted to swap out chips for mash and salad for veges). That is virtually a second nature option in most restaurants. Sorry, I can't offer you more than a 2/5 as an overall rating.

The best pub in Australia for sure. Great atmosphere for families, couples or friends. My favourite area is the grassed area where you can enjoy a beer and nice pub food under the trees full of birds with a water view. Maybe just a suggestion would be to increase the variety of beers and vegetarian options.

We have a large group of people who go to the Grandview to see our favourite band, Too many times now they have not kept our requested seating requirements for a disabled person. Making us left to sit out the event in the unbelievable hot conditions with no or very limited shade. We decided that it's more important to have bums on seats over patrons comfort.

Our daughter and son in law held their wedding reception here today. Jeff was so helpful and obliging in every way. A big thank you also to the staff. The meals came out so promptly. The reception went longer than expected but we never felt rushed and even the kitchen staff worked later to accommodate us. Highly recommend the Grandview Hotel

We decided to take my elderly Dad for a drink today (Father's Day) before buying takeaway fish for lunch. On arrival, the vibe at the Grand View was so warm and welcoming we decided to stay for lunch. The staff were really busy, but so lovely. The meals we ordered were delicious, beautifully presented and came out quickly. Thank you for a lovely experience!

We got here and ordered at 1pm we got our garlic bread after an hour and it’s now nearly been 2 hours and still no sign of our food . We are at table 214 if you’re lost or forgot . Maybe hire more staff to cook or have less patrons so you can cope as it doesn’t seem like you can. I wonder when our meals will arrive . We saw the tide go out and we may see it come in again . Ridiculous !!!

Atrocious service. The little bar which used to be open has untrained staff, no real drinks to speak of and closes by around 5. The service inside is worse. They are so untrained, you get drinks half mast and no explanation. Everything is a chore. I have had this place, (or more, the lack and rudeness of staff). The food is good though so kudos to the chef. Get your act together Grandview, no wonder it’s nearly always empty…and you even start dragging around heaters so loudly, we can’t talk and make everyone feel like you all want to go home. Awful and uncomfortable place to go. We had visitors and they thought it the worst place they had been. Won’t be going again.

Good old fashioned pub. Popular with visitors and locals. Regular entertainment. Fantastic beer garden overlooking bay, bring aeroguard during evening. Menu looks fairly standard, can't comment on food as didn't eat here.

  • 3/5 DJ K. 1 year ago on Google
One star for the location, one star for the entertainment, one star for the friendly service. That's where it stops because if you like frozen produce then go here. Poor food quality for the prices they're charging. Went on a Sunday arvo with good live entertainment. Minimal staff on so don't expect to be served quickly or get your food in a timely manner. I would recommend just go for drinks and the live music.

Had lunch with friends and kids. Had booked a gazebo for our large group which was great and gave a sense of some privacy. Playground nearby for kids which was popular. Food great and it arrived promptly. Everyone pays for their own meals which just makes it so much easier - they have table scan ordering as well as going to a kiosk. You do have to go to the bar to order your drinks however.

Despite it being a busy Sunday afternoon, the service was fast and very friendly! Our meals (which were delicious) came out quickly and we enjoyed a very nice meal in beautiful surroundings. A beautiful venue in a great location. Really nice and relaxing atmosphere!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. Really enjoy the "old style" vibe of the pub. Much nicer than the ultra modernised pubs. Sitting out the back by the bay was wonderful. The Sunday arvo music was great. Service was friendly and the meal was good pub style food. Steak was tasty and tender and the seafood plate was enjoyed. Will be back. Would be a good place for families as well, with a playground and grass for kids to run around on.

when we arrived we were pointed in the direction to go to our table they gave us a menu!! we got lost we went back and asked where to go and got directed to a table!! we looked at the menu and I sent my partner to ask how we order!! this should of happened if we were showed to our table, we were sitting out side partner had to try to light heater because we had no service!! guess what lasted a minute partner had to find some one to fix!! 20 minutes later the heater was lit!! Once we found out where to order we ordered dinner garlic pizza nice, received $ 46 rump steak i ordered medium rare and arrived medium well!! had to go and find someone to collect my meal to take it back for a medium rare, my partners fish was nice chips were just warm! Once i received my meal it was nice!! customer service was. slow average!! the person that receives a guest should seat the guest! and the water staff should not stand around and do nothing they should move around and be present!! very disappointed!! very old hotel with character brought down by customer service!

Visited here after being recommended left Wellington Point pub and travelled to this location for lunch. Nice spot. I enjoyed the outside environment, and lunch was provided quickly. No complaints prices was excellent, they just need some decent IPAs on tap. Overall slightly disappointed over the view was OK - but from the outside garden bar was yea OK not grand - Redlands pub has similar view still a brilliant watering hole and if I buy the house I'm looking at possibly my local.

A spectacular place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. This place pumps on the weekend, and this visit was no exception. Yet there are heaps of tables and room for all (be aware though, not all tables are undercover....ours was on the grass under a lovely tree. Might have been a totally different experience if it was raining or stinking hot). Even though this place was pumping, we had our meals about 35 - 40 mins after ordering). But boy oh boy... They were worth the wait. Exceptional... Complements to the chef. Pictures are of the fish of the day, their slow cooked lamb shanks... And mine was the Barramundi. The skin was well seasoned and crispy, yet also melt in the mouth. Sooo well cooked. Still moist and full of flavour. The lamb shanks cane out with this crisp fried onion on top, which gave a crunch to the tender meat and a nice little salty hit as well. Absolutely lovely experience. Well done.

I would have liked to have the gluten free Calamari and the Sweet potato wedges but they are only pretend gluten free. I'm a Coeliac, so definitely gluten free but I was told that everything else is cooked in the same fat. How stupid are you people !!! If I was to eat any of your so called gluten free, I would be throwing up with diarrhoea for about 6hrs. Perhaps you should research or get a real chef 😒😪

Fantastic old-school pub in an awesome location - we loved the great selection of beers on tap, and the $14 pizzas (Thursday specials) that we ordered were delicious. All the employees were super helpful and friendly - my only complaint is that the queue for the bar was quite long whenever we tried to get drinks - an extra staff member would definitely help here. We'll be back!

Quiet place and relaxing hotel to have lunch at. The food was actually really nice. It also has a little playground to occupy the little ones and lots of space to wonder around. The gazebo settings are nice and breezy by the water, but be aware there are plenty of mosquitoes.

A big thumbs up to staff member Emily today. Service was slow at our table with a couple of meals not coming to our table. Everyone in our group had eaten and 2 meals hadn't arrived after waiting 30 mins. Emily was very professional and prompty issued a refund at our request and gave complimentary coffee and cake because of our missing orders. Emily promptly delivered coffees and cakes to our table so our 2 guests didn't have to wait for dessert. Well done Emily, we appreciate your fantastic customer service. Huge servings for the rest of our group and the food was enjoyed by all.

Actually love this place but very disappointed that our booking for 7 adults and 4 children for tonight has been "lost" and there has been zero assistance or help from your staff to find our lost reservation. The woman I spoke to on the phone suggested we can still be walk-ins, not easy with this number and young kids in tow. No attempt to help us out with a reservation at all.

Father's day lunch so really busy. All the same, great meal & excellent service. Fortunately our group was under cover outside, but for those who didn't have cover outside, it would have been a bit hot & uncomfortable.

We celebrated my 40th with a lunch for 35 people at the back undercover garden and was absolutely a hit with all the families and kids. From the organisation of the event until the event day, Hayley Wilson helped me out with everything, such a wonderful person to deal with. I must say that I received such good comments for the location view, the pizzas, the chips.... To be honest it was a perfect day! Thank you.

It was good because we love the Grandview but booked last Monday for an undercover setting and were put in the garden with one umbrella for 8 people. Got around that. Ordered food with a pre-laminated sign saying 1 hour wait for food. Put up with that. A line up at the bar where there were three people serving - line up unnecessary as we were all standing 1.5 metres apart. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for our food & it was seriously dreadful. Burger buns so hard you wouldn’t attempt to eat them - seafood pizzas with crumbed calamari on it???? We loved coming to the Hotel for the mussels and salt & pepper calamari - and were told it was due to Covid it was no longer on the menu??? We have been coming to this Hotel for 9 years now. I am saying this as a member of the Hotel for constructive criticism and hope it will be taken on board
