Gorgeous church in the middle of pedestrian area in Piața Unirii market. The St. Michael's Church is a Gothic-style Roman Catholic church and the second largest church in the Transylvania. The west portal is decorated with the three coats of arms of Sigismund as King of Hungary, as King of Bohemia and as Holy Roman Emperor. The oldest of its sections is the altar, inaugurated in 1390, while the newest part is the Gothic Revival-style clock tower, which was built in 1837-1862 and replaced a Baroque predecessor. Amazing proofs of historical times inside.

A beautiful gothic church that has lasted for many centuries. The interior looks fantastic, with painted glass and walls. You can even climb on the spiral staircase - they say that two people, one going up and the other down will not meet each other of those stairs. The tower is 80m high and provides a beautiful view of the city centre

One of the most beautiful gothic jewels of this city. Built in the 14th to 15th centuries, with a 19th century neo-gothic tower, this church has some of the best organ concertos in Cluj. Get yourself a guide to explore the extremely rich history it has!

Beautiful catholic church in one of the best pedestrian area of the city. Surrounded by parks and other beautiful historical buildings, it has very interesting architecture. There are many restaurants and terraces around the park and church to enjoy a nice evening. The whole area is clean and well maintained.

The stained glass windows are quite lovely, that was my favorite part. Now that the place is fully restored, it feels quite pleasant to sit there quietly and analyse the architecture.

Amazing church. Grand and timeless. Unfortunately car traffic surrounds the church on three sides. It destroys peace and reduces the culture of the central square. Reduces tourism!!! Big city planning failure. The driving style in Romania is reckless with zero police enforcement.

They have done an excellent job at restoring this church! It's an icon of Cluj, and it's restoration (on-going) really has helped make it stand out, even more than it had previously! It's a shame they have cut down the trees which surrounded the church, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what the final renovation brings.

The Big Church, also known as St. Michael's Church, stands majestically in the heart of Cluj-Napoca. Its Gothic architecture and towering spire command attention. The interior boasts ornate decorations and impressive vaulted ceilings. As a historical symbol of the city, it offers visitors a glimpse into the past and serves as a cultural and architectural gem worth exploring.

A very beautiful church to visit in the center of Cluj. It’s a free entry so kinda cool. You can enter and stay as much as you want. A lot of corners to visit and take pictures. Somewhere on the left side you can go up on some very interesting stairs to see the church from a higher level.

Wonderful Catholic gothic cathedral with a spectacular ceiling, amazing stained glass. Beautiful gothic interior. Visitable for free, but possible give a donation. Tip: ask for the keys to visit the church tower. Spectacular views of the city center. Hidden gen.

Usually I find it strange to review a church, because it is the house of God and I go there mostly for praying. However, this is filled with history, I'm sure I didn't hear all of it, but I will share with you what I know. The ornaments from the entrance which sustain the vessels with the holy water are actually rose stumps from 700 years ago. One has an acorn carved at the top (right) and the other has a bird without its beak unfortunately and a squirrel. Jesus Christ on a cross when you enter on the left it's also a representation since 700 years ago along with the paintings - what could be saved of them on the walls of the church. The trees with the red fruits in the garden of the church are old almonds. Also, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday you can visit the tower, entrance free. As I know from a friend, some years ago you could've gone higher than the tower bell, but now we stopped at it's level. It's a splendid view which made me dizzy, especially when looking at the abrupt roof top of the church. It was worth every second there, even for prayer. There were monks (I think) there singing acapella. It was a reverent space they created through their voice and soul-uplifting. Thank you!

Amazing place, so impressive! Impressive architecture and an amazing place to visit if you are in Cluj.

Well done refurbished. The material should be also disponibile in Romanian, German and English. A program for visitors should be in Romanian, English and German. An audio guide should be of great help and also a simbolyc tax for visitors would be acceptable. The history of this huge monument is available only on Internet now.

Beautiful Hungarian Roman Catholic Church in Kolozsvár. If you are looking for a quiet place to rest and pray this is the best place.

Impressive architecture. Unfortunately it was under rennovation when we visited it and most of the exterior is walled in, apart from the main entrance.

The best place to feel the history of the city. It is very spiritual. The space is breathtaking as you enter. It is preserved close to the original style. Recently renoveted. For now it is open for ceremony only on Sunday but once the renovation is finished there are roman catholic ceremonies each day, mainly in Hungarian. Sometimes also in Romanian and German. There are sometimes also concerts here.

Beautiful place and still untouched (almost) by the western interest.

Really nice. Like it. Unfortunately, it is not as well lit as the Orthodox one, which is only 700 meters from it.
